Chapter 9 - It's Seems I'm Not Normal
Walking along the stone-paved road, Mahiro Toma entered the abandoned factory.
As soon as he stepped inside, Mahiro felt the chill intensify compared to the outside.
"Looks like this is the place."
Mahiro sneered, finding his skill Intuition exceptionally useful. Originally a combat skill, it was also effective for locating individuals.
At the very least, it confirmed there was something unusual in this abandoned factory.
Whether it was a low-class devil was uncertain.
Moreover, Mahiro was confident he had been targeted since entering this place, and that feeling confirmed it.
"Are you going to keep hiding from your guest?"
Mahiro stood at the entrance, glancing around the empty factory and shouted.
The entire factory had long been abandoned, leaving only an empty shell and some useless debris.
Mahiro's voice echoed, ensuring the entire factory could hear it.
After the echo faded, the surroundings remained silent, with no response.
"Then I'll find you myself."
Mahiro scanned his surroundings, becoming more vigilant.
The stray devil hiding in the factory was clever.
Mahiro wondered if he had been too forceful.
If he acted like a lost, innocent little boy, maybe the devil would relax its guard and reveal itself.
Mahiro slowly stepped into the interior of the abandoned factory, his gaze like a radar, taking in the surroundings.
The factory was small, and checking every corner wouldn't take long.
If a stray devil was hidden there, he could find it with patience.
Suddenly, Mahiro's heart trembled, and he reflexively stepped back.
"Whoosh--!"
At the same time, the sound of something slicing through the air echoed.
A white shadow fell from the ceiling like a spear aimed at Mahiro.
Boom--!
A muffled sound resounded in the quiet workshop. Where Mahiro had stood, a white cloth-like object pierced the ground.
"That was close."
Mahiro sighed with relief.
Following the direction of the object, Mahiro saw the attacker's appearance and couldn't help but feel a sudden shock.
The long, ghostly hair, bare upper body, eight legs clinging to the ceiling like a spider, and eight wide, frightening eyes.
The grinning mouth stretching to the ears made it even more hideous.
"If I hadn't been mentally prepared, I'd have been scared to death."
It was like a scene from a Japanese horror movie. An ordinary person might have had a heart attack.
"Ahh! What a fragrant human, a hundred times more fragrant than any I've eaten."
The stray devil let out a harsh laugh, its eight eyes rolling, staring at Mahiro as if he were a delicious prey.
"I didn't expect such a wonderful gift to arrive before I left the city. I'm so excited."
The spider devil sputtered words, its eyes fixed on Mahiro, drooling at the sight of him.
"You'll definitely give me a full meal!"
The spider devil stared at Mahiro as if he were a roast lamb, saliva dripping from its mouth.
"Looks like I'm lucky. If I were a step later, I'd have missed you."
Mahiro stared at the spider devil. It seemed it was planning to leave Kuoh Town.
"You're a daring human, like a swordsman among your kind. No wonder you smell so delicious. I can't wait to eat you."
The spider devil smiled, "It will take some time, but before the Gremorys find this place, I can eat you quickly."
"Gremory? Looks like you're afraid of them."
Mahiro sneered.
"Damn Gremory! If it weren't for them, why would I be running? I just ate a few humans, and they hunted me down. I had to hide."
Resentment flashed in the spider devil's eyes, clearly hating the Gremory clan.
"A stray dog forced to run away. But calling you a dog is insulting to dogs. They're cute, but you're so ugly."
Mahiro sneered, gripping his sword tightly, ready to strike.
"Damn human, how dare you mock me!"
The spider devil was furious. As a devil, being mocked by a human was unbearable.
Being pushed into hiding by the Gremory clan was terrible enough. Now, Mahiro's insult made it furious.
"I wanted to swallow you whole, but now I've changed my mind. I'll tear you apart bit by bit and eat you."
The spider devil spat bloody words, saliva dripping from its mouth, looking hideous.
Its feet clinging to the ceiling suddenly pushed off, and it swooped down, arms spread as if to embrace Mahiro.
"Mystic Eye of Death Perception."
Mahiro called out softly. His black and white eyes were replaced by an ice-blue brilliance.
The world's picture changed, revealing mottled and terrifying lines of death.
Looking at the swooping spider devil, Mahiro remained unmoved. When the spider devil was about to reach him, he raised his sword.
Slash!
A clear sword light flickered in the dim factory, sharp and dazzling, slashing the spider devil precisely.
After the first slash, the sword moved like a light net, slashing at the stray devil's body.
With Mahiro's swing, his figure also moved, brushing past the spider devil.
Boom--!
"Do you think learning some swordsmanship can harm me? I'm a devil! Fancy attacks are useless to me. Be obedient..."
The spider devil sneered at Mahiro, but halfway through, it felt its vision spinning.
Puff--!
Blood spurted from the spider devil's body, and terrifying cracks appeared.
Even more terrifying, the spider devil's head fell off, rolling on the ground before stopping.
"That's... my body... why is it in front?"
The spider devil's mouth opened and closed. Out of the corner of its eye, it saw its familiar body.
Its eyes were full of disbelief.
A tall devil's body stood beside it, eight spider legs supporting it, standing still and terrifying.
But why did that strong body have no head?
What was it now?
"How? Do you think it's ugly?"
Mahiro said casually.
"No... but... how could you... I'm a devil!"
The spider devil's head fell, its mouth still forming words with an unbelievable tone.
"Such tenacity, even with its head off, it maintains a trace of thought."
Mahiro kicked the devil's head, turning his eyes to its broken body, letting it see its body more clearly.
"You won't see me torn apart, only your own body shattered."
"This scene only happens once in your life. Don't take your eyes off it."
As he finished, apparent cracks appeared in the tall spider devil's body. Blood spurted out, and it collapsed, shattered into pieces.
The spider devil made guttural sounds, unable to form words. Its eight eyes kept turning until they finally stopped, and there was no sound.
Seeing the spider devil completely silent, Mahiro withdrew from his fighting state, his tense nerves slowly relaxing.
Looking at the stray devil, Mahiro felt a little helpless. Despite the bloody scene, he felt no discomfort.
He sighed, realizing he was also a freak. This would make normal people scream, but he thought it was ordinary.
Probably because, after learning he was in a world of mythical creatures, he had adapted in advance.
Mahiro could only comfort himself this way.
"The cleanup is a hassle."
Putting aside dull thoughts, Mahiro looked at the minced meat on the ground and decided to leave it alone.
