Chapter 33: Chapter 24 God of Scolding_2
Shiller, hearing the God of Symbiotic Body speaking in such a rage, kept hearing a syllable "Nataru" repeat. He guessed it's likely the equivalent of an F-word in the language of the Symbiotic species.
So when the God of Symbiotic Body finished another lengthy tirade, Shiller casually threw out: "Nataru."
The opposite side fell into an eerie silence.
This was the first time the God of Symbiotic Body, who had been swearing for years, had been cussed out himself.
Shiller's guess was spot on; the word was indeed a swear word in the God of Symbiotic Body's language, which provoked an even angrier tirade from the deity. But Shiller responded the same way, simply replying with: "Nataru."
After hearing it so often, Shiller even picked up a few additional expletives, even imitating the exact intonation and pronunciation.
Whenever the God of Symbiotic Body launched into a long discourse, Shiller took a few of these words and slung them back.
Anyway, it's not like the God of Symbiotic Body could come through the computer cable and hit him. Whether he's the Lord of the Abyss or has killed the Celestial squad, it doesn't matter.
While he continued to trade barbs with the God of Symbiotic Body, he also reviewed the story of this ancient being's origins.
The God of Symbiotic Body seemed quite unlucky. Regardless of good or bad, the pieces of himself that fell off and later rebelled ended up locking him up, and they even imprisoned the creator separately on a planet. From what it looks like, he's been imprisoned for a long time.
It's actually not hard to understand his swearing. If it were Shiller in that situation, he'd be cursing too.
Then Shiller started researching how to replicate the power of the God of Symbiotic Body. However, he was a little hesitant because he believed the God of Symbiotic Body's power revolved around creating symbionts, something Shiller didn't really want.
He clicked on the picture and saw that the four characters representing the ability to replicate had turned red. There was a bracket next to it, with the words: "Target ability is currently mutating. Please copy with caution."
Shiller had never seen this phenomenon before.
This takes us back to the origin story of the God of Symbiotic Body.
Once imprisoned, the God of Symbiotic Body wouldn't idly sit by. He would naturally try to escape. Shiller was wisely late to the party. The God of Symbiotic Body hadn't thought of this method for long before Shiller connected with him.
The God of Symbiotic Body is a very ancient being. Though not confirmed as the first creature in the Seventh Universe, he is certainly among the first few.
His strength largely stems from his innate gifts, but he isn't particularly smart. The fact that he could think of an escape plan isn't due to wisdom, but more a result of his special nature. Shiller didn't read the comic about this part much in his previous life, but he knew that the offsprings of the God of Symbiotic Body varied in strength; some were very strong, while others were weak.
Some symbiotic offsprings possess special abilities. The God of Symbiotic Body plans to use this characteristic. He intends to create a unique symbiont - a descendant without a physical form but a conscious smoke. When he transfers his consciousness to this descendant, he could escape the prison of the planetary cage.
Honestly, this isn't a very clever method, and there's no guarantee he could escape. But since the God of Symbiotic Body is imprisoned on a lonely planet, what else can he do other than find something to kill time? So he spends his days either swearing or breeding.
Just as he had created a new descendant and prepared to transfer his consciousness, Shiller connected with him. Hence, the God of Symbiotic Body's ability was in the process of mutation because he was shifting his consciousness into the new body, and the ability was also turning into the new body's ability.
Generally speaking, if the target to connect with is like the God of Symbiotic Body, Shiller would find it difficult to copy his ability, just like it is with the untouched Little Spider. What the God of Symbiotic Body relied on to fight in the cosmos was the powerful Living Abyss Death Sword. The ability he gained after being defeated and falling, splitting into dark creatures, also originated from his innate nature that popped up suddenly. There's no source to trace back to.
These are all abilities that Shiller can't replicate. Even if he could, he wouldn't replicate this one. Why would he cut himself into thin slices? What's more, those fragments he split from might join forces and betray him, which is clearly unreliable.
So without any hesitation, Shiller chose to replicate the ability that was currently mutating. If this ability turns out to be the invisibility type or one that can evade harm, then Shiller would hit jackpot. Even if it's somewhat like Venom, possessing considerable power or turning into a battlesuit, it would be pretty good too.
"Symbiotic Haze (Special Ability) has been loaded."
For a moment, Shiller felt like he had another field of view. He was still using his own eyes, but the one using them wasn't him. The signals received by the eyes were still transmitted into his brain.
It seemed like he had directly copied a symbiont over.
No, it felt a little different. The system can't bring any foreign matter to Shiller when copying abilities, nor can it duplicate the other party's equipment or other physical entities.
For example, if Shiller were to copy Iron Man's ability, he might gain Stark's genius mind or his ability to develop equipment, but he can't obtain a finished Mecha like Mark 5.
The only thing the system can replicate is the chat partner's own abilities, not anything the chat partner externally possesses.
Shiller felt as if a dazed spirit had been stuffed into his body. But that wasn't a foreign entity, it was still him. The symbiont hadn't become an entity like Venom that could detach from the host at any moment; it had become a part of Shiller.
Put simply, it had become an ability the system loaded and gave to Shiller, part of Shiller. Like other abilities obtained from the system, it couldn't part from Shiller. If Shiller died, it would die too. It couldn't escape and certainly wouldn't have a second host.
But it also had some characteristics of a symbiont. For instance, it could think. Shiller could feel like a part of his brain had changed. The symbiont became an organ of his brain; their interaction felt more like the conversation between two personalities.
This symbiont truly was unusual. Shiller would later understand that when the God of Symbiotic Body was creating it, he infused more ambitions into it.
After being replicated by the system, to make the symbiont's characteristics integrate with the system's loaded abilities, the system made further modifications to it. This resulted in its conversion into a perhaps unique life-form in the whole cosmos and an incredibly powerful one at that.
