Chapter 160: Michael Should Be A Decent Guy!?
Chapter 160 - Michael Should Be A Decent Guy!?
Back at the door of the church, the body of Valper Galilei lay on the ground, his blood still flowing, and the body hadn't completely lost its warmth.
Mahiro let Yuuto search Valper for a moment.
"Is this it?"
Soon, Kiba pulled out a blue, teardrop-shaped crystal from Valper's pocket.
"This should be it," Mahiro said as he glanced at the crystal. It resembled the crystal of light property he remembered.
"May I see it?" Xenovia asked.
Kiba handed the crystal to Xenovia.
"It's similar to what Irina received before. It should be the crystal of light property," Xenovia said after inspecting the crystal closely and then handing it back to Kiba.
"What's the use of this?" Rias asked.
The Holy Sword Project was a Church initiative and had nothing to do with Devils, but since Mahiro had found it, there had to be a specific reason for its importance.
"This crystal might allow Kiba's Sacred Gear to reach the balance breaker level," Mahiro said directly.
"Balance breaker?"
"Can Yuuto really achieve balance breaker?" Rias asked, surprised.
Balance breaker—the ultimate power of Sacred Gear—was incredibly difficult to reach.
"It's possible, but there's no guarantee of success," Mahiro smiled. "Whether he can unlock balance breaker depends on Kiba himself."
In the anime, Yuuto used the crystal of light property to learn the balance breaker and create the Holy Demonic Sword, a fusion of his demonic sword and holy sword abilities.
"But can a Devil even use something like this? I've never seen it used before, and I don't know what would happen if Kiba uses the crystal."
"Wouldn't a Devil be burned alive by the light attribute?" Xenovia asked seriously.
Xenovia, being a natural Holy Sword wielder, didn't need to use the crystal like Irina did to enhance her compatibility with holy swords.
"Should we wait for Irina to wake up and ask her how she feels?" Xenovia suggested.
"The God of bible has been dead for centuries. The boundaries between divine and demonic have blurred over time, and since Kiba was part of the Holy Sword Project, he should be well-suited for something like this," Mahiro replied.
Mahiro turned to look at Kiba.
Kiba held the crystal of light property in both hands, staring at it with sadness in his eyes.
The crystal was extracted from the people who had once been part of the Holy Sword Project—his companions.
It could be considered the only relic of Kiba's lost friends.
SLAP!
Mahiro slapped Kiba hard.
"Mahiro-san?" Kiba looked up in confusion, unsure why Mahiro had hit him.
"I know what you're thinking, but for people like us, death is not the end. You should know that," Mahiro said.
"Huh?" Kiba was still confused, not quite understanding what Mahiro meant.
"The lives of your companions have ended, yes, but their souls might still be intact," Mahiro explained.
"They died because of the Holy Sword Project, which was the fault of the Church—or Heaven."
"Angels are known for their kindness and compassion. So, your companion's souls could be preserved, or they might have been reincarnated into new, happy lives."
Kiba's expression began to lighten, the hope slowly returning to his eyes.
"Oh, by the way, I also got some intel from Kokabiel," Mahiro added, finding Kokabiel a convenient scapegoat.
If any more secrets came up later, he could just result them to Kokabiel.
"What?" Rias and the others were immediately curious.
"I mentioned before that there would be a peace conference between the three factions. I got confirmation from Kokabiel," Mahiro said with a grin.
"So, It's true!" Akeno gasped, covering her mouth in surprise.
"No wonder," Sona added thoughtfully. "It's because of the upcoming peace talks that Kokabiel became so restless."
"If the peace talks succeed, Kokabiel would never get the chance to start another war. That's why he tried to trigger one at all costs."
Though Sona understood Kokabiel's motives, Mahiro wasn't worried about Sona exposing his little story—after all, he had just beaten Kokabiel, so there were plenty of gaps in the narrative he could fill in.
"Kiba, those companions you lost might still be out there somewhere," Mahiro said.
"What?" Kiba looked at Mahiro suddenly, hope and longing filling his eyes. He was eager for a more detailed explanation.
By this point, Kiba had developed great trust in Mahiro after everything they had been through.
"Michael should be a decent guy, right?" Mahiro turned and asked Xenovia.
"Decent guy?" Xenovia replied with a puzzled expression. It was a strange way to describe Michael. "As the Archangel of Heaven, Lord Michael is indeed merciful. In the Church, aside from Lord, he is the most revered figure."
"I see," Mahiro nodded. "After the peace talks, Devils might get the chance to visit Heaven. You can ask Michael about the souls of your companions then."
"Is that even possible? A Devil in Heaven?" Kiba asked, bewildered.
"Once the three factions are at peace, it'll be like a buffer period. Visiting Heaven would be a trivial matter," Mahiro said.
"And if something did happen to your companions souls, you could go straight to Michael and cry about it."
"Good guys like him would handle it, especially since it's Heaven's fault. I'm sure Michael would give you justice."
Kiba was a little skeptical.
'A Devil going to cry in front of Micheal.'
It was such a bizarre thought, he could barely imagine it.
"Well, Lord Mahiro's method might actually work," Xenovia said after considering it for a moment.
