Hancock rolled her eyes. "He asked for it. Who told him to treat me like this...?"
She caught sight of Jolyne watching her again and glared at her with mock ferocity. "What? Am I not allowed to bite him?"
"What? No, it's not that," Jolyne replied. "I was just thinking..." She trailed off, confused. Liam's physique was remarkable; no matter how good Hancock's teeth were, it seemed impossible that she could actually hurt him. "Never mind, maybe I was wrong." She offered an awkward laugh.
"Ridiculous," Hancock replied in his usual tone of indifference.
Robin, whose reading interests extended far beyond history into fields such as psychology, began to think. She suspected, just maybe, that Hancock was... Taking a step back, Robin watched Hancock's retreating figure, her expression shifting between recognition, skepticism, and quiet amusement.
The thought of the normally strong and domineering Hancock being... something else was unexpectedly intriguing.
'Hē hē hē hē,' Robin mused. 'This could be interesting...'
She quickened her pace and caught up with Hancock.
Before they knew it, the two had arrived at the gates of Kuja City, where a crowd of Kuja warriors had gathered, their anxiety palpable. When they saw Hancock and Princess Jolyne approaching, their faces lit up with joy.
Just as they were about to rush forward in tears of relief, a rapid sound came from above and grew closer.
"Elder Sister!"
"Princess!"
The Kuja warriors looked up to see a slender silhouette with broad emerald wings descending through the sunlight like a jade ribbon.
"Is it a dragon?!" gasped one of the nation's protectors.
"No, it's... it's Sander?!" Cosmos lowered her snake-shaped bow and stared in disbelief as the green-winged serpent descended. The creature's face was unmistakably familiar, as was the long green hair that fell from its head. On its back lay a girl with long orange hair.
"And Mari? What... what happened to you two?"
---
After a while, as Hancock walked away looking dazed and Robin followed her, Liam was busy having the B.I.B. extract the Medusa Mythical Zoan chip from his body. Confused, he remarked, "What's wrong with her? Did she just leave her stuff?"
He was about to go after her when the Snake Princess said with a smile, "I thought you'd use Rokushiki's 'Geppo' to descend."
Liam stopped, looked up and replied seriously, "It was ten thousand meters! Either I'd have to keep tapping the air to slow down, or I'd have to take fewer steps and use more force with each one. Either way, it just felt... clumsy."
He almost said "like a complete idiot," but reconsidered, doubting the Snake Princess would appreciate his keyboard warrior humor.
Kuma stood aside and looked at the pitch-black figure beside Liam. Clenching the pink paw pads in his palms, he murmured softly, "You already returned the Paw-Paw Fruit to me... That should be the case."
And yet, just now, Hancock, Jolyne and Liam had been sent back here by a Paw-Paw Fruit strike.
Dragon's sharp gaze shifted between Liam and B.I.B.
"You want to know?" Liam asked with a mischievous grin. "Dragon, tell me your Devil Fruit ability and I'll tell you why I can still use the Paw-Paw Fruit..."
The snake princess chuckled. "Little boy, the possibilities are not endless - it can only be one of a few reasons."
It could be that his "ghost" could record every Devil Fruit ability it had encountered, or perhaps... Kuma's mind raced.
He remembered the sequence of events when Giorno had used the Paw-Paw Fruit on Weatheria in little Skypiea - returning the ability, summoning his ghost, and releasing it again. The timing and order of these events replayed in his mind.
Dragon rarely laughed out loud, but this time his deep voice rang out. "Do you really want to know?"
He spread his arms wide, and in an instant, the clear, sunny sky over Amazon Lily Island was consumed by a thick blanket of dark clouds.
Boom... Rumble, rumble...' A low rumble rolled through the oppressive clouds.
At the gates of Kuja City, the Kuja warriors who had surrounded Hancock, her sisters, and Robin with countless questions suddenly stopped. The sky had darkened, and the sound of thunder echoed above them.
"Why has the weather changed so suddenly?" Cosmos exclaimed in surprise.
Robin raised her hand in amazement as a faint breeze slipped between her fingers.
"Wind?!" Hancock gasped. For the first time on Kujaisland, she could feel the air stirring around her without moving.
"Whoosh... Whoosh, whoosh!
Below the thick clouds, fierce winds began to rise and sweep across Kuja Island.
As she stood beside Dragon, the Snake Princess' golden hair was whipped into a wild dance by the stormy gusts.
Hua-la-la!
Dragon's cloak billowed violently, and ripples began to spread across the sea behind him. The ripples turned into waves, growing larger and more violent with each passing moment. Kujaisland seemed to be caught in the eye of a massive oceanic vortex.
"Quick, get inside!"
The gates of Kuja City creaked open, and Hancock, her sisters, and Robin were quickly ushered into the city by the warriors.
Hancock looked back as she entered. Giorno-Liam had not yet returned, but with Snake Princess, Dragon, and Kuma still there, she felt assured that nothing would go wrong.
'Ka-cha!'
A golden bolt of lightning snaked down like a snake, illuminating Kuma and the others. It threw fleeting highlights and shadows across the hooded face of the dragon, which appeared stark and resolute in the storm.
"Dark clouds, storm, lightning!" Liam muttered each word deliberately.
Hua-la-la!
The rain poured down in torrents, turning the world into a cascade of dense, silvery columns of rain. From a distance, it looked as if the entire Amazon Lily Island was enveloped in a water cage.
The downpour arrived as abruptly as it ended, drenching everything in moments before receding completely.
"A downpour..."
Liam tilted his head up. As the storm departed, the dark clouds dissipated and the wind subsided.
Once again, Amazon Lily island basked in the warm sunlight. Inside the city, the Kuja warriors and women looked up at the sky, confused by the rapid change in the weather.
Although they lived in the first half of the Grand Line, Amazon Lily Island, nestled in the Calm Belt, did not typically experience the chaotic weather shifts characteristic of the Grand Line proper.
Drip... Drop.
A single droplet of water fell from the golden tips of Dragon's hair, landing on the fractured ground below.
"I get it now," Liam said, staring at the cloaked dragon. "So you're the 'East Blue Dragon King Fruit'..."
Not only the Dragon, but also the Snake Princess and Kuma looked at him, their faces marked by visible question marks.
B.I.B., watching his host, was certain that he was doing this on purpose.
After syncing with its host earlier, it knew that the host had retained at least a vague impression of the Devil Fruit it had cataloged. With Dragon's latest display, the nature of his power should have been obvious.
Dragon slowly lowered his arms. "Many have speculated about my ability... Lightning Fruit, Storm Fruit, Rain-Rain Fruit... It seems everyone assumes I'm a Logia."
"But the answer is actually quite simple," he continued. "I ate the Weather Fruit."
"Paramecia."
