Chapter 269: Subtle Transformation
However, before he could act on his plans, Lorien suddenly froze as he finally felt the effects of absorbing the Eternity Law.
*Bzzzz*
The moment this Law was completely assimilated by him, the very essence of his Eternity Dream Realm quivered with intensity, signaling the beginning of a profound metamorphosis.
*Quake*
*Quake*
With each tremor, the domain expanded, stretching its radius from 14 to 16 kilometers in an instant, pushing the boundaries of Lorien's influence further outward.
However, what truly captivated Lorien's attention wasn't just the expansion of his domain, but the profound qualitative leap that accompanied the assimilation of the Eternity Law.
If the previous Domain had a strength rating of 1, then right now, the strength rating of this domain instantly surged to at least 5.
Right now, different from its previous state, every single particle within the domain now emitted an unmistakable aura of eternity, it seemed that no matter what happened and how much time passed, this domain would always remain the same, a paradise impervious to the ravages of time, destined to remain unchanged.
At this moment, the domain shed its former Inaccurate name of the "Eternal Dream Realm," now rightfully earning the title of "Eternal" in every sense of the word.
However, beyond the expansion of his domain and the surge in its power, there was also something else that attracted his attention, something that made Lorien's heart sink in fright.
Right now, just as a metamorphosis was occurring with the domain, there was also a subtle yet profound transformation unfolding within his own body and soul, slowly pushing it into a higher stage of existence.
It's just that as good as this sounds, based on all the prior information and analysis, being influenced by a Law outside one's own primary Law wasn't necessarily beneficial, at least not before the main transformation.
'This...'
'What's going on.'
'This should not be happening.'
Faced with this sudden occurrence, Lorien's heart sank even further as he swiftly concentrated all his attention on discerning the details of the transformation.
'Huh?'
Not wasting any time, Lorien quickly began analyzing it inside out, not leaving a single detail unchecked.
Yet, reassuringly, it appeared that this was nothing but a false alarm and that the worst hadn't come to pass.
'It seems that once someone takes over a [Law], there is no going around things like this.'
'No matter what I do, there will always be a small transformation, for example, in my current case, the concept of [Eternity] was attributed to my soul and body.'
'However, thankfully, the path that I had meticulously prepared had mitigated the extent of this transformation, greatly confining its effects.'
'Thank god.'
'My heart almost dropped in fear.'
'After all, god knows if I'll be able to revert the transformation after it happens.'
Wiping the sweat that had unknowingly appeared on his forehead, Lorien couldn't help but heave a sigh of relief before turning his attention toward the towering Eternal Dream Tree that stood behind him.
'I can feel it.'
'The Law gestating within it.'
'It seems that it has worked.' Lorien thought to himself, a sense of satisfaction creeping over him.
'Once enough Laws are devoured by the Eternal Dream World, this power will feedback to the core of the realm, thereby giving birth to the long-awaited Laws of Dream and Reality.'
'Tsk, if only there were [Dream Devil] or [Reality Devil], that way, the transformation would be much quicker and more importantly more perfect as there would be a clearer guideline.'
Thinking of this, Lorien's mind began racing as he delved into the depths of his memory, recalling the original story.
'There were no mentions of such devils in the original.' He noted, 'So it's either they don't exist, or they didn't appear.'
'However, frankly, considering how even minor concepts have devils, it would be weird if Dream and Reality don't.'
'Not to mention that the fear of Dreams is actually a real thing called oneirophobia, even though it is mostly linked to predictive dreams and nightmares, it is more often generalized into the fear of dreams themselves, so the Dream Devil should indeed exist.'
'As for the Reality Devil, the fear of reality is also a recognized phenomenon, although it may not have a specific term like oneirophobia for the fear of dreams, the fear of reality can manifest in various ways and may be associated with conditions such as depersonalization or derealization disorders, where individuals may feel detached from themselves or their surroundings, leading to a sense of unreality or fear of the real world.'
The more Lorien pondered it, the more logical it seemed, and the more excitement surged within him.
After all, if his hypothesis were true, it meant that the Laws these devils carried would likely save him years of development and painstaking personal comprehension of Laws.
It was akin to the difference between possessing something already developed and having to create it from scratch.
Yet, despite his excitement, Lorien reminded himself to remain composed, after all, there were still tasks at hand that demanded his attention before he could entertain the prospect of such potential shortcuts.
'Let's deal with the devils here first.'
'If they aren't enough to allow me to fully evolve into the Law Stage, then I'll just go for a walk in Hell.'
'I need to first reach the Law Stage, then, I can go and look for these two Devils.'
Making his decision, Lorien didn't hesitate for even a single moment as he swiftly launched a powerful attack toward every single one of the Devils suppressed within his domain.
*Swish*
In an instant, as long as they were within his Domain, a supreme force descended from the sky, swiftly killing these devils and forcefully seizing the Law Force within them.
With precision and speed, Lorien then raised his hand and caught the Laws, numbering nearly a hundred as a frown appeared on his face.
'Weird...'
'These Laws are too scattered.' Lorien mused to himself, disappointment evident in his voice.
'They can't compare to the quality of the Law of [Eternity].'
'However, this is to be expected. If it weren't for the peculiar structure of this world, the Laws carried by the [Eternity Devil] would have been enough for it to be one of the top Law entities, given that this Law is a fragment of [Time].'
Shaking his head to clear his thoughts, Lorien decided not to dwell on this any longer as he then tossed the scattered Laws into the Domain beneath him, allowing them to be devoured.
