Fairy Tale: With Sin Of Pride

Chapter 122: Chapter 106: The Arrival of the Dwarf God

"That's a fine weapon. Guess it's mine now," Rhodes remarked, holding the forging hammer that had lost all its brilliance.

As he examined the intricate magic inscriptions etched into the hammer, his curiosity about the dwarves' forging techniques grew. While the power imbued in the magic inscriptions wasn't particularly impressive, their method of fusing magic with forging sparked his interest.

"If I can refine a process to embed magic circles, powers, and laws into crafted items, I could create artifacts far beyond what this world considers divine tools," he mused. His thoughts wandered to the Artifact Star, where numerous god-level forbidden spells were recorded. Integrating even one of those spells into a crafted item would undoubtedly elevate it to artifact status.

Suddenly, the hammer in his grip shuddered violently. A spectral beast wreathed in flames emerged, roaring and writhing as it resisted his control.

Unlike ordinary magic tools, dwarves infused their weapons with the souls of powerful beasts, imbuing them with a semblance of life. These souls, akin to weapon spirits, would only recognize their original master. The hammer's spirit had already pledged loyalty to the demigod dwarf who forged it, and it was now rejecting Rhodes with all its might.

Rhodes chuckled softly, his smile gentle but laced with menace. "Submit... or be destroyed."

Black flames, radiant with destructive intent, began to envelop his hand. The God-Destroying Fire, a flame that could suppress all fire-based powers, seared into the hammer's spirit. The spirit, a fire-based entity, wailed in agony as it was overpowered.

The dwarf demigod, Mikron, who had been watching in silence, clenched his fists as his expression darkened. Dwarves prided themselves on their crafting, and to see one of their prized creations subdued so easily stung his pride.

"Human, I'll give you one chance. Leave now, and I'll overlook this transgression," Mikron declared, his voice low and steady. Although he was a demigod, the dwarves' focus on crafting often left them lacking in combat prowess compared to other races. Still, bowing to a human grated against his dignity.

Rhodes tilted his head, a mocking smile curling his lips. "And you think you're in a position to dictate terms?"

With his dragon form and the suppression of the God-Destroying Fire, even a flame-type god would struggle against him. A mere demigod? Laughable.

"I'll give you two choices," Rhodes continued, his tone cold. "First, take all your people and surrender to me. Second, leave this place and never set foot here again. From now on, this is human territory."

Mikron's breathing quickened, anger flaring in his chest. "The City of Mountain Fire is our home! The dwarves will never abandon it, nor will we bow to any race!"

"Then die." Rhodes's voice was ice-cold as the God-Destroying Fire surged forward.

The flames engulfed Mikron, swallowing his fire magic with ease. As the fire consumed him, Mikron's struggles grew weaker, his defiance fading under the relentless assault.

Sympathy was a luxury Rhodes could not afford. In this world, the strong ruled, and the weak perished. If the dwarves would not submit, then they were enemies. And enemies had no place in his vision for humanity's future.

Just as Rhodes was about to deliver the final blow, a surge of divine power erupted from Mikron's body. A radiant beam of light descended from the heavens, and the haunting echoes of countless prayers filled the air.

The light merged into Mikron, mending his scorched body and amplifying the divine energy surrounding him. When the light dissipated, Mikron's golden eyes burned with an intense flame.

The heat radiating from him caused the temperature in the entire city to rise dramatically.

"Why does a mortal stand when faced with a god?" Mikron's voice was soft but carried the weight of divinity, each word resonating like thunder.

Rhodes smirked, unperturbed by the overwhelming presence before him. "The gods I've slain had the same attitude before they died."

Mikron's gaze sharpened. "Ignorant human! Do you think you can deceive me? A mortal who has slain a god would carry the taint of divine essence, yet I sense none from you. Your lies are pathetic."

Rhodes's smile widened, his confidence unwavering. "Believe what you will. The outcome will be the same—you'll either kneel or fall."
