Harry Potter: Becoming a Study God

Chapter 144: Chapter 144: Capturing Wormtail Part 1

Wade usually doesn't pay special attention to the names above people's heads, as it gives him a sense of disconnection, as if he's in a game world.

Because of this, he's gotten used to treating names as just part of their hair and ignoring them.

However, at this moment, he still took a look at the name above the girl's head.

[Luna Lovegood].

It really is her.

This girl didn't look quite like the ethereally beautiful character in the movie. Her appearance wasn't particularly striking, but her unique aura was very noticeable.

Luna, who was wrapped in a blanket, sat up in a daze and looked at Wade without saying a word.

Wade walked over and asked, "You're a first-year student, right? Why aren't you sleeping in the dorm at this late hour?"

The blonde girl looked at Wade with her slightly bulging eyes, not blinking for a while, giving off a very odd feeling.

After a moment, she slowly said, "I lost my book. I came to look for it but couldn't find it... and the dorm door is locked."

"Did you knock? Or did your roommates not let you in?" Wade asked with a frown.

"What does it matter?"

Luna lay back down and pulled the blanket up just under her eyes. She said in a very Buddhist way: "The door will open in the morning anyway."

With her so calm, if Wade were to get involved, it would seem like he was meddling in other people's business.

He asked again, "What's your name, and which book did you lose?"

The little girl looked at him through the darkness and asked, "Are you going to help me look for it?"

"If it's not too much trouble."

She thought for a moment before saying, "My name is Luna Lovegood. Some people call me Loony. I can't find my History of Magic."

Wade waved his wand and said clearly, "Accio Luna's History of Magic book!" (Summoning Charm)

Suddenly, a book flew out from the gap in the sofa and landed right in Wade's hand. He placed it beside the little girl.

"Wow—"

Luna let out a soft gasp of surprise and, after a few seconds of silence, as if she had just remembered, said, "Thank you."

"If you ever need help, you can come to me... I'm Wade Grey, a second-year student."

With that, Wade picked up his bag and headed back to the dormitory.

Even though Luna was sleeping alone in the common room that night, Wade wasn't worried about her safety.

The house-elves who cleaned the castle typically worked in the common room at night, and the portraits on the walls and the ghosts floating around were hardly just decorations.

The next morning, when Wade got up, Luna was already gone from the sofa.

The heavy rain had poured down all night and hadn't let up by morning. Raindrops pattered against the windows with streams of water running down the glass.

The game field was flooded a foot deep, and even the animals Hagrid cared for were huddled in their sheds.

Since the students couldn't play the Battle Royal game outside, many were crowded by the windows and were gazing at the sky longingly, hoping the rain would stop soon.

But the rain continued for several days in a row.

"I wish I knew a weather charm," Michael, an avid gamer, said in frustration. "Then I could stop the rain whenever I wanted."

When the weekend finally came, they were still stuck in the castle because of the rain—a tough blow for the game-obsessed young wizards.

While Michael was still making wishes, Harry and Hermione had already gone to the library to look up books on weather charms.

During these days, Wade's Veritaserum potion was finally ready.

The clear, transparent liquid sat in a crystal vial and it looked just like water.

He took out the Marauder's Map and checked Peter Pettigrew's location once again.

As usual, the rat was in Ron's dormitory.

Sometimes, he'd venture out for a stroll, wandering through different parts of the castle. The first time Wade couldn't spot him on the map, he worried for a moment, thinking Peter might be up to something serious.

He later realized that Peter was merely bored of being cooped up in the dormitory and wanted to roam around outside.

Even as a rat, Peter always avoided crowds, and also dodged students' pet cats and owls, and sneaked around during his little walks.

Recently, with Ron going off to play the Battle Royal game, Peter had been sticking close to him. It was rumored that once, he'd even scratched one of Ron's opponents to help him out.

At dinner, Ron boasted proudly at the long table about his rat, calling it a "hero".

Wade had once considered trying to trade Ron something valuable, like a new wand or Galleons, in exchange for the rat. However, after weighing his options, he gave up on the idea.

Ron's current wand wasn't broken; though the unicorn hair was showing, it still worked reasonably well. Ron certainly lacked money, but that didn't mean he'd be willing to sell his pet rat.

He was someone with many flaws but also deeply loyal and sentimental. Perhaps he considered the rat as part of his family and wouldn't let it go easily.

Trying to trade might only alert Peter Pettigrew, putting him on guard. If that guy escaped the school and hid in a Muggle city or remote area, Wade wouldn't know how to track him down.

Capturing Peter Pettigrew had to be foolproof.

Possibly due to the rain, students had been cooped up in dorms and common rooms, and Peter Pettigrew hadn't snuck out in days.

Wade put away the map and Veritaserum, took out his Book of Friends, and sent messages to several people, coordinating the next steps before finally leaving the Room of Requirement.

The corridor was empty. He made his way down to the fifth floor, where he found the Weasley twins, whom he'd arranged to meet earlier.

Seeing him approach, the twins immediately covered their ears with both hands and shouted, "Look, Wade!"

They covered their ears for a moment, then released them, sending a huge puff of white smoke floating up toward the ceiling.

George added a creative touch, making uneven smoke rings, which floated up like bubbles in water.

Even with the rain, the Gryffindor Quidditch team hadn't stopped training.

To avoid catching colds, they drank a small amount of Pepperup Potion after each session, though the side effect was that smoke would puff out of their ears for a while afterward.

Harry was embarrassed by it, especially after Colin Creevey snapped some photos where he looked like a steaming locomotive. But the twins were thoroughly enjoying it, and even developed new smoke-ring tricks.

"Look, we can do this too!"

Fred covered his ears again, then released a big cloud of smoke and blew into it, turning it into a hollow ring.

George waved his wand and created a bubble around the smoke ring, balancing it on top of his head. "Do I look like a crowned Pope?"

"Yes, exactly—ha ha ha…" Fred doubled over in laughter.

Wade couldn't help but smile, infected by their cheerful energy.

After a bit of fun, Wade asked, "Fred, George, have you two checked Ron's dorm on the Marauder's Map?"
