Chapter 22-2
Duke Adelaira’s Mansion, second-floor hallway.
It was evening when Sion and Hanette finally returned to the mansion, and they headed to the study after being called by Robbins.
After a brief conversation with Robbins, they came out into the hallway again.
Sion looked around and climbed the stairs first.
“… Sister, do you know what that means?”
“It means to spend the night with you.”
“It’s okay if you know. So, what do we do now?”
“Is there anything difficult about it? We just need to go there and sleep for a few days.”
“Is that all?”
Sion asked tentatively, thinking of something else.
Their destination was still undecided, and he needed to obtain the Exceed Rain.
Since Robbins had made an interesting proposal, he wanted to see if Hanette had any thoughts.
“Okay, if that’s all, what else do you need?”
“Everything’s fine… I just want to choose the location.”
“So, you want to choose where we’re going?”
“Right. Is that okay?”
“Hmm…”
Hanette looked at Sion suspiciously.
There must be a reason for such a request.
Perhaps it had something to do with the gloves he bought at the auction house.
“What’s the reason you want to deciding?”
“…Then let someone else decide.”
“What? Are you giving up too easily?”
“I just asked because there’s a place I wanted to go to.”
Sion lies easily and cautiously looks around.
If Hanette investigates about Exceed Rain, it would only cause interference.
Of course, it wouldn’t be good for Hanette to choose a travel destination, but there was already a plan in place for that.
“Where do you want to go?”
“I thought of heading east. I heard there’s a lot of delicious food there.”
“Just because of that one thing, you’re going to the eastern region?”
“There will also be things to see… and the weather is warm, making it a good place for a walk.”
“Are you really going because you want to rest?”
“If it’s a vacation, We should rest well before coming back. Does my sister dislike traveling?”
“Not really. I like being here.”
But Hanette couldn’t refuse Robbins’ persuasion.
In fact, it was almost an order, and she had to go on a trip with Sion.
During the trip, she could only think of secretly taking some money since they were generously given travel expenses.
“I have no choice. I can’t not go, can I?”
“You’re lucky. You wanted to go, right?”
“It’s just an opportunity. If my sister doesn’t want to go, I can’t force you.”
Sion also didn’t want to waste time on unnecessary things.
He just needed an excuse to get Exceed Rain.
Exceed Rain was hidden in the eastern region of the Alein Kingdom.
‘I have to find it quickly and bring it back. I can’t leave it unattended for a long time.’
Although it was formal, it was a journey with Hanette. There would be knights, maids, and servants accompanying them, and it wouldn’t be easy to move alone.
Of course, unlike Hanette, his reputation was not bad, so he could pretend for a while even if he had to force it.
‘I have a rough idea of where it is…’
Although Exceed Rain was buried in the person’s grave, but it eventually escaped after breaking the seal.
Even though he had sealed himself, sacrificing his remaining magical power and physical body, he could not withstand the passage of time. As a result, Exceed Rain ended up in the hands of the demons, face to face with the protagonist.
‘That person must also have his limits.’
At one time, El Tesoikve and Exceed Rain were both dealt with, but he could not destroy Exceed Rain until the end of his lifespan.
That person sealed Exceed Rain in the eastern region of the Kingdom of Alain to prevent it from falling into the hands of demons and monsters.
No one knew where Exceed Rain was hidden, and It was protected by magic, so no one could approach It recklessly.
“Okay. You decide on the location. I’m not really interested.”
“I’ll look for a nearby place.”
Sion went into the room, leaving Hanette behind. Since everything was already prepared, there was nothing difficult about it.
He just had to go to the hidden location and extract it.
‘It’s still in the beginning stages… so there shouldn’t be any problems.’
***
In the eastern region of the Kingdom of Alain, in the middle of a forest.
Sion spent the first day in his lodging and only managed to escape on the second morning before Hanette and her escort knights.
He had to finish quickly before they noticed his absence.
If he could return before lunchtime, he could easily play it off.
‘There is light, but buried in darkness. At the end of the shadow lies his tomb.’
Sion hurriedly moved his feet, trying to find a place that met the given conditions.
The location where Exceed Rain was sealed was summarized in two sentences.
The place was hardly ever touched by human feet, and even the entrance was skillfully hidden by magic.
‘Buried in darkness means there are many trees, and at the end of the shadow means they come together as one.’
As he went deeper into the forest, the sunlight disappeared.
Faint shadows were drawn along the surrounding trees.
He had to find the center where the shadows gathered.
‘I think I’m almost there…’
Sion stepped forward, checking each shadow.
As he moved forward, the shadows became lighter and the darkness deepened.
However, amid it all, he could see the line created by the shadows.
‘Here it is.’
Sion reached out his hand, carefully, discerning the subtle differences.
Then, a wall made of magical power gradually revealed its form along his fingertips.
‘Since I have the qualification, if I go in like this…’
Confidently, Sion pushed forward and went inside.
Then, the wall made of magical power swallowed his body and eventually erased it completely.
‘..It’s too clearly exposed.’
Suddenly, Sion found himself in another space.
Seeing that all sides were covered with cliffs, it seemed like he was in a cave.
In the center of the cave was the sword he had been searching for so desperately.
‘Exceed Rain…’
