chapter 1087
27. Why not go crack some walnuts with that hard mouth? (Seeking votes~)
With the disappearance of the “monster” that I can no longer refer to as the leader of the Great Yng Empire’s Knight Order, Lance, deep within the snowy plains of Northern Ireland, the “sense of chaos” that had been subtly irritating from the very beginning has also mostly vanished. This is probably proof that I have finally resolved the root of the “chaos” in Northern Ireland: I can feel the script in my hands regaining its vitality, and the power of the Order Fairy is no longer suppressed by “chaos.”
If I had to say there was any regret, it would be that, despite finally finding and resolving the source of the chaos, I wasn’t particularly happy when it all ended, and as for any “joy of victory,” that was even more out of the question.
I certainly know the reasons behind it, so I didn’t intend to let everyone linger in this unnecessary sadness. I firmly called out to the silent Sword Fairy, Lance, who was still lost in thought, and together with Kephiel, the three of we hurried back to the city of Northern Ireland.
At this moment, it was already evening.
“Thank you all for your hard work. As promised, your ‘ammunition reimbursement’—you just need to tally it up and have Letty send the bill to the Great Yng Empire. Northern Ireland is under lockdown tonight, so if you want to leave , you can just go first thing tomorrow morning; after all, there isn’t much decent defense left in the city.”
I was saying goodbye to Letty’s wolf cavalry guards. Although they were basically just here to help out, without this group of tough Russian brothers, it would have been quite difficult to deal with those “monstrous fish” affected by the chaos earlier. Letty had really helped me a lot this time.
“As for Letty, you can go back and inform her. Once some of the ‘troubles’ in Northern Ireland are resolved, I will pay her a visit since it’s nearby.”
At first, I felt a bit moved, but… this group of brothers quickly showed me what Russian “boldness and ruggedness” really meant.
“So… when are you going to have kids?”
What!?
One of them shouted loudly, as if I wouldn’t know, and then added, “I’m asking, when are you and our Great Emperor going to have kids!?”
Why are you shouting so loudly! It’s not like I was stunned because I couldn’t hear!
Before I could respond, another one chimed in, “Hiss… but the Great Emperor, she, um, that… has she come? It seems like she can’t have kids, right?”
“How would I know about such things! Isn’t the internal affairs handled by Rasputin!? Just ask that old woman and you’ll find out!”
But I don’t want to know a thing!
Don’t shout such things in front of me! Are you not afraid of being sliced up by Clefair?!
I quickly made up an excuse and fled from this group of blatantly unguarded Russian straight men. After all, everything had come to an end, and though the affairs of Northern Ireland were numerous, before dealing with them one by one, I still had some … personal matters to attend to.
So, after shaking off the Russians, I… went alone to the Lord’s manor, to the office that still belongs to Arthur, the commander of the Great Ying Empire’s Crusader Knights. Even without a script, I knew the person I was looking for would be here.
Compared to the numerous affairs awaiting resolution, I felt the first thing that needed calming down was… her—the fairy of Arthur, the Sword Fairy Lancelot, who in a way was also the “only member” of the current knights.
As my gaze fell, it was just as I imagined: despite having gone through a near-death duel this morning, this fairy still showed no sign of rest. She had shed Arthur’s disguise and returned to her true fairy form: her indigo hair was messy, her eyes unfocused, her spirit exhausted, yet she still maintained her stance beside Arthur’s chair, silent, as if this was her rightful place.
What is she thinking? Even my blunt appearance didn’t catch her attention immediately.
But at this point, I wasn’t foolish enough to pry into a girl’s inner thoughts from her script. All I knew was: speaking any “comforting” words to this fairy at this moment would be useless. It would only make her feel like I was being pretentious. After all, when she fought her master this morning, there wasn’t a moment of hesitation. She had long made up her mind, so she wouldn’t feel regret.
As for now? This was just a normal sense of sorrow. A fairy who could personally execute her “chaotic” master didn’t need greasy encouragement. This fairy’s personality was simply like this.
“What’s this, regret?”
The only thing I could do was get her “moving” again, even if it meant just arguing—at least it would drive away the disappointment she felt inside.
Lancelot finally raised her head.
At this point, both our identities were already known to each other, so there was no need for pretense. Lancelot didn’t bother with pleasantries, and directly spoke to me.
“Hmph, how could I regret it? I merely killed a monster. This is an internal issue for our knights, and naturally, it should be resolved by us. Even if it’s down to the last person, we cannot shrink from fighting.. .My lady is just such a proud fool~”
However, after she finished speaking, she let out a deep sigh, her expression visibly sinking with disappointment. A hint of self-mockery crept into her smile as she said, “Though, what I’m saying now has no convincing power. After all… it was still that woman who was finally dealt with by you guys. I heard that the genius Clefair from the Great Ying Empire found a man. At first, we all thought there was no way anyone could match Clefair, but now it seems…”
It was no longer just my impression—this fairy was still likely “struggling” with the aftermath. Every word she spoke was filled with her thoughts about her master.
“My lady would definitely be shocked if she saw you now. What kind of power did you use back then? Magic? Not bad, it really did feel like there was an ‘amplification’ effect~”
“Focus on yourself. Your ‘task’ is far from over. You’re the last remaining member. From now on… you might even have to personally explain everything to the Queen of the Great Ying Empire…”
Sure enough, Lancelot… immediately sank back into disappointment.
Even though she still maintained an indifferent attitude, the sorrow radiating from her body was something I could feel without needing a script.
“Ah, ah~ I don’t want to do this anymore. Originally… I planned to perish together with that woman of mine, so I never considered what I would do if I survived… Although it seems I can’ t really do anything now.”
“The knight order is gone, and I don’t have to worry about Northern Ireland anymore, I… seem to have nothing left…”
“What are you thinking?” I interrupted Lansi’s self-deprecation, “You’re just going to run away? You haven’t even ‘taken your revenge’ yet, don’t tell me you’re so saintly that you don’ t like retribution.”
The fairy was momentarily taken aback, finally stepping out of her sorrowful state.
“Uh? But, but hasn’t the master already died? That ‘chaos’ has also been dealt with by you, hasn’t it already…”
“You’re too naive. That was just one source of the ‘chaos,’ just a part of it.”
I wasn’t lying to comfort Lansi because… the script indeed told me so.
【”Chaos” has temporarily disappeared!】
Temporarily disappeared means it still exists! Therefore, I didn’t feel even a bit of joy after “solving the chaos,” because my mission is far from complete; at most, it’s just a temporary victory.
Moreover, from this point, it can be seen: “chaos” doesn’t seem to be limited to just one person, so… if we don’t find the essence of “chaos,” things like today will likely continue. What we dealt with this time was merely a “small BOSS” deeply influenced by the “chaos.”
“The true ‘chaos’ still exists, of course… I don’t know where it is. But one thing is certain: your ‘grudge’ hasn’t been avenged yet.”
This was meant to encourage this fairy, and perhaps for myself as well, because Lansi’s existence seems to directly confront the “chaos.”
So whether it’s coincidence or illusion, I wanted to give this fairy a hand, least she truly give up on herself.
“Think about it. If you decide to ‘do something,’ come find me.”
I stopped rambling and decisively chose to leave; this fairy was mature enough to arrive at her own answer without regret.
“Although it can’t be considered ‘helping you take revenge,’ at least… I can tell you more about the ‘chaos,’ Sword Fairy Lansi.”
