Chapter 57 – 3 Months After.
[Chapter Size: 1900 Words.]
Third Person POV
Hogwarts.
...
...
The following weeks seemed ordinary as Snape attended his classes and no one else bothered him, while everyone was just watching him and as months began to pass, he started trying to create his own spells with knowledge of space, but it was still very difficult to keep increasing his strength, since his power had stagnated with the system.
He could no longer grow, and every day he still had the daily mission; setting that aside, he continued producing new potions and today in particular, a new friend of Professor Slughorn came to request another one of his bottles.
"Here you are, Professor." Snape handed over a new bottle to him.
"Very well, here is the money." The professor handed it over. This was the twelfth bottle sold in the last 3 months.
Snape was satisfied; he was starting to gain a rumor of a skilled potion-maker appearing in the English magical market, while no one knew his name, the great families involved with potions and with big names among potion-makers began to search for the mysterious potion man. Some bought his potions, since they were at least 10% more effective than what stores sold and tried to replicate them, but did not have much success, after all Snape had included some quite useful things to protect himself from people who would try to copy his formulas, he was not creating rare potions and it could even be said that they were of low and medium access for the wizarding community, but their quality began to shock.
He received the money from the professor while nodding, but Slughorn looked at him strangely. "You know, there's a report of a mysterious alchemist emerging according to the newspaper, The Daily Prophet...." He began while looking at Snape with suspicion.
Snape had not spoken about his potion sales on weekends when he left the school for Diagon Alley. After all, he wanted to keep his name hidden.
"I've seen it too, I heard some things from the Slytherin students." Snape spoke, but shrugged, not wanting to be related to that mysterious figure.
"..." Slughorn maintained his sharp gaze on Snape for one second before letting it go. "Well, I just found it intriguing... after all, I know all the potion-makers and to see one emerging with such great quality is curious..." He said.
Snape was also surprised when an article about him came out in The Daily Prophet, but they couldn't discover anything about him while he had two dozen thousand galleons, an amount almost as large as a small bankrupt wizarding family, this when he was just a student.
'Being an alchemist makes a lot of money, even the old Snape could live in a much better condition if he knew how to use his knowledge and skills efficiently to make money and not live like a poor man mentioned.' Snape couldn't help but think as he bid the professor farewell and headed out of the room.
"Snape." Snape looked towards the voice calling him as soon as he exited the corridor and saw Clarisse Greengrass approaching him. The girl had distanced herself from him in recent months, it seemed she liked to be discreet and being seen with him would only draw more eyes to her.
Lucinda was more confident and extroverted, as she continued to talk to him and walk by his side, even though his name had come out in the newspaper, though the girl seemed more concerned, after all when Snape first left Hogwarts, he knew that one of his family's stores had been attacked by Death Eaters, trying to find something that the Ministry of Magic could not identify.
Snape looked at the girl who hardly spoke to him anymore, not that he cared about that, after all the last thing he wanted was people on top of him while he was busy most of the day.
She saw that Snape did not respond and approached. "Snape... I would like some help from you if you wouldn't mind." As Snape raised an eyebrow.
"I'm quite busy here, so be quick." Snape spoke in his usual neutral tone.
"I wanted you to help me with a potion I am creating for the tests, with the herb we picked in the Forbidden Forest..." She said somewhat sheepishly.
"What's the problem? As I said, I have a few things to do, you can give me the notes, which I can take a quick look at." Snape spoke and Clarisse nodded a moment later, taking the notebook from her bag and handing it to Snape.
"I'm stuck on the potion's conclusion," she said, and Snape quickly glanced over all the notes she had written about her preparation process, something any self-respecting potion-maker should do. He read them in less than five seconds and pulled a quill from his pocket, beginning to write over her notes, correcting mistakes and providing a solution at the end.
"Here..." Snape said as he handed the sheet back to her, with her taking it in a dazed manner.
Snape started walking; after all, he had to go train at the secret location, not wasting any more time and leaving the girl behind as he headed to the clock room beneath the staircase.
He didn't even waste time going to Herbology class, as he could miss that lesson, heading to the secret training field that the house-elves had shown him, entering the place unseen and beginning his training for the next few hours. He was trying to develop his first spell, a space magic similar to Apparition, which would allow him to travel medium distances, like across the entire school, but it was undetectable to magical sensors and could easily escape detection; however, he had not yet managed to complete it and had spent the last few weeks intensively training it, with slow but progressive results.
He continued trying to teleport across that room, while his magic had a strange aspect; after all, when he teleported, he transformed into a breaking shadow and reappeared as a shadow with him emerging from it. He wanted to develop it even better than Apparition, having an instantaneous response time, which would be very useful in battles.
He continued this until he was drenched in sweat, deciding to eat something and calling an elf to attend to his needs. After that, he decided to return to his dormitory as it was time for him to go to sleep.
Snape passed by students from his house while noticing some looks he had become accustomed to in recent months, and there were a few more attempts to punish him out of revenge, but all failed, as he entered his room, but not before noticing a letter under his door.
He opened the letter and as it was not one of those talking ones, he began to read, 'Snape, I know we haven't spoken anymore, but I want to talk to you. You can meet me at the Whomping Willow after school, around 8 PM. I need to talk to you, it's important. I hope to see you there. Your old friend, Lily.' The letter was very straightforward and mysterious while Snape simply burned it in his own hand.
'Those kids finally decided to make a move?' Snape scoffed, knowing this was not a letter from Lily, but from Potter and his group.
"They think I don't know that Remus usually goes there accompanied by Doctor Penelope every month? After all, it's good for keeping Remus safe during his transformation without hurting anyone," Snape murmured and thought about whether he would go there tomorrow; if he did, things would not end well for the werewolf, but it would also be an opportunity to see the real strength of a werewolf. He even considered killing Remus to level up in the system, but that would be too low for him.
He returned to his cauldron while leaving Atlas in the kitchen, keeping only him and his new owl that had started to accompany him there in recent months, then spent the rest of the night in his room creating more potions to sell this weekend. He spent the morning training before getting ready to go to Diagon Alley, leaving the school via Floo Powder.
"Look... he's going out again..." Some student noticed Snape leaving without his house uniform while carrying a bag.
"Why can he go out of school every weekend while we can only go to Hogsmeade?" Another student murmured dissatisfied, it was no secret to anyone that Snape could simply have privileges that no other student had. Forbidden session, walking through the school at night, going out to London every weekend. This left most of the students dissatisfied, but what could they do, after all, even complaining about this to the headmaster, he managed to dodge and somehow convince that for Snape, this was fair compared to the whole school.
With no one able to do anything but watch, Snape disappeared in green flames and reappeared in Diagon Alley. As he walked through the streets, some cloaked individuals looked at him emerging from the travel spot, murmuring to each other.
"So it's him..." they whispered.
"Yes, our job is to follow him, as Miss Rosier instructed us," one of them said, since they were hired by the family to track Snape after discovering that he frequently visited Diagon Alley on weekends.
They followed him while keeping their eyes on him, but at one point, he vanished, leaving them confused as they tried to locate him again. They were careful not to be noticed, but for someone like Snape, who might have superhuman senses, it was easy to lose those guys.
He entered the black market a moment later and sold his potions, passing by the guard calmly after getting to know him.
"You're becoming famous... they're pressing me to reveal your name, but since I don't know it... you can feel safe about that," the man buying his potions said.
"..." Snape didn't respond as he continued to look at what he would take from the store.
"Silent and mysterious as always..." the man murmured.
Later, with more money and new rare ingredients, Snape had never created potions beyond those of medium difficulty, while he continued to save the best ingredients for more powerful potions in the future, when he tried to make something interesting, he had everything he needed or almost everything.
He returned to the school the same day, letting no one follow him; after all, he had nothing else to do. He went to dine in the kitchen and found a medium-sized Graphorn, sleeping in the middle of the floor with a swollen belly.
Atlas had grown considerably in the past months, tripling in size, and the house-elves continued to feed him everything they could. Snape shook his head while eating something, he had his meal and looked at Atlas, debating whether to take him or not, but decided to leave him there; his owl did not particularly like the animal occupying most of the room.
He headed to his dormitory, stored his things, and decided to go to the Whomping Willow when it was near 8 PM; it was time to see a real werewolf.
