Chapter 310: Chapter 310: The Snowy Mountain [Bonus Chapter]
"It's true, of course!"
Mona, a bit uneasy under such a direct gaze, turned her face gently to the side, looking away.
The rented apartment was small, with a living room previously used by a former tenant mage as a laboratory. There was a single bedroom and a small kitchen-bathroom combo room.
"That's perfect! I've been wanting to know its location, so I can visit in the future. Please, come study my little paradise anytime!" Nolan clasped his hands together, pleading.
"I get it, no need to be so formal. Studying an otherworldly sky like yours will really help improve my astrology skills. Even if you hadn't invited me, I would've done it anyway!" Mona brushed her hair aside, a bit embarrassed.
---
Later that evening, Nolan and Mona left her apartment. Mona hadn't been in Mondstadt long and hadn't met many people yet, so Nolan thought it might be nice to introduce her to Fischl, helping ease her loneliness.
When they arrived at his home on Val Berry Street, Fischl had already returned from work and was about to take a bath.
To her surprise, Fischl didn't mind that Nolan had befriended another girl; she wasn't the type to get bothered by such things. In fact, little Amy, used to solitude, was quite pleased to have another friend around.
Mona also took an immediate liking to Fischl. They hit it off quickly, and Mona found it surprisingly easy to follow the eccentric flow of this "Chuunibyou" girl's thoughts. Even without Oz's translations, she managed to understand Fischl's peculiar phrases effortlessly—a testament to her keen intellect as an astrologer.
After dinner, Mona didn't head home right away. Scholars, as a rule, tend to lose themselves in their research, and Mona was no exception. After a short break, she asked Nolan to open the door to his "Wonderland" so she could study within it.
Nolan was more than happy to oblige.
Curious about this "Wonderland," Fischl joined them and, upon discovering its beautifully mysterious starry skies, shamelessly declared that she had claimed the "Wonderland" as her own.
Thus, the magnificent Prinzessin der Verurteilung became the new ruler of this realm!
Nolan could only verbally concede, waiting until Fischl's guard was down to tackle her, slip back through the "door," and return to the real world, leaving her thoroughly surprised.
Back in reality, he carried her to bed and gave her a proper lesson on the consequences of invading someone else's territory without permission.
In their exhaustion, the two eventually drifted off to sleep, entirely forgetting that Mona was still inside the "wonderland."
Poor Mona had no choice but to make do, spending another night there. Yet she found herself growing fond of sleeping beneath the vast, starry sky; the temperature and humidity were perfectly comfortable, and she slept peacefully, though a hint of loneliness lingered.
"Maybe I'll ask Fischl to join me tomorrow," Mona thought, as she too drifted off to sleep.
---
The next morning, with no missions scheduled, Fischl decided to show Mona around Mondstadt.
Mona wasn't interested in going out; she only wanted to continue studying the stars in the "wonderland." But the Prinzessin der Verurteilung had other plans and dragged her outside.
After breakfast, Nolan headed to the Knights of Favonius headquarters. He had promised Captain Jean that he'd help her with a task, though he hadn't yet been told what it was.
With a bit of curiosity, he opened the door to Jean's office. To his surprise, in addition to Jean, two familiar faces were there as well.
One of them had short, ice-blue hair that framed her neck and a tall, shapely figure—Eula. She had been dealing with remaining monster threats in Wolvendom and appeared to have completed the job successfully. Beside her stood a cheerful young girl with brown hair tied in a rabbit-eared bow: the lively Amber!
Amber was usually on patrol outside Mondstadt, and Eula led monster-clearing missions outside the city, so Nolan hadn't seen them in a while.
His entrance caught both Eula and Amber's attention.
"Hey, Nolan! You finally made it! Just a minute ago, Captain Jean was wondering why you hadn't arrived yet," Amber greeted him with a wave and a bright smile.
"Haha, good morning, Amber, Eula. I was a bit delayed making breakfast, so I got here a little late," he replied with a grin.
Closing the door, he walked over to join Eula and Amber.
"It's been a while. You seem much stronger than before. So, what do you say? Want to spar at the training grounds later?" Eula asked, her gaze appraising the changes in Nolan with some surprise.
Months ago, she could easily handle his full-force attacks single-handedly. Now, he didn't seem much weaker than she was—a shocking rate of growth.
"Sounds good, but let's hear what Captain Jean needs us for first," Nolan replied with a smile.
Eula, at level 76, was among the top fighters in Mondstadt. Still, he was confident he wouldn't have trouble defeating her now.
"You— I get the feeling you're thinking rather highly of yourself," Eula huffed, crossing her arms and lifting her chin in mild annoyance.
"Haha, Master Eula, even I'm surprised by how fast I've grown lately. Honestly, you wouldn't stand a chance against me now!" he joked.
"Hmph!" Eula scoffed, clearly unconvinced.
"All right, you two. No need to start bickering the moment you meet. Let's get to the task I need all three of you to handle," Jean said with a sigh, casting them a tolerant glance.
"Yes, Captain, please go ahead," Amber nodded.
Nolan and Eula also put on serious expressions, ready to listen. Since it required all three of them, it probably wasn't a simple mission.
"Here's the situation: Recently, an adventurer reported encountering some dangerous elemental creatures while exploring Dragonspine. I'd like you three to investigate," Captain Jean explained.
"Dragonspine?" Nolan raised an eyebrow. Was Dragonspine open to adventurers this time of year already?
