Chapter 36: Chapter 31 The flight of a burning moth

A moth found herself dancing around a perilous fire that could end her life at any moment. The eerie classical music in the background helped her calm down in this burning hell.

The room, once full of delicate decorations, was completely charcoaled. The ferocity of the flames charred everything inside.

The relentless fire sprouted out of everywhere, transforming the room into an oven. The more time passed, the more everything inside this place slowly cooked.

Su Yuan stood In the middle of the room. Her beautiful wings were now deformed by the destructive flames, half of her body bore the blackened scars of severe burns, and the black marks of being burned were extremely accentuated on her two right arms.

Broken constructions of silk filled the arena, some of them were burned, and some of them were barely standing. These shields have to withstand the fury of the flames, which they barely did the job.

The moth gracefully evaded a pillar of fire. Her battered wings barely functioned to give her that tiny boost so she could desperately dodge it.

The confrontation started again. The enemy, using his legs enveloped in flames as a fiery cannon, propelled himself forward with a powerful kick aimed at her.

Su Yuan quickly twirled her threads to make a barrier. The shield's feeble resistance didn't last long, being quickly devoured by the voracious fire until it was completely consumed in mere seconds.

Undeterred by the small barrier, he kicked the air again to lunge at the moth as he intensified the heat, causing the flames on his legs to blaze even brighter, aiming to end this with one kick.

Su Yuan swiftly created a strong silk barrier around her body just in time for the impending kick.

The impact landed in her guts, forcing her to spit some of her gastric juices. With resilience and determination, she resisted the attack, retaliating with a rapid succession of four strong punches aimed at the enemy's head, sending him flying.

Mid-air, without wasting time, the enemy fire molded into a bow. Su Yuan wanted to catch her breath, but the enemy didn't let her.

A barrage of blazing arrows went for Su Yuan's life. Mirroring what he did, Su Yuan created silk balls, shooting them at the oncoming arrows.

When the ball collided with the objectives, the arrows engulfed them, stopping their trajectory, but not every arrow could be stopped with this trick. The moth barely dodged the few ones that managed to pass.

With each passing moment she fought, she became more aware that if this didn't end soon, her life would end like those insects who unwittingly walked into the fire mesmerized by the light.

Seeing how the enemy didn't do anything, she seized the moment. Su Yuan entwined The enemy in her threads, momentarily restraining his movement.

The air gleamed with the ethereal reflection of her silk, creating a brief break in the midst of the flaming conflict.

The cocoon that enveloped him quickly transformed into an iron maiden performing the enemy armor.

As she saw how a part of the cocoon turned crimson red covering a piece of the cocoon, her hopes quickly vanished like a candle in a windstorm.

The enemy burned the silk maiden, not with some scratches, his armor was left completely ragged, and a few spikes managed to pierce his skin, but it wasn't enough.

Su yuan was tired, and the heat had become unbearable. Just breathing started to burn her lungs, with the smoke intoxicating her. The CO2 slowly fogged her brain.

Her dizzy movements left her vulnerable. The enemy, fueled by a fire within, capitalized on this. The pyromaniac erupted with renewed strength. The moth was one hit away from being consumed.

With a swift, acrobatic maneuver, he broke free from the remnants of Su Yuan's threads, launching a fire-kick thrust to seal her fate.

As he was mid-air, he realized they weren't alone now. A new presence occupied this room. Many questions invaded his mind.

Keeping his calm, he quickly kicked the air so the kinetic energy from his rush down reversed, propelling him backward to his initial position.

The enemy player stood with his guard heightened. He inspected

Daniel then asked, "They stopped sending messages a minutes ago, did the others die?"

Reluctantly, he responded, "Yes..." Daniel didn't know if answering would do any good, but if the enemy loses some morale, then it might work.

The flames on the enemy's legs intensified, burning brighter and brighter.

Expecting a fight soon, Daniel's sword started to glow, and Su Yuan got into combat position again.

Yet suddenly, the fire dissipated, the fire in his legs that once seemed capable of devouring everything in its path extinguished like a shooting star.

Dante and Su Yuan were surprised about this turn of events. Did he give up?

The enemy, however, offered an explanation, breaking the tense silence that hung in the charcoaled chamber. "You seem really tired, and she is too probably. I can kill both of you but I'll have to pay a high price for it."

"..." Daniel didn't say anything. He just observed analyzing the enemy's corporal reactions, trying to decipher a motive behind his actions.

With a neutral tone, the enemy spoke, "How about you let me go, and everyone goes happy."

...

Su Yuan, skeptical and vigilant, retorted, "You want us to believe that? This event wants us to kill us. The less players the more chances you have of winning."

The enemy replied, "exactly, probably this event will end soon, everyone is busy killing themself outside, this zone actually helped me a lot, it isolated us, letting us have a peaceful combat without any unwanted presence."

A contract materialized out of thin air, a small document carrying only a single page. The enemy, holding it in his hands, suggested, "If you don't trust me, you can trust this paper."

Daniel thought about it for a few seconds in his mind. 'should we?'

As Daniel cautiously approached, Su Yuan, with a sudden burst of instinct, yelled, "STOP!" Daniel halted his movement, with his hands instinctively reaching for the sheath of his sword. There should be a reason why she screamed, and he trusted Su Yuan.

"A pity..." With some dissatisfaction on his face, the enemy player took the contract and made a paper airplane, launching it toward Daniel

He responded truthfully, "You can sign it. Greed almost got me. There isn't any trick, the contract is straightforward and lasts just a day."

The insides of the contract were designed to prevent direct or indirect damage. They were written in the most simple fashion possible.

This had a few loopholes, but it was just designed to work for a few hours, not for an entire alliance.

With a cautious nod, Daniel and Su Yuan signed the contract. Together with the enemy, they left the scorched room. The only one who can let them leave is James. After all, this whole scenario just happened because of James.

Authors note:

Yes, I know I said chapter this Monday, but I also have life, I would wish to divert more time into this, but sadly I can't

Finally, the fights are over (I don't know how to write good fights, It's weird)

Oh, right, I need to know something about the fights, were they fine?

ALSO!

I'm thinking about letting James play any song, not only classical pieces (Ima use my "underrated song knowledge" to put things like "Mechanical Angel," and "From a place of Love" )
