Jujutsu Kaisen: Nah I'd Adapt (Completed)

Chapter 6: Clan Head

[Author Note]

This is where the preamble is caught up.

__________

Damn, being judged by Toji isn't a pleasant feeling. He stood there for a few seconds before walking off, not bothering to wait or apologize to Naoya.

At this point, Naoya, while a genius, is still overshadowed by me. I had shown more promise before I had awakened my cursed technique. Now, it seemed, people were looking at Naoya to awaken his cursed technique.

Since I knew he would inherit Naobito's Projection Sorcery, I think it's safe to assume I won't be the clan head anymore...

Thank god.

I can finally have more time to myself! Naoya might become more arrogant, so I could still try to keep him in check. So far, I have done a good job acting like a good older brother.

Why do I even care about him at this point? Is it because he is my brother now? I can't explain it, but I have hated making him sad ever since I started being an older brother figure.

I was supposed to ignore him and focus on the dangers of this world, but here I am, worrying about my little brother who I would've gladly hated, had he turned out the same way.

You think you have it all figured out and have a goal you will strictly follow, but I'm only human.

2 Years Later

Just like I predicted, I'm no longer the clan head of the Zenin clan. While I would be a prominent figure in Hei, I no longer had guards watching me 24/7. I primarily had assistants to take care of my needs.

Naoya awakened his cursed technique a year ago and, ever since then, has grown a small ego. I was still his older brother figure, and I still cared for him, so while he would talk down to some of the servants, he was all smiles when talking with me.

I've developed my cursed technique to the point where I've figured out how it functions compared to Mahoraga's adaptation. First, it is an ability I turn on and off rather than specific techniques.

While I adapt to things, my cursed energy drains while adapting or already adapted to phenomena. The more complex, the more it is drained. When I turn my technique off, my adapted phenomena get deleted.

The draining issue won't be a problem in the future because of the sheer amount of cursed energy I will have. Currently, if I were to guess, I have the amount of cursed energy Yuta had when he first entered Jujutsu High.

The main issue that I was worried about was the burnout. If I use a domain and my technique gets burnt out, will all my phenomena get deleted until my technique returns? That is a dangerous thought for the future, but I still need to do some things.

I was curious about how I seemed to be getting stronger after some of my adaptations. My cursed energy is the cause of it.

While adapting, my cursed energy flow changes to make me resistant and immune to a technique, so when my adaptation ends, my body remembers the flow change.

It's extremely hard to pinpoint, but I believe that if I work at it in the future, I can manually turn on different techniques without having to adapt to them just by changing the flow of my cursed energy.

I was thinking about learning the flow required for Infinity's adaptation when I meet Satoru for the first time, so I won't need to adapt every time I interact with him, but that's for future Naohiro.

Right now, however...

"The first thing we will work on is your first clan technique. If you're going to join Hei, you need to understand some of the clan's techniques. This one is complex but necessary if you want to be useful to the clan. You've already disappointed us once; don't let it happen again. Now...[Falling Blossom Emotion!]"

Ogi was currently teaching me my first anti-domain technique. Naobito will personally train Naoya to be the clan head, so I moved down towards Ogi. While I hated his guts, Falling Blossom Emotion will be useful.

If you weren't dealing with a sure-kill domain, Falling Blossom Emotion was a valuable anti-domain technique since it works on countering the sure-hit attack with equal power. I don't plan on becoming a swordsman, but that might be a possible avenue.

I feel that Ogi is trying to make me into a swordsman because it's his whole schtick. Fodder courage is the most mid-boring technique Gege came up with aside from the helicopter dude.

I don't even remember his name, and I don't care to. I have no idea what he was smoking when he made that character. I was broken out of my thoughts when I heard Ogi speak up.

"Shroud yourself in cursed energy like a blanket. Then, have your body counter the cursed energy by reacting to oncoming attacks. We will first use your body and then move on to the sword."

Putting my hand forward, I expel cursed energy around my body and try to keep it attached, but it becomes wobbly and vanishes.

Man, it's a lot harder than it looks. "I'm trying to hold it together, but it feels like I'm losing control as soon as it leaves my body."

"Hmm, just train on holding your cursed energy around your body for now. You already know internal reinforcement, but external use of cursed energy will open new doors for you."

Wait a minute; I haven't worked on figuring out external uses of cursed energy yet. My technique is almost passive and hasn't needed to externalize it, so I haven't tried spreading cursed energy.

This might be the perfect thing I need to get on the path of a domain expansion!

I crack a smile and think Ogi noticed, but I don't care. I would create a domain expansion even if I had to bleed to get there!
