Chapter 34
At the time when Electra became the Tower Master, or rather the head of the Electricity School, it was still before Trinity had been established.
“Electra, I have entrusted you with a heavy burden. I apologize.”
“Apologizing? It’s an honor for me.”
“…Is that so? Well, you did smile so happily when you first walked the path of transcendence.”
For a long time, no wizard with an S-class Electricity attribute had appeared in the Electricity School. Thus, the next head of the school would be Electra, an A-class wizard.
Fortunately, Electra had stepped into the path of transcendence, so she was qualified.
“Yes. It is an honor to follow you, headmaster.”
The head of the Electricity School was a rather gruff individual. He never engaged in casual conversations with his students outside of magical guidance.
Electra had only spoken with the headmaster after entering the path of transcendence.
“…Did you think I was harsh?”
“Yes?”
“From your perspective, I must have seemed harsh.”
The head of the Electricity School spoke while looking at somewhere in the void.
“The position of the headmaster is like that. Especially in schools like the Electricity School, where few wizards are qualified to walk the path of transcendence.”
There were few wizards with inherent S-class or A-class talents in the Electricity School. That was true for the highest talents that were supposed to exist, but even compared to other schools, they were remarkably fewer in number.
Among them, only Electra had begun to tread the path of transcendence.
“I’ve sent many students away. Since the establishment of the wizarding society and the founding of the school, I’ve sent away a great many. At first, I felt attached. I wept while watching younger students’ hair turn white before mine.”
Electra quietly listened to the headmaster’s words. This was the first time he had spoken about his own experiences.
“It was painful. Losing precious people. Being left alone in the wake of their departure. So, at some point, I stopped forming attachments with my students.”
The head of the Electricity School was a deeply warm person. That’s why he came to avoid forming bonds.
That ultimately turned into suffering.
“Electra, you are truly warm and fond of people. That’s why I worry that you might become like me.”
Electra couldn’t respond. At that moment, she didn’t understand the meaning behind his words.
“However, the fact that I cared for you has not changed. Perhaps more than any other headmaster. And I suspect you will feel the same.”
“Headmaster…”
Instead, Electra tightly grasped the headmaster’s hand. The headmaster closed his eyes with a gentle smile that had never been seen before.
And Electra ascended to the position of headmaster and led the Electricity School.
As time passed, Trinity was established. The Electricity Tower ascended sky-high based on its achievements.
Through this, Electra began to understand the meaning of the words from the previous headmaster.
“Tower Master… I’m sorry…”
“There’s no need to apologize. Rest easy.”
One by one, students aged and passed away. And new students arrived. This cycle repeated, and one day Electra thought, “Ah, eventually they will all leave too. I will be left alone.”
Gradually, Electra stopped communicating with her students. She was tired of giving her heart and enduring the pain of parting with those she was fond of.
It was the fate of the transcendent, yet that fate felt painful for a warm-hearted person like Electra.
Thus, she began to fade into a gray hue, perhaps unknowingly feeling the loneliness.
Unbeknownst to her, the emotion that stirred within her was COL.
(Team) Electricity Mage Elite (Malphite): I’ll just hinder the Illusion Tower Master like last game.
In the final set of the Arcane War, the game began and Leah, the mid-laner, spoke up. Leah planned to block the growth of the Illusion Tower Master as she did in the previous game, using Malphite.
This time, the Illusion Tower Master picked Nocturne for mid. If things went well, it seemed they could handle it like during the Jedd match.
(Team) Zappy Zappy (Leeshim): I’ll focus on the bottom lane as much as possible.
(Team) COL Fun (Ashi): Yeah. Let’s all work hard to win.
(Team) Top Master Foot Let’s Go (Volibear): Yep!
(Team) Top Master’s Foot Wiper (Sonia): Four!
With the resolve of victory, the game began. Initially, both sides started off quite safely. And the early game unfolded similarly to the last match.
The only real difference was that the bottom lane was excessively wary of the threat posed by the ADC Electra. Even when Leeshim attempted a gank, he somehow managed to hold on without giving a kill to Ashi. Additionally, the enemy jungler continued to patrol the lower side, disrupting Ashi’s growth.
‘Not good. I need to start snowballing before reaching level 6. The enemy mid is Nocturne.’
(Team) COL Fun (Ashi): I think it would be great to dive Bottom now.
(Team) Zappy Zappy (Leeshim): I’m on my way back.
In this frustrating situation, Electra devised a dive plan together with the jungler, Ashi. She was impatient but never reckless. Calmly, she pushed the waves and looked for a diving angle.
(Team) COL Fun (Ashi): Now!
And just as the enemy support’s health dipped low enough, Leeshim landed a sound wave and dove in to take out the enemy support.
– First Blood!
(Team) Zappy Zappy (Leeshim): I’m out!
Unfortunately, the enemy ADC’s movements were sharp, so they could only secure the support. It wasn’t as rewarding as they had hoped, but getting a first blood was a significant deal.
Afterward, Electra reset, returning to buy items with enough gold to lead the enemy ADC.
That meant she could now continue her lane match with a clear item advantage.
As she returned to lane, determined to start snowballing with just a Long Sword’s advantage, suddenly—
– An ally has fallen!
Volibear had secured a solo kill at the top.
(Team) Top Master Foot Let’s Go (Volibear): I’m sorry, I made a mistake. I’ll make sure not to give up kills again.
(Team) COL Fun (Ashi): It’s okay. Take your time.
It wasn’t a good sign to have given up a solo kill at top, but Electra wasn’t worried for the moment. Like the previous game, they had lost the top lane but still emerged victorious. She thought that as long as they crushed the bottom lane, it would all work out.
Thus, the lane phase resumed. The enemy bottom was even more cautious, and no kills were coming out.
‘The Illusion Tower Master hasn’t accomplished anything in mid yet. There’s no need to rush. Once I hit my ultimate, I should be able to secure kills.’
Electra remained patient, waiting for the right opportunity. However, just before she learned her ultimate—
– Darkness, oh……
With a sudden darkness blotting out her vision, Nocturne’s voice resonated in the air. Nocturne had unleashed his ultimate in mid.
(Team) COL Fun (Ashi): Retreat!
(Team) Top Master’s Foot Wiper (Sonia): Four!
Electra, along with the support, hurriedly began to retreat. She was sure that the Illusion Tower Master would target her first, the one who was most vulnerable.
But her expectations turned out to be completely wrong.
– An ally has fallen!
(Team) Top Master Foot Let’s Go (Volibear): Ahhh! No, it’s coming for me? I’m sorry. I didn’t anticipate Nocturne’s ultimate…
The sound of a kill echoed, and once again, it was top lane. Nocturne had used his ultimate on top, and once again, Volibear was slain.
(Team) COL Fun (Ashi): It’s alright. Volibear, think of it as tanking later.
(Team) Top Master Foot Let’s Go (Volibear): Yes. Understood. I won’t die again, I swear!
Though the top lane was falling behind, Electra remained unperturbed. She reasoned that Nocturne’s use of his ultimate on the top must have been to secure that kill. The ADC, who needed to carry, was still growing steadily.
Meanwhile, Malphite was shoving the waves in mid, so it wasn’t a crisis yet.
– An enemy has been slain.
Once again, the bottom lane had secured a kill. This time, they could only manage the support again, but they managed to send the enemy ADC back, widening the growth disparity.
But then, at that moment—
– The turret has been destroyed.
– An ally has fallen!
As the turret fell, Volibear went down once more. The tower continued to take damage, and as a result, the first turret was taken down this quickly. It was rare to see such a rapid first turret loss.
(Team) Top Master Foot Let’s Go (Volibear): Ugh!!! I’m sorry!
Volibear suddenly sounded rather agitated. Naturally, it wouldn’t feel good to have lost the lane completely. Still, he suppressed his emotions and began to build tank items in front of the Tower Master.
Electra understood Volibear’s feelings, so she didn’t speak out. Instead, she thought only that she needed to grow stronger.
It was more effective to think of how to win than to express frustration at her teammates.
(Team) COL Fun (Ashi): It’s alright. The jungler should keep an eye on top while we cut down Jinx if she oversteps.
(Team) Zappy Zappy (Leeshim): Should I not check bottom?
(Team) COL Fun (Ashi): Let’s try to handle it ourselves.
– An enemy has been slain.
– Double Kill!
As promised, the awakened Electra achieved a double kill against the enemy bottom lane. She succeeded in diving without needing help from the jungler.
Widening the growth gap at the bottom filled her with confidence again. The mid was still holding well with Malphite, so by this point, victory was looking likely.
(Team) Top Master Foot Let’s Go (Volibear): Ah, Jinx is crossing the line here…
(Team) Zappy Zappy (Leeshim): I’ll go top. We need to catch something.
However, at top, they had already destroyed the first turret, yet the enemy Jinx kept pushing forward. It was a clear overstep.
If she ventured this deep, her death would be inevitable. Leeshim pushed in toward the top.
– Darkness, oh……
At that moment, just like expected, the map darkened, and Nocturne dropped onto Leeshim, catching him off guard.
– An ally has fallen!
(Team) Top Master Foot Let’s Go (Volibear): They keep coming in, huh?
(Team) Electricity Mage Elite (Malphite): I’m on my way!
Leeshim fell, and Volibear remained. But the Illusion Tower’s Jinx and Nocturne ignored Volibear and relentlessly targeted the tower.
Malphite, who had hurried in from mid, arrived just in time, but—
– The turret has been destroyed.
Jinx and Nocturne had smashed through the second turret at a blistering speed.
– An enemy has been slain.
– Double Kill!
However, it was clear the Illusion Tower team had overreached. Malphite arrived late, unleashing his ultimate and securing double kills against Jinx and Nocturne, swapping turrets for kills.
(Team) Electricity Mage Elite (Malphite): Can’t believe we managed to catch them.
(Team) COL Fun (Ashi): Let’s prepare for the team fight soon.
Electra likewise pushed down the bottom to take the first turret and then headed to mid.
It was the first time the top lane had been pushed to 2nd turret so quickly. Yet down bottom, they were significantly ahead in growth, and Malphite had also claimed a double kill.
With the current state, they needed to resolve this with a team fight.
And just as directed by Electra, the Electricity Tower began pushing mid. The Illusion Tower had no choice but to start blocking mid as well.
(Team) Top Master’s Foot Wiper (Sonia): I can’t see Jinx!
(Team) Electricity Mage Elite (Malphite): Should I use my ultimate now, Tower Master?
In mid, where a confrontation was taking place, Jinx was missing. With their power level ahead, there was nothing to worry about.
(Team) COL Fun (Ashi): Let’s go in now!
With Electra’s call, Malphite dashed towards the enemy, unleashing his ultimate, but he only managed to hit the enemy support while the rest blinked away.
– An enemy has been slain.
Swiftly taking out the support, the Electricity Tower team began shredding the mid turret, while the Illusion Tower had no choice but to retreat and wait for the minions.
(Team) Top Master’s Foot Wiper (Sonia): Uh? Top!
In the process, Jinx was spotted on the map. While the battle was occurring, Jinx had gone up to start attacking the inhibitor turret.
– The turret has been destroyed.
– The turret has been destroyed.
With unbelievable attack speed, Jinx completely destroyed the inhibitor turret. The Electricity Tower team had pushed mid 1st turret but had yet to reach the 2nd.
(Team) Electricity Mage Elite (Malphite): I’ll head home!
Malphite raced back to stop Jinx.
– The inhibitor has been destroyed.
In the meantime, Jinx had swiftly demolished the inhibitor.
Now, super minions would begin spawning at top.
– Darkness, oh……
At that moment, the lights on the map went out. Nocturne, using his ultimate, lunged at Malphite, cutting him off from retreat.
– An enemy has been slain.
– The turret has been destroyed.
Nocturne quickly took him down, but in that time, Jinx had weakened one of the twin turrets.
Now it was truly a critical situation.
The Electricity Tower was hastily returning home, and just as the last remaining twin turret’s health dropped below half, they finally managed to catch Jinx.
(Team) Zappy Zappy (Leeshim): What the heck? What’s with the pace of destroying turrets… Someone has to defend the house.
Suddenly, someone had to stay back and guard their base. The relief was that Ashi’s carry potential was still great. It was certain that they would win if they fought.
(Team) COL Fun (Ashi): Only Volibear remains; let’s pressure mid and look for Baron. If things spiral out, I’ll teleport in.
(Team) Top Master Foot Let’s Go (Volibear): Yes. Understood.
The game entered a brief lull as both teams regrouped. The Illusion Tower seemed to be growing by nurturing their jungle and minions.
(Team) Top Master’s Foot Wiper (Sonia): If Volibear just guards the house, should we call for Baron?
(Team) Zappy Zappy (Leeshim): I think so too.
(Team) COL Fun (Ashi): Let’s seize vision and take it. We might win even if a fight breaks out.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, the Electricity Tower began attacking Baron. The entire Illusion Tower team rushed to Baron upon realizing what was happening.
– Darkness, oh……
As Nocturne entered, the Illusion Tower unleashed damage onto Baron. Since they had hit Baron, the situation was not favorable.
(Team) Top Master Foot Let’s Go (Volibear): I’ll teleport in!
Eliminating the encroaching super minions, Volibear teleported. Since all five members of the Illusion Tower were in battle, this was a sensible choice.
– An ally has fallen.
– An enemy has been slain.
– Double Kill!
In the chaos, both teams rapidly traded kills that resulted in death. In the end, the winner turned out to be the Electricity Tower.
– Quadra Kill!
With a quadra kill, they secured Baron as well.
(Team) COL Fun (Ashi): Let’s charge mid!
With Baron buffs in hand, they sprinted toward the mid lane. The surviving members of the Electricity Tower were three, while only Jinx from the Illusion Tower had returned home.
Since the match had reached late-game, champions would take a while to respawn.
(Team) COL Fun (Ashi): Let’s end this!
(Team) Zappy Zappy (Leeshim): Yes!
(Team) Top Master Foot Let’s Go (Volibear): Sure!
In no time, the trio reached the inhibitor turret. Meanwhile, minions from the Illusion Tower were advancing from top but at a slow pace.
In terms of position, they were around the second turret.
Since they faced off against the Electricity Tower minions, there was no worry of the base getting overrun.
With only Jinx left from the Illusion Tower champions, Leeshim, Volibear, and Ashi should be able to take her down without much trouble. Thus, it was a smart decision to end the game.
Just as the Electricity Tower became confident in their victory while pushing the inhibitor…
Swoosh—
Jinx committed to teleport to top, abandoning her base, and rushed towards the twin turrets without even caring for the minions.
– The enemy inhibitor has been destroyed.
Simultaneously as the Illusion Tower’s inhibitor fell, she began to hit the last twin turret of the Electricity Tower.
The Electricity Tower team also began tearing through the twin turret at an astounding speed.
(Team) Zappy Zappy (Leeshim): What do we do, Tower Master!
Leeshim’s urgent shout rang out. And with one final blow, Jinx destroyed the twin turret of the Electricity Tower.
In that instance, it was as if time had stretched for Electra’s mind, spinning rapidly.
‘The time to return with the Baron buff is 4 seconds. No matter how fast I head to intercept Jinx, it’ll take more than 5 seconds, and considering Jinx’s attack speed…’
In a span of just under a second, Electra closed off her calculations.
Despairingly, if things went on like this, Jinx would shatter the Electricity Tower’s nexus quicker than they could stop her.
And even if they did teleport back, there was a huge probability they wouldn’t make it in time to stop her.
(Team) Electricity Mage Elite (Malphite): No! We can’t lose like this! We’ve won already…!
Leah, crying out in a similar panic from her dead state, echoed similar thoughts.
Electra made her decision.
(Team) COL Fun (Ashi): Don’t stop; keep pushing!
(Team) Zappy Zappy (Leeshim): Yes!!
(Team) Top Master Foot Let’s Go (Volibear): Understood!
With unwavering belief in Electra, the team continued hitting the tower. It showed just how much they trusted her.
Of course, Electra knew the truth.
No matter how fast they hit, Jinx would destroy the nexus faster.
But that didn’t mean she had made the wrong choice.
(Team) COL Fun (Ashi): Hiyaahh-!
Immediately after, in a swift motion, Electra aimed a Crystal Arrow at the Electricity Tower direction.
The magical crystal arrow illuminated the map and flew toward Jinx.
‘Please hit…!’
This single shot bore the weight of the lengthy arcane war’s outcome.
If it struck true, the arcane war would veer toward the Electricity Tower’s victory. Conversely, if it missed, the Illusion Tower would claim the win.
The last crystal arrow zipped across the map, and soon Jinx was just one attack away from demolishing the nexus.
…Moments later, the victor of the arcane war was determined.
