Honkai Simulator: Start with Confessing to The Herrscher of Finality

Chapter 17: Volume 1, Chapter 17: Returning to Schicksal Headquarters

The following night after arriving at Saint Freya Academy, Ana awakened, her physical condition significantly better than what the infirmary doctor had anticipated.

At least upon waking, aside from feeling weak, she didn't exhibit any other health issues.

However, more concerning was her mental state rather than her physical well-being.

Theresa was the first to visit Ana, as the Three Knight families of Schicksal stood united, at least superficially. Being close friends with Cecilia and considering Ana her junior, despite not interacting much, they were not entirely unfamiliar with each other.

But at this moment, Theresa couldn't assume the role of a comforting senior towards her junior.

She understood this feeling all too well.

When the Second Herrscher was defeated, Theresa experienced a similar period herself, awakening in the hospital to learn about Cecilia's death.

In contrast, Xia Chen, standing outside the door, appeared somewhat cold and almost detached, bordering on insensitive.

"Miss Ana, headquarters has already relayed the message. Once you awaken, we must promptly return to report our mission status. Major Himeko is currently preparing the aircraft at the airfield."

"Can't you let Ana have some time to compose herself?" Theresa expressed her disapproval.

"My apologies." Xia Chen paused briefly before continuing, "Due to this incident, I haven't been able to maintain my regular training for two weeks now. I don't wish to waste any more time."

It wasn't that he was heartless.

Rather, through countless simulations, he had witnessed numerous tragedies involving sacrifices, becoming somewhat desensitized to them.

"I understand."

Taking a deep breath, Ana looked at Xia Chen and asked, "Have all the survivors' arrangements been made?"

"Yes."

Xia Chen recalled what Alvitr mentioned earlier, stating, "For all the survivors found in Manila, except for Chen Tianwu who left the group, everyone else has been settled. A total of 42 individuals agreed to join the Valkyrie Squad, while those unwilling were appropriately coordinated with the Philippine government."

He paused momentarily before adding, "Most of these individuals show B-level Valkyrie potential, except for Chen Tianwen, who exhibits A-level potential. As a result, she will be directly placed under headquarters for specialized training."

"That's good."

Feeling somewhat weary, Ana's eyes flickered with determination as if recalling something significant.

"Then let's depart."

Despite her weakened state, she attempted to stand up immediately.

"Oh no, why such a rush?" Theresa couldn't help but express her concern, saying, "Your body needs more rest. I'll call Grandpa and arrange for you to stay longer before returning."

"No need, Ana already feels guilty enough. It's not necessary to trouble Lord Bishop with this matter."

Her face appeared somewhat pale as she looked at Xia Chen, "I must have caused you quite some trouble during this time; thank you."

"It wasn't much of a burden, actually. If anything, I've gained weight here."

Despite Theresa's reluctance, due to Ana's insistence, she agreed to let them return.

Xia Chen carried Ana's Valkyrie armor and weapons, while Theresa personally escorted them to the airfield.

Just then, they heard a distant voice:

"Auntie!"

Kiana rushed over energetically.

Before Theresa could react, Kiana turned to Xia Chen and asked, "Are you leaving? When will you be back next?"

"I'm not sure, why do you ask?"

"This young lady hasn't defeated you yet."

Kiana paused and declared, "I'm here to challenge you! Next time we meet, I'll definitely defeat you."

Ever since Xia Chen inadvertently showcased the Kaslana Gunmanship technique, Kiana had been highly motivated.

Feeling somewhat awkward, Theresa interjected, "Alright, Kiana, we still have matters to attend to."

Xia Chen smiled and responded, "Sure." He paused before adding, "Let's hope for another chance to meet again soon."

Despite their friendly exchange, it was likely that their next encounter would find them on opposing sides.

Satisfied, Kiana left with contentment.

On the side, Ana, feeling puzzled, asked Theresa, "Is she from the Kaslana family? I've never seen her before."

Theresa quickly laughed it off.

Currently, Siegfried was wanted by Schicksal. If Ana discovered his daughter was at Saint Freya, things could become even more complicated. She explained, "She's from a branch of the Kaslana family, quite talented. I decided to mentor her personally."

"Oh."

Ana didn't give it much thought.

However, Theresa belatedly realized that Xia Chen seemed unsurprised by Kiana's identity. Considering his focus on training and being relatively new to the Immortal Blades, not knowing about Siegfried could be understandable...right?

Theresa felt slightly unsettled.

Neither Xia Chen nor Ana noticed her unease, even as they were escorted to the airfield. Despite this, Theresa couldn't bring herself to voice her concerns.

"Theresa, you should head back; I'll take care of them."

Himeko, already waiting there as the pilot, reassured her.

For this trip, instead of using the Hyperion, they would travel on a regular aircraft. While anyone could have been assigned for the journey, Himeko insisted on personally escorting them to ensure no mishaps occurred along the way. She even abstained from drinking for a whole day for this purpose.

With her doubts still lingering, Theresa reluctantly departed.

Seven hours later, they arrived safely at Schicksal Headquarters.

After bidding farewell to Himeko, Xia Chen and Ana parted ways.

Amber had informed him earlier that upon his return, he could directly report to the Immortal Blades without needing a formal debriefing.

After handing over the Valkyrie Armor to Ana, Xia Chen headed towards the Immortal Blades' quarters.

Upon arrival, he sensed something was amiss.

The team members of the Immortal Blades focused their gazes on him, and Durandal stood directly in front.

"Captain?"

Feeling puzzled, he said, "I'm back."

"Hmm, let's spar then," Durandal replied calmly. "I want to see if you've regressed during these two weeks."

Xia Chen remained silent...

He couldn't even last a minute.

However, Durandal didn't criticize him but simply stated, "You've done well this time. Your basic training hasn't suffered either. Keep it up."

"Now go rest and adjust your condition. Training continues tomorrow."

Durandal made no mention of his trip to Manila.

She neither encouraged nor criticized Xia Chen's actions. Durandal understood that imposing her own views onto others was not appropriate; as long as Xia Chen did not regress, he met her standards.

"Yes, Captain."

Xia Chen sighed in relief.

The Honkai incident in Manila had concluded.

However, there was one issue he needed to address urgently.

Meanwhile, Scarlet Sakura suddenly appeared again, indicating her hunger within the System's provided space.

Xia Chen had only a few Honkai Fragments left.

"I need to find more ways to obtain Honkai Energy."

Feeling somewhat troubled, Xia Chen pondered his options.
