DxD: Multiversal Therapist

Chapter 196: Void Warpers III

An oppressing atmosphere, the inside of this barrier resembled something totally detached from this world. Avarice's power had sucked everything into a vacuum. The girls wouldn't be able to survive in this environment even after becoming this strong, I had to take them into my moonlight mist. Only Ophis, this midnight elf (a soul) and I could survive in it.

I stared at the big pitch-black ice sphere that emitted a subtle aura of Rias' destruction.

*WHOOSH!*

Ophis in her eastern dragon form coiled around the black sphere, her two claws hovered at either side.

"Quite the monsters you have created with those therapies, Baka Ray" She mumbled, almost mocking.

*RUMBLE!*

A purple magic array manifested and encased the sphere with an aura of infinity. The world around us froze and turned grey, resembling limbo. It took me some time to understand what Ophis was doing—she was tampering with time laws!

"This is absolute ice. the type of which was only possible at the very beginning of the universe in the most primitive form of the world. I never thought I'd see it again, I was but an infant then who had just materialised as an embodiment of infinity" Her claws tried to pry into the ice, only to be frozen as well, urging her to remove her claw away.

"Careful!" I screamed more than see what was happening, I could feel how her claw froze beyond redemption, that was no simple ice.

Ophis had to slice that claw away... there was no way to heal up.

"Don't worry about me. I know how to deal with this ice... but so does he. This is a double-edged sword for us. As he is right now, he is too weak to destroy this absolute ice, however... within this ice, there is no time axis, he has as much time as he needs within it, I will try to delay his recovery as much as I can, in the meantime..." Ophis looked at the midnight elf in my arms.

"You should focus on her... her soul is dying away, if you don't help her quickly, she will perish and right now we need her".

Ophis was not one of many words, but I could feel the concern in her voice... this dragoness is worried? I don't think Avarice is that much stronger than me, that's a gap I believe I can overcome, but she's the wise one, not me.

"Is it that bad?" I asked while carrying the elf towards the corrupted Elf Cores. I kept my eyes on Ophis at all times even as the darkness threatened to lash out from within the ice.

"That being you were fighting was far from his maximum strength, his mastery over void surpasses even Baka Red's, and those are not simple words. If he is given time to recover, he could turn into a real threat to us, but at the same time, the current you can't completely kill him, void can't be erased" She said, looking at me before she put her sight back on the sphere, I noticed something I didn't like... a droplet of pitch-black blood flowing down her right eye.

"Ophis...!"

"I am no multiversal being like you or him, neither is that elf. We are limited deities... I can travel to other worlds, but I can't carry my power alongside me, the infinity laws which I precede are not these... as such, I have limitations––hence my concern" She sighed, "Now that I have found a home, and a mate... I want to lay an egg".

I was momentarily rooted in place, she just said that so casually and at such an unexpected time.

"I want to lay an egg with my mate... is that wrong?"

"I-I don't know how the process works but... I will help you in any way I can".

"Then hurry up, we must defeat this foe, that elf is essential".

I nodded, a bit anxious at her request as I pretty much knew what it entailed... I didn't know if I was ready for it, but at the same time, I didn't think I could refuse anything she asked me. I shook my head and put that in the back of my mind, placing the corrupted elf on top of one of the elfic cores.

When I tried to put her down, she didn't let go.

*cough!*

*cough!*

She coughed some pitch-black corrupted blood, looked back up at me, and then smiled. My brows twitched at that charming and calm smile of hers even as half of her body was bleeding in blackness.

"Girl, what's wrong with you?! I can't help you if you don't let go!"

"I am in so much pain... when I touch you, that pain is relieved... please don't let me go." She tugged on my sleeve and made that puppy face that for some reason, with her was so effective, sadly... I can't allow myself to be swayed by it now.

I sighed, "What is your name?"

"I am Galadriel a-and you?" She stuttered with a tone of respect, like addressing a god.

"Galadriel, what a regal and pretty name. I am Ray, nice to meet you"

Her eyes glistened, "Then lord Ra– Ah!"

I dumped her inside the corrupted elfic core from where she was yanked out, "Sorry, but we don't have time to lose, Galadriel".

The core shone in blackness, I first purified what I now knew was her right foot, then the left where I had dumped her.

[-20.000 Chaos Points].

I flinched a bit at the cost, it is all for the greater good and keeping my word with Anna. The process wasn't as smooth as before, those two cores were the most corrupt and dark out of them all, the darkness receded, replaced by god, but at such a slow rate...

*BOOOOMMMMM!!*

I heard a big shockwave coming from the blackened ice, it was a spatial shockwave.

"Ophis, you're okay?!"

"Not a problem" The dragoness showed me the thumbs up, an uncharacteristic yet cute motion from her, "He is trying to regain control over the time axis from within, I won't let him".

I nodded, although it didn't look so simple to me, the grey world around us was flickering as if she was struggling to keep it active. The two elfic cores were restored little by little as the tremours within the ice cage grew stronger and stronger.

Flowers and marguerites spread from the two restored feet, and yet, they wouldn't move. It seemed as if Galadriel still needed some time to recover even after that.

Soon when the spatial shockwaves became too strong, Ophis reached her limit.

"Ray, I can't keep him much longer... once he is out this barrier is going to crumble" She said.

"Come to me, Ophis" I recalled her, extending my arm forward.

*WHOOSH!*

Ophis' body waved like a haze, enveloping me and shrinking until she was a small dragon hooking around my shoulder.

As her array receded, normalcy returned to the world, it was no longer grey... white cracks spread around the ice turning pitch-black with every second until...

*BOOOMM!!*

The sphere burst.

"Ahhh, far from the peak but still enough to deal with the likes of a Higher God. That annoying dragoness of yours... I am quite interested in her and her infinity, her keen are very rare in the multiverse, and you both make a rather annoying duo, a humanoid starcore and an infinity embodiment... if allowed to live..." He smiled wickedly, his attention no longer on me but on the dragon on my neck, which annoyed me further.

"Once I destroy your soul and assimilate your body, I will thoroughly study her".

"..."

I didn't lash out in outrage, instead analysed him. He looked like a creature straight out of this world, like the darkness firmament was his body.

"You hold this world dear don't you, Elyseum?".

"..." I actually don't... it is not my world, or so I thought, in reality, I have already left roots in this world that I can't afford them be destroyed.

"Let me show you what true darkness is!"

He clicked his fingers and the three of us disappeared from this cave, when I opened my eyes, we were in the skies.

!!!

"Impossible..." Ophis gasped, making this dragon gasp is not easy, you know? He can teleport himself, cool... but he can teleport us as well without us noticing!?

"Humans are wonderful beings, even some such as myself must admit... they're extraordinary puppets blinded by faith. As a supplement, they're yet another one of this planet's survival mechanisms, the more complex one".

He snapped his fingers again and a ball of darkness surged in his hand.

Beneath us was the capital of the Baharut Empire.

"There is no greater amusement, no great exposure of darkness than to see an empire crumble from the inside. The most gratifying way to destroy the earth is to corrupt its humans~"

"Higher God, your faith comes from the light of hope of humans... mine comes from their darkness and sin. Who do you think this world leans towards?".

The ball of darkness covered the skies like a black hole, it grew before I could even notice. The darkness of this world, the corruption, the death and distress... this world was beyond salvation, this was the seed he planted and sprouted.

However, even in this situation, I could feel it.

*RUMBLE!!*

I raised my hand imbued in golden flames, my tattoos shining like never before, I finally understood what faith represents.

"Say whatever you want, but I can feel their faith coming".

Beneath, the capital, they knelt down and prayed to their god.

"HELP US, SUN GOD OSIRIS!"

I couldn't help but smile as I looked at Avarice and the gigantic ball of darkness that he represented, the same one that was now covering the skies, the sun... but there is another sun down here, and it scorches way more.
