DxD: The Tale of Blood

Chapter 2: Prologue 2.0

The rage of the Devils shook the Heavens, and bodies fell every day for thousands of years to come.

Eventually, a lot of other races were pulled into the war, and some just took the opportunity to have some fun and gain some benefits.

The third faction that joined the war was that of the Fallen, who wanted to reclaim their old home, which brought them in direct conflict with the Angels, and later with the Devils as well.

Wars broke out in other Dimensions in the coming few years, and that period was filled with utter chaos in the Universe.

Eventually, the day came when the Four Satans of Devildom, along with their most trusted and powerful forces, went head-to-head with the Biblical God.

The Angels had been forbidden from participating in the battle, having suffered devastating losses at the hands of the Devils and the Fallen, and the Biblical God sealed the dimension where He fought against the Satans, closing it off to all eyes.

As their battle ensued, the Fallen, having also suffered grievous losses, pulled back first, and the Devildom waited with bated breaths for the outcome.

However, a race that had made Underworld their home with the permission of Morningstar and Eveningshade, decided to take the opportunity to claim it for themselves.

Their Gods attacked when the Devils least expected, which resulted in losses that would hurt the Devils forever. Some Pillar Houses of Ars Goetia perished in the first battle, but then the wrath of the Devils fell on the Gods who had thought highly of themselves and took great pride in the strength of their race.

The remaining first Heaven-Born children of Lucifer and Amilith followed the lead of Aizen Darcaedes, the Guardian of Devildom, as they attacked the enemy without a hint of mercy.

Those who watched the war that unfolded, dropped any idea of ever taking on the Devils after they witnessed the carnage that Aizen and Viara Darcaedes unleashed upon their enemies, and at the end of the War, the Pantheon that had dared to attack them had perished to the very last child that bore their blood. An entire race of powerful beings was eradicated, but it did come at a price.

The enemy was strong, and even though the Devils won, most of the Heaven-Born Devils died as well, including Aizen and Viara.

However, even their passing could not convince the other Pantheons to take the risk. The reason was mainly that the House of Darcaedes still lived, and other than the Heaven-Born who died, the forces of Devildom were still, substantially, very strong and prepared to take on anyone if they dared to come after them.

More time passed, and there was no news of the Four Satans or the Biblical God, and then the day came that another catastrophe struck as the First Dragon War erupted.

It was then that the Worlds learnt about a battle that had been going on for while, hidden from their eyes, up in the Dimensional Gap.

Ophis, the Oroborus Dragon, the Dragon of Infinity, had lost a battle against a being even stronger than her, and she had been forced out of the Dimensional Gap.

The emergence of another Dragon God caused tremors in the blood of the Dragons as his Divinity engulfed them, fueling their desire for battle, and making all the Dragons around the Worlds go crazy.

No one was safe from their war as everyone suffered casualties, but the Underworld fared well until two of the Heavenly Dragons, Ddraig and Albion, who were considered to be on par with their Satans, brought their battle to Devildom.

And the devastation eventually forced the hands of the new Head of the Darcaedes Family and his wife, who decided to repel the two Heavenly Dragons out of their territory to save the Devil Race from more casualties. But everyone was in for a shock by what was about to unfold.

No one really expected Ddraig and Albion to take their interference as a hit to their pride, which resulted in them joining forces to eliminate Zerys and Alissa Darcaedes.

A battle ensued that rocked the Devildom, a battle where no other Devil who was present there could take part, and it scared those who had witnessed it. They were reminded once again of the wrath of the Devils, a nightmare which would forever haunt some people.

The two Devils were relatively young and weaker than their enemy, but against all odds, Zerys and Alissa Darcaedes managed to defeat the two dragons at the cost of their lives.

When the Devils who had witnessed the battle stepped forward, ridden with sorrow and rage at losing Zerys and Alissa, ready to end the miserable lives of the two Heavenly Dragons, who were sprawled helplessly on the ground, taking their last breaths, something happened that stopped them in their steps.

The despair the Devils felt when they saw the Biblical God suddenly appear in the sky nearly made most of them lose all hope. His presence meant that their Satans had fallen, and their race had grown even weaker.

However, the families of the Four Satans were not the ones to cower, and forward they stepped, ready to engage the Biblical God in another battle. But before they could act, the Biblical God sealed the two Heavenly Dragons in some sort of magical artefacts and then disappeared along with them.

No one saw him ever again, and the next few years were relatively peaceful, except that the Devildom was in constant despair and ever-ready for the legion of Angels that could be coming their way, led by the Biblical God himself.

However, such a day never came, and then the Devils learnt a piece of news that washed away the gloom that had been plaguing them.

A large number of Angels had Fallen, and the reason was that the Biblical God was taking his last breaths, having used his Powers to create some more Angels and a system of Sacred Gears, including the Supreme Scared Gears known as the Longinus, the Tools that destroy Gods, and He willed them to only manifest in those who bore the Human Blood.

Learning how weak and vulnerable the Heavens were at the time, the Children of the Four fallen Satans started rallying up their forces, but soon a divide presented itself in the Devildom when the Head of the House of Bael, Zekram, and the new Head of the House of Belial, Mysiera, two of the remaining Heaven-Born Devils, opposed the idea of attacking the Heavens and weakening their Race even further.

The tension in the Devildom rose in just a matter of a few days when the majority of the Devils decided to side with Zekram and Mysiera.

And then everyone turned to look at the House of Darcaedes, and the lone princess, the last of the Blood of Darcaedes, who was now the new Guardian of the Devildom after the passing of her parents.

She was the one with the most power.

The House of Darcaedes, the Guardians of the Devildom, commanded the Legion of the Original Demons, a race born to serve and protect the Devils, created by the Heaven-Born Devils themselves under their parents' instructions.

The families of the Original Demons and their Legions would only move if the young princess gave her command, and so, both sides decided to approach her.

A young girl, around the age of sixteen, a spitting image of their Mother Lilith, wearing a black crown on her shiny raven hair, gazed at her two messengers who came to her territory and stood before her in her court.

Her crimson eyes unnerved the two old Devils who stood before her, forcing them both to lower their eyes.

"Speak." She lightly said, allowing the Messenger from the House of Lucifer, Rubeus Lucifuge, to speak first.

"Lord Rizevim Lucifer requests the Princess to consider his offer of marriage." Rubeas lightly said, making the Powerful Devils of Darcaedes Court narrow their eyes at him.

However, deep down, some of them knew that it was something that could be considered.

With only their Princess left, there was no hope for another of the Darcaedes Blood to be born. The Bloodline of the House of Darcaedes worked differently than the other Devil Houses. It could only be passed down if both the Parents were Pure-Blood Darcaedes.

Any child born of the union of a Darcaedes and another House could not inherit the Clan Trait of the House of Darcaedes, and if that was not enough, they would not even bear the trademark shiny raven hair and crimson eyes that their Darcaedes parent possessed. They would be born a Pure-Blood Devil of their other parent's House, with the guarantee of manifesting their Clan Trait.

Their Princess was a prize that could guarantee the survival of any of the dying Pure-Blood Families such as the Mammon. And the other Messenger had indeed come there with a Marriage Proposal of their union.

Pandora Darcaedes listened to what both the Messengers had to say, and then a light smile crept on her lips.

"I refuse." She said, and her words hammered the minds of the two Messengers. "Darcaedes are the Guardians of the Devildom. I will protect our race from any external threats, but I will not be a part of an internal conflict and be responsible for the death of more Pillar Families. Tell Granduncle Zekram and Prince Rizevim that the territory of the House of Darcaedes will be sealed for all the Devils who are not associated with my House. And if there is any Devil Family, be it one of the Pillars of Ars Goetia, or one of the Extra-Devil Houses, they are welcome to take refuge in my territory if they do not wish to be part of the Civil War, but it will come at a price that they would have to serve my House."

Her words surprised everyone, and the two Messengers looked at her in disbelief. However, before either of them could speak again, a terrifying pressure descended on them and they watched in horror as the Princess unleashed her Demonic Power.

"I will kill anyone who dares trespass on my territory in the future." She declared. "And that includes Granduncle Zekram and Prince Rizevim."

Silence reigned in the hall as everyone beheld and experienced the most potent Demonic Power they had ever witnessed oozing out of their Princess. They had not even felt such constriction from the Four Satans or the former heads of the Darcaedes Family.

"Leave." She commanded, and her presence was felt all over Devildom and even beyond, scaring the forces who were snooping on their race.

And it was how Pandora Darcaedes became the reason no other race dared to interfere in the Devil Civil War that erupted a few months later.

The Devildom had a Guardian whom no one dared to provoke.
