Chapter 10 – It Was A Right Choice!
Chapter 10 - It Was A Right Choice!
"Ding! Congratulations to the host for defeating a Low-Class Devil and earning 100 points."
"The current quest is one-third completed. Please make persistent efforts to complete the quest as soon as possible."
When the spider devil was completely vanquished, a cold reminder echoed in Mahiro Toma's mind.
"Ah!"
Mahiro breathed a sigh of relief and returned his sword to the system space. His tense nerves slowly relaxed, and the icy-blue in his eyes began to dissipate, restoring their natural black and white color.
"Choosing to kill the Low-Class Devil was the right decision."
Even though he used the Mystic Eye of Death Perception to instantly kill the spider devil, Mahiro had to utilize all his trump cards to do so.
It wasn't easy.
After all, this was a life-and-death battle.
If he had chosen to compete with the devils at Kuoh Academy, he wouldn't have won so quickly.
Sparring and life-and-death battles are different.
Without using the Mystic Eye of Death Perception, it wouldn't have been so easy to win.
Moreover, compared to the stray devils with erratic behavior, normal Low-Class Devils are often trained, and their combat skills are likely much stronger than Mahiro's, making them even more challenging to deal with.
Without the Mystic Eye of Death Perception, Mahiro's current strength wouldn't be sufficient to handle those devils.
And if he used the Mystic Eye of Death Perception, Mahiro feared accidentally cutting into the wrong place, causing unforeseen problems and trouble.
Glancing at the spider devil, now reduced to pieces, Mahiro quickly left the dilapidated factory without any hesitation.
"It's still early. I'll find a place to recover my strength, then continue to look for the next target."
After leaving, Mahiro glanced at the time. It had only been ten minutes since he entered the factory and killed the spider devil, and he still had the entire night ahead.
Finding a place to sit on the grass, Mahiro took out his mobile phone and began looking through it.
Regarding the locations where stray devils were known to haunt, Mahiro had marked three spots, and the factory was one of them.
It can only be said that Mahiro had good luck. He found the devil on his first try and killed it without any hindrance, saving a lot of time.
"System, help me search for the trail of the next lower-class stray devil."
With enough points, Mahiro no longer searched blindly. He could consult the system for such trivial matters.
Anyway, these points weren't enough to exchange for other valuable items. It was better to complete the quest quickly and earn the rewards.
"Will you spend 100 points to search for the trail of the lower-level stray devil?"
"Yes."
Mahiro chose the OK option without hesitation, and the system quickly provided an answer.
"Northwest, in a grove four kilometers away? It's not too far. System, if I rush over now, will it have moved?"
"No, that's a temporary residence for the stray devil, and it will stay there for a while, enough for the host to get there."
"That's good."
After getting an affirmative answer, Mahiro finished resting and headed to the next location in a hurry.
...
Kuoh Academy, Occult Research Club.
Inside a dimly lit room, the members of the Occult Research Club were all present.
Rias Gremory was seated at the president's desk, Koneko Toujou was sitting on the sofa, Akeno Himejima was standing beside Rias like a maid, and Yuuto Kiba stood upright like a knight.
"Recently, I've been busy selecting suitable candidates from among the students to be my new family members. I didn't expect to neglect the jurisdiction over the territory."
Rias had a worried look on her face.
"President, have you encountered any problems?"
Koneko Toujou raised her eyes, her golden pupils looking at Rias with concern.
Rias rubbed her forehead with a headache, holding a document in her right hand. "It's not a problem. It's just that there have been too many signs of stray devil activities in Kuoh Town recently, and the Underworld has already issued a warning. If the problem cannot be solved within the stipulated time, they will send someone to handle it for me."
"It looks like a troublesome situation."
Akeno leaned over, glanced at the document in Rias's hand, and her smiling face took on a hint of seriousness.
"It's not too troublesome; it's just my responsibility. After all, those stray devils are just a bunch of clowns. If we hadn't been distracted recently, they wouldn't have had the chance to cause trouble in my territory. I'll get rid of them later."
Rias handed the document in her hand to Akeno, who looked at it with interest.
"It seems that many mice have sneaked into Kuoh Town during the busy time when the school year started."
Akeno looked over and said so.
The document in Rias's hand recorded some specific information about the stray devils in Kuoh Town.
"These stray devils are not stupid. They think I'm an underage High-Class Devil. Compared to other High-Class Devils, they must think it's relatively safe in this world. Unfortunately, they chose the wrong target."
The corners of Rias's mouth curled into a confident and stern smile, making the three people around her feel her confidence.
"I will make them understand that the majesty of the Gremory clan cannot be provoked, and as the heir of the Gremory clan, I am definitely not to be taken lightly!"
"The president's killing intent is very strong today."
Koneko Toujou remarked.
"Ara Ara, I can feel that those little mice are going to be unlucky tonight. Perhaps they will get to see the red-haired president's deadly grace."
Akeno put down the document, covered her mouth, and chuckled, full of confidence in Rias, and joked casually.
"President, when are we leaving?"
Yuuto Kiba was very straightforward, his weapon already attached to his waist, ready to fight at any time.
"Let's go now. It's already night, and it's time for those stray devils to come out. I don't want any more trouble in my territory."
Rias stood up from her seat, and the other three followed her to the center of the room.
"Everyone, there are quite a few tasks tonight, and it's going to be hard for all of you."
Rias smiled, and then in the center of the room, a burst of red light suddenly lit up, and a huge magic circle slowly appeared.
Koneko Toujou clenched her fist vigorously.
Yuuto Kiba put his hand on the hilt of the sword at his waist.
Meanwhile, Akeno stood up straight like a lady, seemingly unconcerned, and still had a smile on her face.
"Okay, everyone, let's go."
With that said, everyone stepped into the magic circle.
