Chapter 197: Infinite Burst
Ray's fist imbued in flames punched forth, faith at stake and confidence welling in, but the moment that fist contacted that descending dome of darkness –all he could feel was despair.
*BOOOMMMM!!!*
The explosion blasted the skies, and spread shockwaves far enough to disperse the clouds and clear up the firmament, however... it wasn't enough.
"Ugh!"
His fist felt like it had just hit the mount everest made out of steel. Not only did the ball not flinch at all with the full-blown explosion of Sun Burst, but Ray even felt himself get pushed back!
Holding the gigantic sphere, Avarice stared at Ray's despaired gaze with vindication, pushing his finger forward to make it descend faster towards the hopeless city of Calissa. This dome wouldn't just obliterate Calissa... it was likely the whole region that was going to get wasted.
"It is not as light as you thought, right? This is the difference between a mere god and a void warper" Avarice mocked.
!!!
"You keep talking, Void Warper this, Void Warper that... I don't give a fuck" Ray smiled with a shivering fist, pushing forward with everything he had... for a moment he even doubted something was not right with his power, but looking back... the whole world was scorching, the atmosphere pressure escalated, all due to his power.
It wasn't that he was weak, the void was just too strong. ,
His smile stammered, a futile attempt at keeping his calm in front of the chaos, he evaluated the situation and there was no easy way out.
'This guy is too strong, if I flee... the Baharut Empire will be gone, I can't...' He thought of possibilities, what to do? 'Anything I can do requires system capacity which I don't have, dammit!'.
'This is worse than anticipated...' Ophis' voice rang in his mind.
'What can we do, Ophis? I just put my whole strength in this fist and it didn't do jack shit...'
As if to mock him further, a doppelganger of Avarice manifested from the void, staring at his struggling self from up close.
"How does it feel? Despair... what will you choose? to flee? to die? To let those beneath you die and increase the darkness in their hearts even further? There is not an outcome in which you win, Elyseum... I shall propose to you again: Work with me, and I shall turn you into the deepest dark sun... I will turn you into 'Elysir', the never-ending swallowing sun!" Avarice's voice held so much malice and expectations as if he could see the future of what Ray could turn into.
Ray exhaled with too many questions to ask, but too little time and yet firm convictions. He looked at the monsters straight in the eyes.
"I don't know what Elysir you're talking about, the one I love shines like the brightest sun, she does know how to swallow dick but that's beyond the point".
"You–"
"Fuck you, Avarice... I won't give away!"
There was something that could be done, it didn't matter if it was feeble and pathetic at first, as long as it increased the odds.
*RUMBLE!*
His body burned in flames, those flames flickered between golden and pitch-black, and his black hair too gained prominence. Ray recalled he wasn't just a sun, he was an eclipse.
!!!
"This is..." Avarice's countenance finally changed when he felt a looming energy. It was not the magnitude of the energy, but its implications.
"Impossible... both... in the same body?!"
[Infinity: 40%]
[Void: 26%]
Ray's veins bulged up, the energy irradiating from his body reached the peak, even if just a little, that ball of darkness receded, but even then it wasn't enough!
'Why the fuck is this guy so strong!?'
'Baka Ray, do you trust me?' Ophis asked him all of a sudden.
'I trust you! I trust you! if you have something do it now!' He screamed frantically.
Avarice looked at him and frowned, he then put his gaze on the city where he could feel yet another troublesome energy reading welling up; overwhelming faith.
"Hehe you surprised me for a second there, so what if you have both? mere shallow understanding... you're far from reaching the realm of a void warper–".
The dragon that coiled around Ray's neck took the lead slithering across his hand, to the front.
"It is surprising that despite being such a knowledgable being, you still fail to grasp that faith has plenty of uses" Ophis mumbled confidently.
"What did you say?" Avarice's brows flinched, for him they were nothing but ridiculous ramblings of a minor deity. But Ophis had a plan, one she had already executed before plenty of times, although never to this scale.
"Let's teach him, Baka Ray. I haven't been resting on your soul for nothing... there is something only we can do, Ray".
The black snake entered Ray's body and transformed into a tattoo that ran along his body, coiling and wrapping it up as if it were hers.
*RUMBLE!*
That was when Ray felt it: Potential.
"Even the strongest of suns shines from the moment it is born, throughout its lifetime, until it decays and dies. But you have me slumbering within you. As long as we are together, we are infinite" Ophis chanted.
*BOOOOOMMMMM!!!*
Avarice was forced to close his eyes when a light so bright to shatter all darkness shone in the world.
!!!
"O Beloved Sun, warm dwelling home, let your flames blaze an eternity within a single second!"
A fist, blazing white flames, the reckless growling of a dragon that devours its tail for eternity. A humanoid godly body with draconic attributes.
The very sun.
*GROWL!*
*BOOOOOOMMMM!!!!*
An impossibly small light fist met a mountain-sized darkness. The explosion shook the very space, it shone so brightly that everyone's eyes burned, the temperature increasing marginally with every passing second.
"HAAAAAAA!!!!"
"IMPOSSIBLE!" The ball of darkness began to crumble in front of Avarice's stupefied eyes as he saw the manifestation of an undying sun.
The whole world knew, far across the continent, to the north, to the east or to the west, they saw it... a pillar of light, the sun had descended into the world and the atmosphere felt oppressive, first it was darkness, now it was an overbearing light.
The ones that felt the backlash the most were those in Calissa, Emperor Jicniv put both his hands together to pray that the sun which they worshipped, wasn't going to consume them alive. Ophis had risked it all, she wanted her and her mate to survive, and she couldn't be bothered with humans. All she hoped was that Ray wouldn't be too sad in the aftermath.
The explosion was going to reach the capital, until a silhouette ascended from within the earth.
*BAANGG!*
A giantess of nature, Galadriel. With purple skin and a blazing hair that shone with just as much light as Ray's. She woke up, she sensed her lord's predicaments and she acted accordingly.
The citizens of the city didn't even know where to look anymore, whether it be the dark dome in the skies, the undying light fighting against it or this gigantess that manifested out of nowhere crushing the foundations of the city to rebuild them back and protect them from demise.
A gigantic water dome formed around the whole kingdom, it scorched in different layers, but Galadriel was determined. As she saw her saviour punch that dome of darkness, she couldn't repress her feelings as tears welled up.
"YOU CAN DO IT, YOUR MAJESTY!" Jicniv screamed.
"GO, SUN GOD!" The citizen screamed.
"GO, LORD OSIRIS!" The dark elves screamed.
With overwhelming faith, there was no choice but to deliver.
*BOOOOOOMMMM!!!*
The explosion shattered the skies and sent a blast into space that was seen across half of the world and into outerspace, they were all blinded by the brightness. Galadriel's barrier struggled to hold, but Ray was not the same as before and neither was she... three kilometre radius around the Baharut Empire became a complete wasteland filled to the brim with remnants of what resembled a delightful and gorgeous golden-coloured ore that wasn't gold.
It was armatista.
Light defeated the darkness dissipated, and evil receded. Two suns shone that day and after thousands of years, this world finally saw true light once again.
Far away in the beastly plains, two ladies who had been mortified at the sudden news from Katsuyu, saw the pillar of light and unconsciously a smile sprouted on their faces, there was nothing to worry about.
