Chapter 87: Chapter 87: Brother Will Carry You to Diamond
Supreme Equipment?
Upon hearing this voice, Zhao Ming's eyes turned red with excitement.
"System, what level is this Supreme Equipment exactly?"
"Rest assured, anything produced by the system is of the highest quality. Supreme Equipment is a collection of the most powerful gear from various worlds. For example, it could be the 'Hatred of the Earth' set from Heaven's Jewel Change, the 'Ancient Eternal Flame Ruler' from Battle Through the Heavens, or the 'Eight Ancestors' Glazed Bowl' from Martial Universe. However, what you pull is purely based on your luck."
So impressive?
Gear from various worlds? The thought alone was enough to get Zhao Ming excited.
Suddenly, he found the Soto City Great Spirit Arena much more appealing.
According to the rules of the Soto Great Spirit Arena, his opponents would all be spirit masters of the same rank, meaning they would all be Spirit Elders like him.
Facing opponents of the same rank didn't concern Zhao Ming at all. To ascend from Iron Badge to Diamond Badge, all he needed to do was maintain a winning streak. While this might be an impossible task for people like Ma Hongjun, it was no problem for Zhao Ming. Even if he were thrown into the Spirit Ancestor or even Spirit King group, he wouldn't be afraid.
Of course, this level of ease only applied to someone like Zhao Ming, who essentially had a cheat code.
In reality, the Diamond Spirit Badge hadn't been seen in Douluo Continent for many years. To achieve such an honor, you needed to not just be unmatched in your rank, but far surpass your peers.
The Great Spirit Arena is a dangerous place. Although Zhao Ming and his team would be participating in sparring matches where killing wasn't allowed, the risk of injury or even being maimed was still high.
And once a spirit master is injured or disabled, their chances of advancing become slim.
Zhao Ming figured that his opponents with Sapphire or Ruby badges would likely be around level 39, possessing the peak combat abilities of a Spirit Elder, while those aiming for the Diamond badge could possibly have the combat strength to match Spirit Ancestors.
For a regular Spirit Elder to earn the Diamond Badge, they'd need to start competing from level 37, at the very least. Since it takes longer to match with stronger opponents as you progress, it could take over half a year to reach Diamond status. If you start competing at level 38 or 39, you might level up to Spirit Ancestor before you even get there. It's incredibly difficult for someone at level 37 to consistently defeat level 39 opponents, especially those elite Spirit Elders.
But for Zhao Ming? It was far too easy!
"Brother Ming, what's with that expression?" Ma Hongjun noticed Zhao Ming's slight smirk, his face darkening in response.
"What's so special about the Purple-Gold Badge? If I'm going to compete, I might as well aim for the highest level badge," Zhao Ming replied with a casual smile, patting Ma Hongjun on the shoulder.
"The highest level?" Ma Hongjun repeated, his expression shifting as realization dawned on him. His face turned pale as he stammered, "Brother Ming... You mean you're going for the Diamond Badge?"
"What's wrong with the Diamond Badge? It's just a few Spirit Elders, I can take care of them with a wave of my hand," Zhao Ming said nonchalantly.
Hearing Zhao Ming's words, Ma Hongjun became excited, his eyes filled with admiration for Zhao Ming.
Xiao Wu, looking at Zhao Ming, was similarly dazzled. She knew that Zhao Ming never made false claims. If he said he would do something, he would. Even though she knew Zhao Ming could easily achieve it, the thought of him holding the highest honor of the Great Spirit Arena, receiving the admiration and respect of all, filled her with excitement.
"Good! Good! Good!" Even Flender was fired up after hearing Zhao Ming's declaration. He knew Zhao Ming really had the potential to accomplish this.
What would it mean to have a student with a Diamond Badge?
It would be an immense honor!
And, how much money could Flender earn from this? Adjusting his glasses, Flender could already see piles of gold coins calling out to him.
"You should all strive to do your best and not limit yourselves to just the tasks I've assigned. Learn from Zhao Ming, aim for the Gold Badge at least."
"Yes!" Zhao Ming's bold ambition had ignited a fire in the others. They were all geniuses and naturally couldn't accept having such a huge gap between themselves and Zhao Ming. His words had stirred their fighting spirit.
"Headmaster Flender," Ning Rongrong hesitated for a moment before speaking.
"What's the matter, Rongrong?" Flender asked.
"Both Oscar and I are support-type spirit masters. If we participate in the fights, won't we be doomed?" Ning Rongrong asked, eyes wide with concern.
"You two don't need to participate in one-on-one matches. You'll be taking part in team battles. Support-type spirit masters rarely participate in individual fights, and it's not necessary for you to do so either. Your job is to observe the matches. Watching different kinds of spirit masters in combat will help you better assist your teammates in the future and prepare you for facing dangerous situations," Flender explained as he led them into the Soto Great Spirit Arena.
As they entered, the first thing that caught their attention was a massive stone monument with countless names etched onto it. These were the names of those who had died in combat.
Most of these deaths occurred in life-and-death matches, where only one participant could walk away alive. Zhao Ming and his group were competing in sparring matches, where fatal blows were forbidden, but injuries were still common.
The registration process for the Great Spirit Arena was simple. They had to fill out a form with their name, age, place of birth, and spirit. Upon completion, they would receive their Iron Spirit Badges. The registration fee was ten gold coins per person.
They also underwent a spirit power test to confirm their levels, which helped determine their opponents in the arena.
After they completed their registrations, Flender explained a few more details and then left.
…
"Rongrong, what's with the long face?" Zhao Ming asked, noticing that Ning Rongrong had been in a bad mood ever since they entered the Soto Great Spirit Arena. He knew it was because she couldn't participate in the fights. With her personality, watching others fight while she sat on the sidelines was bound to frustrate her.
"You're just asking the obvious," Ning Rongrong replied, shooting Zhao Ming a glare.
"Don't worry. Once we're more familiar with the arena, you can join us for the team battles. Then you'll be able to fight," Zhao Ming said with a smile.
"And how long will that take? Why don't you take me into the arena with you? I can support you, and I'm great at it!" Ning Rongrong's eyes lit up as she looked at Zhao Ming.
"Take you?" Zhao Ming raised an eyebrow. "That's against the rules. I'm a Spirit Elder, and you're only a Spirit Grandmaster. We're not in the same rank."
"I know I'm a Spirit Grandmaster, but I can still fight in the Spirit Elder bracket, right? You're so strong, you'd definitely win even with me helping!" Ning Rongrong fluttered her eyelashes at Zhao Ming, trying to use her charm.
"Well, that's true. I might even carry you to a Diamond Badge," Zhao Ming said with a smirk, his eyes twinkling as he looked at Ning Rongrong. "But what's in it for me if I take you with me?"
"Diamond?" Ning Rongrong was momentarily stunned, but then she became excited. She knew Zhao Ming was incredibly strong and that he could very well carry her to the Diamond Badge. Once she returned to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan with a Diamond Badge, they would have no choice but to look at her in a new light.
Excitedly, she said, "If you can help me get a Diamond Badge, I'll agree to anything you want."
"Anything?" Zhao Ming raised his brows, his gaze trailing over Ning Rongrong's figure.
Blushing under his gaze, Ning Rongrong's heart raced, but she quickly composed herself. "Of course, I mean it. If you dare to take me to Diamond, I dare to give you whatever you want."
"Deal, then." Zhao Ming chuckled, clearly amused by the playful exchange.
Ning Rongrong blinked, momentarily stunned.
She had thought Zhao Ming was just joking around. After all, she was the daughter of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan—someone no one would dare to disrespect. But Zhao Ming seemed... serious.
"What? Are you thinking of backing out?"
"Of course not! I, Ning Rongrong, always keep my word," she said, puffing out her chest in confidence.
