DxD 0040: Doing Charity Work (1/2)
Abaddon walked with a skip in his step as he went to talk with Rias who was in the clubroom.
As he walked in without knocking on her door, he was greeted by a pretty nice scene as Akeno was walking out of the shower naked while drying her hair.
“Fufu… How are you, A-kun? I presume everything went well?” Akeno said calmly.
Taking a few seconds to admire her naked busty body, he said with a little smile, “Yeah. I’m done. It was a lot of fun.”
“You look creepy, let her dress,” Rias jumped in. “It’s fine Buchou, I don’t think A-kun is creepy. His appreciative look is endearing.” Akeno came to his defense.
“See what you’ve done? You’ve practically turned my Queen against me.” Rias glared at him with blame in her eyes.
“Yeah yeah. I have some interesting information for you. You don’t have a healer in your peerage. I just got the information that the now-dead fallen angel and her group were targeting a nun with Twilight Healing.” He said to Rias.
“Oh? That’s a pretty rare sacred gear even when it comes to the other healing ones…” Rias said.
“Yeah. I thought that you might want to add the nun to your peerage.” He said. “Why aren’t you taking her for yourself?” Rias asked before continuing, “Twilight Healing is very useful in combat.” She said.
“I had to make it up to you somehow. I took a Longinus from you after all.” He shrugged.
“Ehh!” There were three distinct exclaims in the room. Akeno, Kiba, and Konoko all looked at Abaddon with disbelief.
“You didn’t tell them?” He asked Rias with an amused smile. “I thought that you wouldn’t want people to know…” She said with a helpless smile. She hadn’t expected him to just out himself like that, ‘Though that was my fault, he would never go out of his way to hide something…’
“It’s fine. I don’t do low-key anyway. Who wants to see the Boosted Gear?” He looked at her peerage who didn’t really react much, “I expected at least some enthusiasm…” He said dryly.
“I’d love to see your throbbing gear. A-kun…” Akeno said with a flirty tone that told him that she was definitely not talking about the Boosted Gear. “Let’s do that tonight, Akeno-chan…” He said in response.
“Hate to bust your bubble, Akeno. But he’s sleeping with me.” Rias interjected with a final tone. Akeno whined, “You’re no fair, Buchou…”
Abaddon smiled amusedly and was about to comment but one glare from Rias made him decide to change the topic instead, “So anyway, back to the nun with Twilight Healing. The fallen angels are using the church uptown as their base, and the nun will be arriving on Monday, the day after tomorrow. You should keep an eye on her.” Abaddon told Rias before walking out of the room. As normal as he seemed, he was also tired. He’d just done a 15-day marathon of sex with that fallen angel, Raynare, and although he was fine due to the assistance of Aether and taking some food breaks, he wanted to rest.
‘I need to check out my king piece…’ He thought. Since he finally had some target to be greedy toward, he wanted to see if the greed aspect of the piece had been awakened.
Sitting on his bed and locking everything, he summoned his king piece out and revealed its true form.
‘The yellow glow is also there now, albeit faint…’ Pride was still the color at the top, but this time Lust was after that followed by Sloth while Wrath was at the fourth position. Greed, represented by yellow, was now in fifth place. ‘I have been pretty lustful and lazy recently…’ He mused with a grin.
He put the piece back in its place as he removed the barriers before casting a communication circle, “Where are you, Aika?” He asked.
“I’m out doing a job, Abaddon-sama.” She said.
“Oh… How long will it take?” He asked her.
“A while, master. It’s going to take a few hours to finish up here.” She said regretfully, “I can leave it if you require my assistance.” She said. Abaddon was always her first priority.
“Nah, it’s fine. I’ll train instead.” He said, thinking of his Boosted Gear that he hadn’t yet explored.
Cutting the connection with Aika, he connected to Rias, “Babe, you got a minute?” He asked. “I’m your cousin, Abaddon. Not your girlfriend.” She said. “Yet.” He corrected her.
“What is it?” She asked with a cheeky tone that made Abaddon imagine her with a slight smile on her face.
“Any stray devils around? Or anyone who would be up for a fight?” He asked.
“You’d rather go fight than laze around in bed?” She asked with surprise evident in her tone.
“I know… Everyone’s busy, I can’t sleep without someone beside me. And I’m itching to try out the Boosted Gear. You got something for me?” He asked.
“I do have a troublemaker I’ve received a few reports about. I haven’t had the chance to take care of it yet, so how about you help out?” She asked.
“Sure, send me the location. I’m feeling charitable today.” He said.
“Fuck off, I don’t need your charity,” Rias said before closing the connection. Abaddon felt an unbearable itch rise up within himself as he felt like he was just left hanging before a climax. He reconnected the circle with Rias, “What is—“ Before she could say anything, he said, “You’re getting my charity, whether you like it or not.” And he closed the connection before sighing in relief.
On the other side, Rias was left baffled at his need to get the last word in.
…
After receiving the location of the stray devil, Abaddon cast a teleportation circle and appeared in the sky above the abandoned mansion. ‘This is the place, huh…’ He looked at it and saw multiple traps filled with demonic energy all around the mansion.
“Cool…” He focused on the flow of energy within him and made it act with the intent of bringing out his new sacred gear.
With a green glow, the red gauntlet of the Boosted Gear formed over his left hand. As the energy within his body flowed through it, it extended up his forearm and reached his elbow. The armor had a scaly design as multiple scales formed the gauntlet that reached up to his elbow. There was a dark green gem on the back of his palm and another just below his elbow.
“Hey, Draig. Can the Boosted Gear work in conjunction with this?” Abaddon asked as he summoned his Armor of Destruction on his other arm.
He didn’t receive a response from Draig for a few seconds. He was going to ask again but Draig answered, ‹The current version of the Boosted Gear doesn’t support your Destruction energy.›
“The current version you say…” Abaddon trailed off, wanting Draig to expand upon his words.
‹Each user of the Boosted Gear had their own unique aspects that were incorporated into the artifact. It should be the same with you, as you expose the Boosted Gear to the energy of Destruction, it will start resonating with that energy and incorporate its power. That’s the point where you can meld the Boosted Gear with that armor of yours.›
“I understand. Cool… And can you tell me about your basic powers that I should have access to before going into the fight?” He asked.
‹Boost and transfer. Figure them out yourself.› Draig went quiet.
“Nice.” He said as he remembered when he’d transferred Aether to Seekvaira, ‘It must’ve been because of the transfer aspect…’
For now, he tried to utilize boost.
«BOOST»
The sound seemed to come out of nowhere as Abaddon was taken aback by the voice.
“Bro, please tell me I can mute this… I can’t go around with my gear shouting boost every time I’m preparing for an ambush…” He said to Draig.
‹It’s your artifact. Use it as you would an artifact.› Draig told him, understanding his state of mind.
“I see… I was thinking of the Boosted Gear in the wrong manner.” He said as he realized that Draig wasn’t the Boosted Gear. He was just the spirit of the dragon that was used to create the artifact.
He attempted to boost again but was unsuccessful, ‘I guess there’s a cooldown…’
“How long is the cooldown for boost, Draig?” He asked.
‹10 seconds›
A few seconds later, there was a flash of green in the gem and Abaddon was boosted again. But this time there was no sound.
‘Thank fuck…’ He experimented around with a few more things as he figured out how to use the Boosted Gear. He could use Boost to instantly double the power of any of his aspects. With a 10-second cooldown, he could Boost as many times as he wanted or at least as much as he could endure. For now, he hadn’t explored the limit as he felt that he was bursting with power after just boosting 5 times.
He had focused the boosts completely on his physique as he felt that he could punch through his own destruction armor. Of course, it was an illusion due to the immense power increase, but that was what he felt.
“Let’s fuck up a stray…” He smiled excitedly.
