Chapter 42: So…That was the idea? I mean the [Idea]?
Something was... Off.
That was the thought that Elizabeth couldn't get out of her mind, she wasn't quite sure of what that was.
For some reason, she had this... Feeling as if something important had happened.
But a quick recall didn't show up anything at all.
Also, she had this gnawing feeling in her heart that she was supposed to ask something important.
But she had already asked, and Mother was fussing around in her purse for something to get.
At this point, the table was empty since most of the empty plates were on the dishwasher machine.
So they had the table ready for this impromptu class her mother was preparing.
"Soooo... [This]. The easiest way to think of that is as a prayer." Said her mother starting her class in the most awful way possible.
Her mother wasn't a believer, in anything.
She had proof of the existence of gods, devils, and everything in between, but she had an almost religious (Pun intended) hate for them.
"And now, don't give me that look. That is what it is." Said her mother while conjuring a holo board.
Why did she use magic if a single holo-projector would be enough?
"Now...The first recorded use of [Idea] is from the dawn of creation. Our own studies into it suggest that a sapient being used this to communicate with [The world] and nudge it into creating the first vestiges of life." Said her mother while showcasing images of a primordial world.
How did she get those?
"Other studies suggest that it was [The world] awakening from its slumber and trying to communicate to [Other beings]." And so she put an image of a planet with some kindergarten-level drawing of hands trying to reach towards the stars.
"We sincerely don't know. What we do know is that in the advent of whatever tried to speak. What came where [Words of Power]." She said and at that, the room trembled.
Like the fabric of reality was trying to accommodate whatever her mother was saying.
"So I could just simply say something like:'My favorite blajah plushy is alive.' And he would gain sentience?" Asked the blonde girl.
Her eyes were already planning some terrible things.
Only to get bonked in the head by a notebook that her mother materialized above her." Of course not. That would be silly." She said with a smirk.
"No one has that level of control nor power to do something like that." And she turned to the holoscreen and pointed to a picture that just had surfaced.
It was the picture of some kind of... Fish? It looked closer to a reptile if anything.
"This is what those things looked after around 10,000 years of living. Some nudges made by [Idea] here and there. And they would barely qualify as sentient, let's not talk about sapience." Answered her mother almost laughing.
That's rude, it was a totally valid question to ask!
"So...The evolution theory?" Asked the blonde girl.
"Heh, half-half. The worlds we used to sneak a peek on had more of a guided evolution brought in by the abuse of [Idea]." Said her mother showing a world with what looked to be a purple aura around it.
"So...How do I control it?" Said the blonde girl.
"Oh, that's easy. But first, we gotta understand how special you are!" Said her mother with a smile that brought chills to her spine.
"I think that's fine... Wouldn't want to impose, you must be tired." Started saying the girl while she tried to stand up to run away. "Besides we just ate!" She was running out of excuses.
The last time her mother taught her something with that kind of smile was that one time she was dropped in the ocean at 8 years just so she could learn how to swim.
Granted, she did learn...
But who throws children into the ocean?!?
"It will be no problem at all!" Said her mother and just before she could start her sprint to safety.
A magical circle smashed right into her face.
And so she braced herself and closed her eyes to prepare for the worst.

Several different warning screens had been shown.
All with some worrisome messages.
Especially the last one, why was it red?
Either way, she found herself floating in a dark expanse, for a second she thought this was the same space that her [Soulscape] was located.
But somehow she could instinctually know it wasn't.
She tried to call into her [Soulscape] to make sure, but sure enough nothing answered back.
She almost got a heart attack when she noticed that, but then remembered the first screen telling her how her mind, soul, and body were separated.
And with a flick of her will she summoned that particular screen again.
"...What?" Said the blonde girl, nothing came back.
No wait...Was she blonde?
Was she a girl?
Who was she?
"[Focus]!" Came a voice in front of her.
It was...What it was?
It looked like a yellow star.
Since when could Star talk?
No wait, why couldn't they talk?
She could talk after all, she then looked down at herself, and sure enough she was a black star. So if she a black star could speak, it was obvious that a yellow star could talk too.
Such silly thoughts she was having.
" Flumtrawzzled bippity-bop, ziggity-zag, wiffle-waffle, squibbly-squab, flibber-flab, razzle-dazzle, gibberish galore! " She tried to say to the yellow star.
No wait, that wasn't right...
Stars can't talk!
They don't have a mouth, silly me. Why did I think I could speak?
"[Yeah...This might be good enough, we don't want your mind drifting too far.]" Said the other star.
No wait, how could a star speak?
THAT WAS NO STAR!
She should run away, that was a monster!
It was probably an aberration or something!
"[... Stars can't move.]" Said the yellow star in a mocking tone.
Oh right, stars can't control where they move.
Then that yellow star somehow started weaving energy and soon enough a weird circle full of funny-looking figures and some weird gibberish materialized above her.
And then...
She was.
"MOTHERFASDFASDLFASHDF." Screamed the blonde girl coming back to herself.
She immediately summoned a trash can from her inventory and proceeded to unceremoniously puke into it.
After her accident trying to see the [Status] of Arthur she brought a few of these in her [Inventory].
"There there." Said the soothing voice of the yellow star...No...Of her mother.
"What...How...Why...I'm...?" Said the blonde...Girl...Yeah, she was a girl. A human. Not a star... No wait...That wasn't the right word, was it?
She now understood what her mother spoke of before...The word Star wasn't enough to describe what she was in that space...
No, she wasn't a mundane star, she had turned into a [Star].
"Why couldn't I speak after some time?" She asked her mother after finishing puking her breakfast.
"Why would you be able to? " Said her mother with a smile. "Stars don't speak, right?"
"But I could at the start." She answered, then after a moment she added"And I wasn't a star. But a [Star]." Said the blonde girl
Somehow the word taxed her.
She even could guess that it had taxed her mana.
Oh right, her skills...
She tried to will the blue screen into her sight and it didn't come to her view.
Weird.
"Amm...Did that mess up with my [Skills]?" Asked the girl, somehow that word didn't tax her as much?
That was weird.
"Oh, that...Yeah, I can see how that would mess up you." Said her mother while nodding to herself.
"Probably for the best if you don't use magic or skills before your [Soul] settles from the trauma." Added while rummaging in her purse.
Didn't she have a tablet before?
Weird.
Warning |
Re-synch in process.
Use of [Skills] will be limited for some time.
[Note: Use of skills is possible if the user has a more direct control of the skill] |
There it was, it took its time to show.
"Now with that out of the way!" Said her mother while raising a finger. "Use your [Skill] on me!"
"...You just told me to wait..." Answered the blonde girl.
"Try it." She said while making a come-on motion. "Unless you scared?" And added a taunt in there.
So childish...
As if she would risk her health just to do as her mother asked.
[IDENTIFY]!
Yeah...She fell for the provocation, but she didn't need to know!
Or so she thought since her head felt like she got hit by a wrecking ball!
And so, she summoned her trusty trash bin and proceeded to puke her dinner... Or what was left of it.
...She had liked that mango cake...
"Not like that!" Said her mother. "Focus your will into your mana, weave the [Intent], and focus it into your soul!" Added her mother while making some weird gestures with her whole body.
"So do I pray into the mana or something?" Asked the blonde girl summoning one of the shadow blobs that was still in the kitchen so that it would bring her some water.
Huh?
That skill worked fine though?
"YES!" Screamed her mother killing that train of thought by making her headache worsen.
"Uuuugh...I feel as if I had drank a whole bar." Said the blonde girl while massaging her temples.
"Eli-Eli, no drinking!" Came her mother's chastising tone.
The nerve when she drank even more!
She even had evidence!
She would even summon it from her [Soulscape] to show her........
Notice |
Dangerous thought detected, not enough mastery achieved. Rolling thought kernel back. Focusing on other threads of thought. Reinitiating thought process. Thank you for using Saintsworth's Conglomerate Mind Plug-In! |
Not that she could summon the evidence from her [Soulscape]. And since mother was adamant on the 'Keep the soulscape form a secret from everyone' she couldn't even invite her.
Ugh...
So focus...Focus...
The blonde girl started focusing her mind on what her skill was supposed to do. That train of thought she tried to [Weave] it into the mana, and then that mana she guided into the half of her [Soulscape] where the skill was located.
She almost could make the smirk of the blonde asshole in that part who even pointed to the right part of the laboratory. To the big computer that was installed at the far end of that place.
So she guided the mana there, somehow it had turned into a shadow tendril at some point.
It clumsily made its way and entered the screen.
In the real world though. Her body started to move on its own.
That wasn't that worrisome, some skills did that, the problem was her mouth.
It moved on its own. "[Identify]" and vocalized the name of her skill.
Soon enough she felt some mana leave her body.
Not much... A normal amount.
"THAT TOOK 80% OF MY MANA POOL?!?!?" Screamed in surprise at the blonde girl while a blue screen showed in her sight with the full status of her mother.

"I see. I see." Said the blonde girl after getting her temper under control.
Losing that much mana in one go had hurt.
Maybe she would need to focus more on wisdom and intelligence.
"Yes, that was how you do it!" Said her mother with a bright smile on her face.
That was the face of a proud parent indeed.
"Why do you have 80,0085 magical circles saved Mother?" But the blonde girl had more stuff to take care of.
"Oooh, you can even see that?" Said her mother without answering the question.
"And do you really only saved 1,337 spells in your nodes?" Added the blonde girl.
"Oh, that...Yeah, at my level of power, you don't really need to use the [Nodes] for much...I think Luci-Luci still uses them though. But she isn't a good example of this." Said the blonde woman muttering to herself.
If...If intelligence and wisdom affected how one cast spells...
And those numbers were accurate...
Mother was a monster, way beyond monster and perhaps straight into the realms of gods...
Was...Was that even something one could achieve?
"...Mama, you are scary." Said the blonde girl while looking up and down at her mother.
She couldn't believe what her skill was saying. But unlike with the previous times she used it.
"Aaawww." Said her mother. "It's okay Eli-Eli, mama will never do anything to hurt you!" And so she hugged her while trying to soothe her like when she had nightmares.
Even though she couldn't make the connection between these stats and the silly shenanigans her mother did.
She had this...Certainty.
She knew in her heart that the info was correct.
Even if some parts were garbled, she knew that if she got more mana... More [Authority] she could reveal those too.
But not now...
Right now she only wanted two things.
One was to sleep.
And the other was to hug something while sleeping.
She felt self-conscious at thinking about asking her mother to let her hug her while sleeping...
Perhaps she could ask Rossie?
"Also, you should try seeing what your [Skill] says when used on Papa." Added her mother.
"Just...Get more mana before. Just let me know first. I will try to lower [The level cap difficulty]" Added her mother.
Why did that translate as [The Level cap difficulty]?
"Can you say that without using [Idea]?" Asked the blonde girl.
"Amm...It would be...The Authority contest...? The Mana feedback...? Hmm...It's better to use the [Idea] since that translates it automatically accordingly to your [Understanding]" Said her mother.
Perhaps it was something from her skill then.
She would try to ask the blonde asshole later.
For now, she would keep hugging her mother while trying to not think too much about her stats.
How did she manage to lose status in Constitution?
And she had way more strength than 1!
The spanks she got as a child weren't of 1 strength!
Was she using magic at all times to increase her strength?
So many questions.
