Chapter 3: Being a Hero by Gwen Stacy
*Allen's POV*
Some students turned to look at me when I raised my voice; even a couple of girls started gossiping about me being weird, but I just smiled in response.
I felt an unknown force coursing through my body as the (on live) notification appeared on a floating screen.
[During the stream, all your statistics double. You don't need to sleep or eat. You're the perfect content creator who can stream 24/7 and edit like a Hollywood professional studio in a week... go ahead, host!]
I smiled slightly and stood up from my chair. Weirdly I'm not nervous. "One more thing, system, I'm Allen, don't call me the host."
"Are you okay, buddy?"
A guy beside me looked at me like I was a weirdo when I spoke to myself, but I didn't have time to worry about that.
"I fine buddy" I replied, and the guy's eyes widened.
I usually act introverted at school, but that doesn't mean I'm shy. I never considered myself like that. I have no social problems or anything. I just love my life without conflicts.
Unlike making videos, which require a lot of effort and creativity, streaming is easier in that sense but also requires other things.
- The gift of gab.
- The gift and ability to entertain.
- Courage to be in front of an audience.
All of that is something I acquired many years ago.
"Flash Thomson is unpleasant..." I said with an emotionless voice as I looked at Flash. What's important is the attitude, as Mr. Jackson said.
I walked amid all the students who seemed to have seen a ghost. I understand; if I saw someone like me, who appears skinny, almost scrawny, do this, I would also think they're crazy.
To people, this is equivalent to a rabbit picking a fight with a lion. The students parted ways like the sea before Moses; it was an interesting feeling.
Flash, who was laughing while flirting with the cheerleaders, froze. His face was comical as he looked at me as if he were seeing Biden and Trump having a romantic kiss.
Okay, I'm exaggerating, but my actions should be quite shocking to him and any of his friends.
I looked at Flash's friends, confirming my theory. They all had their mouths wide open, and most of them were the football team and some popular guys, led by Harry Osborn... that's strange; I thought he and Peter were friends.
Well, leaving that aside, the school's food chain is already predetermined, and everyone follows the status quo, but now I'm breaking it, and boy, am I breaking it!
Acting like a hero by challenging the lion is unthinkable. I looked at Gwen not too far from me, who was coming to try to stop me. She's an adorable girl, but I gave her a signal not to do it. She nodded, confused. Gwen knows I'm not someone who acts without a plan or backup.
Flash reacted after a pause of ten seconds. "I didn't hear that correctly... Did you say something?" Flash gritted his teeth after being insulted in his territory and felt intense, noticeable rage, but he restrained himself.
Unlike Peter Parker, who only teases him a bit to show off and impress brainless girls, in my case, I'm challenging Flash in his territory, defying the status quo. He looked at me with a desire to break all my bones.
I mustn't show weakness, even if inside, I feel like I should run in the other direction. I mustn't show it because jackals smell fear, and beasts like Flash will use any hint of fear against me.
"I wouldn't want to die, especially for someone like you. Imagine being killed by an idiotic gorilla who only knows how to pound his chest to court women."
Shut up! Close your damn mouth, Allen! Do you want him to kill us?!.
– Whew, that must have hurt the big guy. XD
– You're dead Allen, you know that, right? >:3
– Allen?! What are you doing?! Don't fight with Flash!
I could hear everyone in the cafeteria holding their breath. Even the cafeteria lady made a mistake and served the mashed potatoes on a student's head. Everyone stared in shock, and my chat didn't stop spamming comments.
Flash, a less evolved creature, seemed to freeze for a moment after hearing my response without the slightest hint of fear. Then he looked at me seriously while his eyes wandered around. It seems he's not as stupid as he appears.
Flash must have thought I had support from someone or something, which is why I dared to challenge him. Otherwise, no one in their right mind would think I'd dare to do this.
Well... it's true, I do have support!
If the legend is true, it's the best support in the entire universe, even above God. I have a system!
Yes, I have a system! I'm invincible, hahaha!
[Remember host, I've only doubled your statistics, and you're not a superhuman yet. Flash Thomson still has more brute strength.]
Huh?
[Host, you're weak, so even though I've doubled your statistics, you won't become superhuman.]
Hahaha... I'm dead...
"Being a hero isn't my thing! I want to go home and watch a movie!"
Fuck!... I shouted that out loud, I just ruined the mood.
I looked around, but people acted the same as a while ago. It's as if they didn't hear my pathetic scream.
[Host, you activated "stream mode," remember?]
Yeah...
[Stream mode creates a soundproof area about one meter in radius around you.]
"Does that mean they can't hear me speak?" I said nervously, but indeed, no one seemed to hear it.
[As long as you don't address a specific person, with stream mode, you can interact with your chat comfortably, and no one will hear you. They won't even see you move your mouth.]
"I see Hahaha Potter, I never bother you... do you know why? because I thought you understood how this works, and besides, you're friends with Gwen Stacy, William has an interest in her..." He cracked his knuckles as he menacingly approached.
"What did you say?" I felt a twinge of anger inside me at his words. Gwen frowned not far away when she heard Flash's words.
Are these idiots after Gwen? It's not in my power to decide who she dates, but I'd die before letting these bastards get close to Gwen.
"She's too good for scum like you and your friend Flash!." This time I said it without acting. Flash's attitude truly irked me.
Flash reached out his hand to grab my neck. I can ruin his plan, I'm twice as agile, twice as fast, and twice as flexible. I dodged his hand. Flash seemed surprised that I was faster than I should be. I used my fist and punched him in the cheek.
"How dare you, idiot?!" Flash shouted in anger but without the previous arrogance. He took a boxing stance. I should have hit him harder when I had the chance.
– Kid, there's no shame in running from such a power difference.
Flash, feeling humiliated, clenched his fists and threw a couple of quick punches, but I easily dodged them.
– Careful, Allen!
– Kill him, Flash!
Who the heck put the last comment?! I'll show them I'm not weak!
Flash threw a punch with a sneer on his face but I dodged it with my enhanced speed. I punched him in the face. Flash recoiled from my blow and wiped his lip in disbelief; there was a drop of blood coming out. Even if strength isn't my strong suit, I'm still twice as strong. He must have felt that blow.
"Damn!! I'm going to kill you!" Flash shouted in anger.
– Allen run!
– That's right Allen, you're a geek who buys sex dolls, there's nothing you can do buddy.
"Hey, I saw you this time Rick137 You're banned for a week!"
– Rick137– Come on, man!, it's just a prank! I'm your friend... for now.
Flash clenched his fists and punches, but I easily dodged them due to my agility, surprising everyone, and even myself.
[Host has double the reflexes of a normal person.]
Flash frowned, It seems they no longer consider me a victim but an opponent. I'm not sure whether to feel happy or worried.
I prepared for his punch with a similar guard, although I've never fought before, so He will destroy me if this fight drags on. That's why I plan to do a fast counter.
"Die Potter!"
Flash struck with all his might. I barely dodged. Now!, I leaned my body forward, and put all my weight on my fist I hit him with a devastating blow, taking advantage of my speed and Flash's momentum, my fist hurt but I felt like something on his face broke.
"Ugh!... you!... Potter... b-bastard..." Flash fell with an expression of disbelief; he had lost to a bespectacled nerd in front of the whole school.
– Damn, his ancestors must have felt that, hahaha! F in the chat.
– Allen: "Call an ambulance, but not for me!" XDD
My chat is as supportive as always... I'm being sarcastic.
[Don't worry, host, it was a good hit... now claim the girl]
I'm sure it doesn't work that way in this era.
Frustrated, I looked at Flash on the ground. "My name is Allen Walker" I clenched my fist and looked at Flash with anger while he was on the ground, clutching his mouth, which had several broken teeth. "Say me 'Potter' one more time, and I'll rip your balls off Flash!"
"...You," Flash tried to get up but couldn't and fell back down.
I looked at all the stupefied students and raised my hands. "Don't worry comrades, I'm fine."
– Hahaha.
– Wtf, you didn't just kick his ass; you humiliated him, hahaha, I love it!.
Gwen approached me. Her expression seemed like a mix of concern, confusion, relief, and joy.
Gwen is a beautiful blonde girl with blue eyes, but don't be fooled; she's not just a pretty face. Gwen is an intelligent and strong-willed girl who won't let herself be walked all over. She always seeks to do what's right her way, even if it lands her in trouble.
If I hadn't intervened, she would have helped Parker by herself. She's a good person who doesn't tend to consider the consequences of her actions. One of these days, she'll get into trouble, but that won't happen if I can prevent it.
"Gwen..." I opened my mouth, trying to speak, but I noticed that I was out of breath. It seemed that the adrenaline in my body was running out.
"Are you okay?... wait not here!" She led me through the crowd holding my hand.
I managed to see one of Flash's friends in the crowd giving me a murderous and jealous look when Gwen held my hand.
I already knew this would happen and I didn't care, I smiled at William, for a moment he looked like he wanted to kill me. I looked at the pretty blonde girl walking in front of me and convinced myself that it was worth paying a small price to be next to her.
[Host, I remind you that you're still on live.]
System... Gwen is holding my hand, I can't talk to my invisible chat, she'll think I'm crazy.
[Host, you can think of a message, and I'll automatically post it.]
Oh, that's useful.
«Bastards, you didn't have confidence in me, right?»
– Allen?
– wtf :0
– How are you commenting?
Damn, it's true; how is it supposed to be normal that I'm posting comments in my chat while I'm not writing? System why didn't you tell me this would happen?
[Allen, remember, I'm the Absolute Content Creator System; all my functions are based on you creating content. Besides, this isn't a TV program or a movie; a good creator requires mutual interaction with their chat. You can't hide me; in fact, claiming that I'm with you gives you more fame, more power, and other things.]
Well, that's true... my system is different from the others; it can't hide so easily because it depends on the public. But saying I have a system ensures me a place in a lab; I'd rather say I have superpowers.
[As you wish, Allen.]
Now I'm afraid of the things I'll get involved in because of the system.
