As All Might's words echoed in the silence that followed, everyone in the room held their breaths. Mokami sat quietly, watching the unfolding scene with the same calm demeanor he always had. His grin never wavered, and he said nothing, letting the situation play out without his interference. His silence was a powerful statement in itself - he didn't owe anyone an explanation for his actions, not even someone as formidable as Sir Nighteye.
Sir Nighteye looked shocked, a stark contrast to his previously confident demeanor. His gaze shifted from All Might to Mokami, his expression unfathomable. "That is impossible!" he exclaimed, his voice echoing in the quiet room.
Momo rose from her seat, her eyes flashing. The calm and composed lady that she usually was seemed to have vanished, replaced by a fiercely protective sister. "Why? Because Mokami did something you can't?" Her voice held a challenging edge, her gaze unwavering as she held Sir Nighteye's stare.
The room held its breath, eyes darting between Momo and Nighteye. The confrontation was unexpected, to say the least. Momo was usually calm, reserved even, but her current fiery demeanor was not unwelcome, especially considering the situation.
Just as Sir Nighteye was about to retort, a calm voice cut through the tension. "No, Momo." All eyes turned to Mokami, who until then had remained mostly silent. His voice, soft yet firm, seemed to quell the rising storm. "Because he foresaw All Might's death, and his brain cannot comprehend the existence of an alternative future he cannot fathom."
The room fell into silence at Mokami's words. His gaze met Sir Nighteye's, and for the first time since the man entered the room, Mokami's teasing grin vanished. His eyes were serious, the usual sparkle replaced by an intensity that rivaled the older hero's.
"I don't care about your reputation, or your relation to people inside this room," Mokami began, his voice steady, his gaze never leaving Sir Nighteye. "If you walk into my office once again with that tone, that will be the last time."
The room went quiet at Mokami's words, the air seeming to thicken with the weight of his declaration. This was not the usual playful Mokami they knew; this was a man asserting his authority, a man protecting what was his. Despite the harshness of his words, nobody present could deny that they were warranted.
"L-let's all calm down, shall we?" Midoriya stuttered, looking a little like a deer in the headlights. He glanced nervously from Sir Nighteye to Mokami and then towards the seemingly enraged Mirko.
"Who are you, chicken legs?" Mirko growled, shooting a challenging glare towards Midoriya. His face went through a range of expressions, before settling on utter horror.
"Chicken legs?" Midoriya asked, glancing down at his own legs as if trying to find any resemblance. The tension in the room broke with the giggles from Momo, Nejire, and Sahar. Even Ryukyu, who maintained a stern expression throughout the tense confrontation, shook her head in bemusement.
As the giggles died down, Momo turned to the newcomers. "Please, have a seat," she offered, her tone as formal as ever. "Despite the unpleasant arrival, we wouldn't be bad hosts." Momo waved her hand, and a robot carrying tea cups and a pot of freshly brewed tea wheeled in, placing the cups in front of Sir Nighteye, Midoriya, and Mirio.
The room fell silent, the mood shifting as Mokami began to speak. His voice was steady, his usual playfulness replaced with a serious tone. "The main issue we wanted to discuss today is Kai Chisaki and his Yakuza organization, Shie Hassaikai. Sir Nighteye, I'm aware you've been after them for a while."
Sir Nighteye nodded curtly, the atmosphere still tense. "We've been tracking their movements for months now, but there hasn't been any significant breakthrough. Chisaki is cautious, too cautious."
Momo turned to Mokami, exchanging a brief glance before continuing. "We have an informant within the Yakuza. The information they've gathered may be of use to your investigations, Sir Nighteye."
"Are you suggesting an alliance?" Mirio asked, turning his gaze towards Mokami.
"No. We're informing you that we'll be conducting an operation at Shie Hassaikai's main headquarters. Since you've been pursuing them for some time, it's only ethical to inform you and offer a chance to join us." Mokami's voice was calm, yet firm. His eyes met Sir Nighteye's, steady and resolute. "You should also know that Shie Hassaikai has joined forces with the League of Villains."
For a moment, Sir Nighteye only stared at Mokami, his teeth gritted. The Creation Pantheon Hero Agency was a new organization, yet it was already one of Japan's best. Though Mokami was technically an intern, he had founded the agency and earned the respect of top heroes like All Might, Mirko, Ryukyu, and Sahar. He had the authority to lead, and Sir Nighteye found it hard to swallow his indignation.
"We will join you." Sir Nighteye finally conceded.
"Good," Mokami nodded, his gaze shifting to Nejire who stepped forward to continue the briefing.
"Our informant revealed that the League and Shie Hassaikai are working on a drug they salvaged from Bayen. The same drug that can enhance or destroy quirks, and they're close to completion." Nejire looked around the room, her eyes serious. "We need to tread carefully with this operation, as there's a chance we could lose our quirks."
A ripple of unease spread through the room, tension threading the air. The possibility of losing their quirks – their identity – was terrifying. It was something none of them had ever had to consider.
"So what's the plan?" Mirio broke the silence, trying to keep his tone light despite the somber mood. He was aware of the gravity of the situation, but he also understood the importance of morale in such situations.
"Divide and conquer." Momo stepped in, her gaze meeting each hero in turn. "Our main focus will be to secure the headquarters and prevent any drugs from leaving the premises. Simultaneously, we need to ensure the safety of any captives and neutralize as many of Shie Hassaikai's key members as we can."
"But we'll also need a backup plan," Sahar pointed out. "If things go sideways, we can't risk everyone losing their quirks."
"You're right," Mokami replied, his voice calm but serious. "That's why we'll have a few team members on standby, ready to assist or extract us at a moment's notice."
Momo glanced towards her twin brother, her gaze softening for a moment before she looked back at the rest of the team. "We all need to be prepared for any scenario, understand? It's not just our lives on the line here, but also our identities as heroes."
