Chapter 10-1
Sion – “I don’t know, but I know your personality is eccentric.”
Hanette -“Me, eccentric? Hey, I’m a really nice person.”
“… ”
Sion looked down at the bottle of alcohol in silence.
Hanette had consumed about half a bottle and was now drunk, with her posture unsteady and her voice slurring.
Hanette – “What did I say when we first met? I said I would speak informally because you were young, right?”
Sion – “That’s right.”
Hanette – “But what if you start speaking informally too? What will become of me?”
Hannet spoke louder while poking Sion with her elbow.
As a result, the calm atmosphere was broken and Sion quickly turned back to Hannete.
Sion – “Be quiet, people are staring at us.”
Hanette – “Let them stare. Who cares if a crazy person like me talks nonsense?”
Sion – “Didn’t you say. You don’t like being called ‘crazy.’?”
Hanette – “They’re going to say it anyway. Just let them. It’ll blow their minds.”
Hannett points to the bottle and gives a mischievous smile.
Sion is so dumbfounded that he can’t speak for a moment.
Sion – “Okay, I got it. Let’s just go back now.”
Hanette – “What do you know? What do you even know?”
Sion – “Fine, I’ll use formal language if you want.”
Hanette – “That won’t work. It’s not fun if you’re being formal. Don’t do that.”
Sion – “…”
Sion struggled to hold his cloudy judgment and became lost in thought.
Hannet changed her words for a moment and acted capriciously.
Even if Sion wanted to match Hannete, he couldn’t.
Sion – “So you’re saying to be polite, not to dry up?”
Hanette – “Don’t bother being polite. If you do, I’ll feel lonely”
Sion quickly understood the meaning of her words.
Hannet had never been friendly with anyone before meeting the protagonist.
Not only did she have no friends, but she also kept his distance from her family.
She had tried to escape from her family in any way possible because she always felt pressured.
Sion – “Okay. What else can I do for you?”
Hanette – “Heheh… What can you do for me?”
Sion – “Shouldn’t I know what my sister wants before that?”
Hannet squinted her eyes and leaned back, as if pondering deeply.
After a while, she turned her head.
Hanette – “I always think about it, but there’s no answer. Even if I do this or that, I don’t know if it’ll work.”
Sion – “Other people also think the same way.”
Hanette – “Why are you thinking of other people here? Listen only to me.”
Sion – “Who else would I listen to besides my sister?”
Hanette – “Is that so? Hehe…”
Hannet casually laughs it off and brushes it aside.
Sion lets out a sigh and brings the bottle of alcohol to his nose.
Seeing the strong smell emanating from it, he wondered if it was some kind of strong drink.
‘She drank this to act tough in front of me. I should have checked beforehand.’
Sion plugs the cork back into the bottle and pushes it to the side.
She couldn’t drink anymore and probably wouldn’t have wanted to, anyway.
Alcohol was just a means of manipulation for Hanette.
Hanette – “So, the conclusion I came to is… just die. There’s no need to worry if you’re dead.”
Sion – “What a great conclusion. Do you want to turn me into a widow?”
Hanette – “We’re only engaged, how can I turn you into a widow? Meet a lot of good women after I die. Hehehe…”
Sion – “So, you’re just going to leave me to die? Come to your senses. Let’s go back to the mansion.”
Sion tried to stand up, but Hanette grabbed his hand at the same time.
Hanette – “Hey. Let me ask you one thing.”
Sion – “One thing? If I answer you, will you follow me?”
Hanette – “Yes. Just answer me one thing.”
Hannet’s pupils were suddenly shining brightly.
Sion noticed that the atmosphere had changed and sat back down.
Hanette – “What are you going to do after you marry me?”
Sion – “Weren’t we done talking about that? We agreed not to interfere with each other.”
Hanette – “What about our successors?”
Sion – “Oh, that? Now it feels a bit more serious.”
Sion gave a faint smile as he read Hannet’s thoughts.
Even if she wanted to run away, she couldn’t help but hesitate.
The plan to escape was not guaranteed to succeed, and even if it did, it would cause significant harm to her family.
Therefore, she had to think it over and come up with a rational result.
Sion – “I’ll do whatever you want. I don’t mind.”
Hanette – “Does that mean you won’t look for a successor?”
Sion – “If there’s something that both partners have to do, they have to agree. It’s a forced marriage, but we have to abide by it.”
Hanette – “But you could force me to do it.”
Sion – “It’s easy to blame me as a bad guy… but can I really do that?”
Before obtaining the Demon Sword, Sion could never stand a chance against Hennete.
If Hennete set her mind to it, she could use magic to kill his opponent.
He didn’t want to provoke Hennete and risk his life.
Hanette – “Answer me honestly. I’m not in the mood for jokes.”
Sion – “You probably know better than me. I’m being used in this marriage. I’ll be the only one to suffer if I fight against you. We could argue from both sides as they nag, but it’s nothing that can’t be endured.”
Hanette – “… You can do that for me?”
Sion – “If it’s not working out, we could say that we tried our best. Or find another way.”
Hanette – “Heheh… What if it doesn’t work out?”
Sion – “Then it’s up to you to decide. You should keep your promise now.”
Sion got up from his seat and pointed towards the door.
Hennet stared at him for a while before eventually standing up.
Hanette – “Is that your answer?”
Sion – “Do you have any complaints if I do what you asked?”
Hanette – “Did you do what I asked?”
Sion – “I wasn’t joking earlier. Why don’t you try having faith in me?”
Hannet quietly followed Sion, feeling strangely sober.
Sion’s silver hair looked unusually dazzling today.
Hanette – “Then make me believe in you…”
Sion – “What did you say just now?”
Hanette – “If you didn’t hear me, never mind.”
Sion – “… You have a natural talent for driving people crazy.”
Hanette – “What did you say? I couldn’t hear you.”
Sion – “Forget it if you didn’t hear me.”
