DxD: The Tale of Blood

Chapter 1: Prologue

Aeons ago, when the Biblical God created the Universe, he created the Heavens, and in it, he created the Arch-Angels out of Light. At the same time, he created a pair of Devils out of Darkness.

They were Lucifer Morningstar and Amilith Eveningshade, who would later come to be known as Lilith.

Time passed, and God created more Angels out of the Tree of Light and Life, situated on the First Heaven. And as the Gardens of the Heavens began filling with more Angels, the two Devils lived happily in their Heavenly Abode, glad to see ever-growing life around them and the circle of friends whom they could play with.

The Angels and the two Devils watched the Biblical God create other living beings, magnificent beings of nature, and give life to the void. They watched him create Stars, Planets, and then life on those Planets, and Beasts capable of destroying them. It was not long before the Universe was filled with Light.

God then instructed the Angels to create a world called Arz, which would later earn many different names, the most common of which would be Earth.

Once the Angels finished their job, God rewarded them by blessing them with a myriad of Powers and Knowledge. He then linked Arz with the Heavens and instructed the two Devils to create another world, the Underworld, a project both Morningstar and Eveningshade took great interest in.

Whilst they were busy creating the Underworld, the Chaos birthed more Races, who started populating their own Worlds and Dimensions. And when the two returned to the Heavens, having finished their task, the Biblical God linked the Underworld with Arz. He then linked Arz with all other Dimensions where life existed and allowed the beings inhibiting those worlds a passage to both the Arz and the Underworld.

The reward the two Devils received for finishing their task was the True Knowledge of Life and the affinity to Light despite them being the creatures of Darkness. And God then asked them to create their family out of the knowledge he had blessed them with.

Lucifer and Amilith began their quest to create their own Family, and only then did they truly realise how powerful they were, and why they had not managed to have a child before. It was extremely difficult to birth children who could harness their complete Powers. Thus, using the True Knowledge of Life, they segregated their Powers, and soon, Amilith was pregnant with the first pair of Twins.

The Angels in the Heavens sang the songs of life and congratulated the pair, and took great care of the mother who was going to birth a pair of new Devils of Heaven.

Years later, the day finally came, and Amilith painfully birthed her first children, both of whom had inherited their father's shiny silver hair and eyes.

"Adrien and Anabel." Lucifer named them, to which the Angels cheered.

"Lucifer." Amilith suddenly said, making her husband turn to look at her.

"Yes?"

"They will have the name Lucifer." She beamed a smile at him. "Adrien and Anabel Lucifer."

"Of course." Lucifer laughed heartily and then announced the complete name of his first children to the Heavens, earning another round of blessings from the Angels.

Adrien and Anabel soon became the favourites of all the Heavens, and as soon as they were old enough to fly and use their powers, they started spending most of their time exploring their home, which never seemed to end and never ceased to amaze them.

Dozens of years later, Amilith gave birth to another pair of Twins, and unlike their siblings, these two had two beautiful curved horns on their heads, golden eyes, and raven hair.

"Argus and Myara Asmodeus." Amilith announced their names.

And life continued...

"Raiser and Bellana Leviathan."

"Stephanel and Misla Beelzebub."

"Zekram and Helena Bael."

"Kaius and Rubina Mammon."

"Marasius and Mysiera Belial."

After Amilith birthed her seventh pair of Twins, there was a long pause before she managed to get pregnant again.

However, this time, the pregnancy lasted for hundreds of years, and something unexpected happened that made both Amilith and Lucifer worried.

The pair of twins in her womb had started stealing her Powers. She was worried, yes, but she did not mind it, and lovingly fed them what they wanted, even if she knew what the cost would be. And so she started growing weaker as time passed.

When the twins were finally born, a soul-stirring smile beamed on Lucifer's face. He lovingly picked them up in his arms and smiled at his wife.

"They take after you, Lilith." He happily said, and then kept looking at the twins before he finally thought of the perfect names for them. "Aizen and Viara Darcaedes."

Amilith felt sweet in her heart, and once her brother handed the twins over to her, the little sadness she felt over knowing that she could not birth more children vaporised, replaced by her maternal love.

They were beautiful, and though she loved her husband's silver locks and eyes, she could not help but admit that these crimson eyes and shiny raven hair that they had inherited from her made them her most beautiful children.

Lucifer, Amilith, and their eight sets of twins lived happily for thousands of years in Heavens, but then the day came when the Messenger arrived at their door, asking them to appear before their Creator.

Their children had never before met God or seen him, and the parents could only smile at their excitement and enthusiasm. They were happy that their Children were finally getting the opportunity to meet God.

However, a foreboding feeling engulfed Amilith's heart when they entered the Hall of Life and found every Angel in the Heavens present there.

Whatever it was that they had been called there for, it was undoubtedly a very important occasion.

They looked at their Father, who was shrouded in a piercingly bright light that hurt the eyes of their children, but soon the young ones got used to it and followed their lead to bow to their All-Father.

The Devils soon learned why they had been called there, and they witnessed the creation of a being whom God had decided to create from mud. And such came to life a pair called Adam and Eve, the Primogenitors of Humanity.

The young Devils frowned when they saw the pair of a Man and Woman who had no wings on their backs and did not possess any extraordinary power.

"Kneel to them." And then a command resonated in all their minds.

The Angels barely hesitated for a moment before they all knelt, but the Devils stood straight.

"Why do you not kneel to them?" God asked as he looked at the children of Lucifer and Amilith.

"They are inferior, All-Father. They are not our equal or better" Adrien, the oldest of them, gritted his teeth and spoke, and most of his siblings nodded their heads to his words.

"Why do you not kneel to them?" God then turned to their parents, who were looking at him but then knelt to him.

"We only kneel to our Creator. To you." They said in unison, and silence reigned in the Hall of Life.

Their words resonated with the feelings of the Angels as well, but even if some wanted to stand up and turn to their creator, making it clear that they too only wanted to kneel to him, they felt a constriction from their Creator, which kept them in their places on the ground, kneeling to Adam and Eve.

"Leave the Heavens." And then fell the decree on Lucifer and Amilith, which made their bodies tremble in immense sorrow. "Go to your world, take your children with you, and you are never to return to the Heavens unless you are called."

"Yes, Father." They both loved who had created them. And even if they felt hurt, they obediently stood up and took their children away.

The Hall of Life seemed desolate as they left, and the Angels shed tears when they could no longer sense their presence. But they still kept their heads lowered because their Creator had commanded it.

However, no one really understood why their All-Father had done such a thing, but some Arch-Angels had complete faith in him and knew that He had a purpose in his mind.

Lucifer and Amilith tried to lift the spirits of their children once they arrived in the Underworld, but it was hard considering that they were now in a world that lacked Life. So, the Primogenitors of the Devils began making amendments to it, using the True Knowledge of Life that they still possessed to make this world a beautiful home for their children.

Years passed, and they managed to create a world that was beautiful in its own right, but they still could not help but miss the Heavens where they were created and where their Children were born. Their hearts never felt at ease in this world.

Amilith could no longer birth any children, but she managed to recover her lost Powers. She approached her husband one day and suggested creating more of their children using another method of creating Life.

In the next 10 Underworld Years, ten pairs of Twins were created, who in the future created some of the most powerful Devil Houses in the Devildom, namely, Agares, Paimon, Beleth, Astaroth, Balam, Phenex, Sitri, Barbatos, Valefor, and Gremory.

Amilith fell into a deep sleep after she created them, and did not wake for over a millennium. And by that time, she had already become a Grandmother.

"Mother Lilith." It was the name that her Grandchildren started addressing her with, and she did not have to think about where they had adopted it from.

Lilith was the nickname her beloved brother used for her, and now her Grandchildren had started mistaking it for her real name. Since she liked the sound of it, she did not correct them, perhaps a mistake on her part since everyone in the Devildom, except her children, would forget her true name.

Almost all her children now had children of their own, but she could still feel that they needed more of their kind as there were still a lot of different powers that she and her brother had not blessed their kind with.

Lucifer and Amilith then began creating more children, and they only stopped when they had created 54 more Houses.

It was how the Devildom's Ars Goetia was completed. 72 Devil Houses, all unique in their own right.

And finally, the Underworld did not seem too desolate.

This time, Amilith did not fall asleep alone as Lucifer too was tired, and when they woke up next, a couple of thousand years later, the Underworld had changed a lot.

Several other races, some of which had their own Divinities and had access to the Underworld, made it their home as well. And since the world was a little too big for them, they allowed them to stay.

However, conflicts were bound to occur, and they did. What made Lucifer and Amilith frown was the hatred that had manifested in their children towards God and humans.

Their children, who were born in Heaven, never truly felt at home in the Underworld. After all, no matter how beautiful they had made it, this world still fell short of the Heavens their All-Father had created.

Since both Lucifer and Amilith had forbidden their children from harming the humans, who at some point, whilst they slept, had started populating Arz and had started calling it Earth, no grievous mistakes were made.

Even though they were curious about what had happened and why Adam and Eve were sent to Arz, they did not go to the Heavens to learn the truth. But they understood what happened when they saw familiar faces fall into the Underworld, their brilliant white-feathered wings having lost their lustre and turned to an accursed black colour.

Adam and Eve broke a rule, and they were instigated by Samael, who had fallen from the Heavens.

More time passed, and both Lucifer and Amilith started missing their home more and more. They travelled everywhere to better their mood but failed, and then they isolated themselves and only looked forward to the call from the Heavens, leaving the Underworld solely in the hands of their Elder Children.

And tens of thousands of years later, when strife and conflict plagued the Underworld and Earth, God finally called Lucifer and Amilith to meet him.

Their Children were hopeful, and a little happy, but when they did not return for a long time, they became restless.

At some point, every single devil started feeling cold for some reason, and a gloom washed over them. No one understood why they had started feeling this way, and they did not find the reason for a long time.

And then one day, Adrien Lucifer, the Satan Lucifer of the Underworld, learned a piece of news from a newly Fallen Angel that made his blood turn cold.

Lucifer Morningstar and Amilith Eveningshade were dead. Their All-Father had killed their parents.

And thus began a war that shook the Heavens, the Earth, and the Underworld...
