chapter 1086
26. I am the Swarm!
Meanwhile, on the other side.
For the brave and battle-hardened Rossiya Wolf Cavalry, especially the elite guards who had always served the Emperor Ivan Redi of the Rossiya Empire, “battle” meant charging into the fray. If they couldn’t fight happily and engage in a true contest of men with real blades, but instead had to huddle together and shoot from cover…
Though it couldn’t exactly be called “ignorance,” it was pretty much the same as asking them to eat shit.
But this time, everyone strangely had the idea that “taking cover and shooting from a distance might be more appropriate.” It wasn’t just a gut feeling, even their good brothers—the big white wolves—had changed their usual fury and bloodlust , opting for careful observation.
It was odd, but no one could pinpoint what exactly felt strange. Was it because of the increasing number of “humanoid monsters”? Or… was it that each of these monsters seemed to require several shots to kill?
They couldn’t make sense of it.
Don’t think about it; anyway, no one is good at this kind of thing. What the wolf cavalry of the Rosia Empire excels at is fighting!
“Fire! Fire, fire! All ammunition will be reimbursed by the Great Yng Empire! Just fire!”
“Captain! The little girl that good brother asked us to take care of is missing!”
“Huh!? She probably got scared by the gunfire and ran back to the city! We’ll look for her after it’s over! Stop being so annoying, Brit, can’t you understand!? Fire!”
The Rosia wolf cavalry, with only thoughts of shooting and fighting monsters in their minds, did not pay much attention to the silent disappearance of a figure.
So…
When this small figure appeared deep in the snowfield, no one noticed her. She was dressed in the attire typical of the fairy maids of the Rodema Empire, her short black hair occasionally lifted by the cold wind mixed with falling snow. Her eyes, amidst the surrounding white snow, appeared even more crimson, and one of them even sparkled with a bright light.
Clearly, it was a perilous snowfield, and even without the “chaos,” there were certainly fierce beasts lurking! The girl had carelessly appeared in such a place, which was incredibly dangerous! And in the next moment, that danger had already arrived!
Surrounding sounds and gazes gradually increased; they were the voices of beasts that had nearly lost their sanity, plunged into chaos, and were left with only their hunting instincts. Moreover… there were quite a few of them! The moment they sensed the girl entering their “line of sight,” they roared and pounced! This danger seemed far beyond what the girl’s frail and powerless body could resist!
However, a strange scene unfolded in the next moment! The “beasts,” which had been frantically hunting their prey, suddenly seemed to go mad as they rushed towards the girl, rolling on the ground instead! Their piercing wails rose and fell, quickly absorbed by the surrounding whiteness of the snow.
Yet, this bizarre sight was far from over! After the wailing, the beasts that got back up… began to frantically attack and tear apart their own kind! And the girl, who was clearly right in front of them, seemed to be completely ignored! Soon, these beasts fell beneath each other’s fans.
A thick black mist began to rise, but before it could disperse…
It was as if it had been drawn away, all… going into the girl’s eyes.
Accompanied by the girl’s murmurs, her steps continued to move forward.
“Is this… the ‘mission’ that the ‘King’ told me about?”
What had just happened was merely the beginning; next… all the black mist that faintly spread across this snowfield seemed to be guided by some force, beginning to converge towards the girl who had taken a step forward, flowing like water into her eyes , which were gradually radiating light.
“Then… I indeed have to fulfill my ‘mission,’ because the ‘King’ is very careless.”
Ultimately, the girl stopped at a “battlefield” formed by fallen towering trees. At this moment, it was already deserted, and all possible “traces of battle” had been quickly buried beneath the white snow. Only from the surrounding snow-laden firs , which had collapsed to some extent, could one catch a glimpse of the “battle” that had taken place here.
But what the girl cared about was not “who was fighting whom,” but rather… the things that existed right before her at this moment.
If there were others present, they would surely say, “There’s clearly nothing here but white snow!”
The girl, however, saw in her eyes… black mist, thick, pitch black, coalescing into a mass, as if it had a soul of its own!
Then, at the moment it sensed her presence, it swiftly flew towards her!
This time, the girl still made no move, because… in the face of this black mist, it was less that the mist attacked her, and more that… the girl’s gaze absorbed every last bit of the black mist into her eyes!
The intense impact caused the girl to stagger back a few steps, and strange words began to mumble from her lips.
“Why won’t you come to save me!?”
“Without me, you are nothing! A broken sword, a pile of useless people!”
“Kill me, Lansi…”
This strange state did not last long; soon, the girl returned to normal, and no more strange words escaped her lips.
However, in the next moment, her appearance seemed to be gradually growing: her black hair slowly lengthened, her body slightly increased in height, and even her cute face became increasingly youthful and beautiful.
And it didn’t stop there. The “sword” in the girl’s hand, which had no blade, began to spiral and condense with black mist. Although it still wasn’t long, it stopped at the length of a “dagger,” but… it was clearly “growing”!
The girl, silently enduring herself all of this, finally calmed down after the “sword” ceased to grow. Then, she spoke to, softly murmuring.
“I see, recognizing a master… is not like how Ke Fei Er does it; it should be like this to recognize a master.”
“But why is Ke Fei Er’s attitude towards the ‘king’ different from how her fairy treats her? Who is right, and who is wrong?”
“I don’t understand; I still need to ‘learn.'”
In the end, the girl turned to leave. The vast snowfield behind her had now become “normal,” and the gloomy atmosphere that seemed to have always existed within it completely vanished with her departure.
“However, I want the ‘king’ to acknowledge me; does the ‘king’ want to use fairies like her, to use me?”
“I don’t understand; I still need to ‘learn.'”
“If only there were someone… who understands the existence of the ‘king’ and could teach me these things. Because…”
“I want the ‘king’ to have me; I also want it to be… my ‘mission.'”

Recently, the character illustrations have started to pile up, and I will resolve them slowly.
