Chapter 144: Assassination Attempt V2.0
_________ POV Narration_________
Vladislav Grigorev, the man that hired Alf for the assassination of Nezu, had somewhat expected the shadow wielding assassin to fail.
He knew that the man couldn't be trusted. At least not completely.
So, besides him, Vladislav also spent quite a bit of cash to hire an actual syndicate, one filled with people that knew what they were doing and that would never let their emotions get the better of them.
A group of 10 highly trained assassins. They weren't all that powerful individually, but they were decent enough. As a team though... That was where they shined.
They were well known as 'The Hunters'. A group that rarely failed their missions. And that never lost a member of their own.
They had a track record for never getting captured. Hiring them cost the Grigorev Family a small fortune.
Still, they were made to remain on stand-by while Alf carried out his mission. They only decided to act after seeing Beru kill Alf so easily.
The one watching Beru gave the signal to the rest, they needed to act quickly, since Beru was already alerted.
Killing Nezu became their only priority and they started their plan with the most logical step. Killing the person that was obviously protecting Nezu.
They had hoped that killing the man wouldn't instantly alert Nezu or the person protecting him, but they were still confident in carrying out their plans before anyone else showed up...
And they would've been right... But they somewhat underestimated who they were dealing with. They also didn't know for sure who was protecting Nezu.
Not that they looked down on Nezu, they just had no way of fully knowing what he and Yori had in their sleeves.
That was solely due to Alf deciding to act out of order, forcing them to take action as quickly as possible.
They turned off the power to the entire school, campus and all. They took advantage of the fact that Alf rerouted the backup generators in preparation for his own assassination.
Now, the school defence systems were down. The school was in a complete blackout. The assassins were obviously prepared for this. They all had the equipment to see in the dark.
The second they entered Nezu's office, they realised something was wrong.
The man that had entered first was instantly entangled in a white carbon fibre scarf and smashed into the ground.
In the dark, the assassins could see an eerie pair of red eyes staring at them. Looking behind it, they could see Nezu, the principal was simply sitting down in his chair and looking at them with a smile.
"Oh, the visitors finally showed up! That's great!~" They could hear Nezu's cheery voice, the person that was downed also managed to jump backwards, seemingly dislocating all of his joints at once and escaping the carbon fibre scarf that was entangling him.
Ereaser Head released an annoyed sigh and looked at the assassins with a wary eye.
'This isn't good... The rest of the staff is not present right now...' The underground hero pondered while looking at the people targeting him and Nezu.
He and Nezu were just discussing some matters when the lights went out. It wasn't hard for Nezu to realise that the school was being targeted. Beru had warned him of people attacking UA just recently.
'I could take them on, but I don't know if protecting Nezu while doing that is possible... I also am not sure if I can actually win against them. They all seem to be rather well-trained...' Aizawa examined his enemies while preparing for them to act first.
And act they did. But not in the way Aizawa had hoped.
All of them jumped backwards and threw specially made throwing knives. Dozens of projectiles all aiming for him and Nezu, and Aizawa knew that dodging all of them was improbable.
Instead, he chose to kick up a chair and use it to block the most of them, while manipulating his scarf to catch most of the ones that were going to hit Nezu.
The assassins weren't quite peeved about their current situation, Aizawa's presence turned the attack into a stalemate.
Even though there were 9 of them, they were in an enclosed space, so their number advantage only counted for so much.
Only three of them could enter through the door at the same time, and Aizawa was clearly a capable fighter, one that likely would be able to hold back 3 at the same time.
Still, they couldn't really afford to spend too much time pondering on their next course of action. They needed to act, and fast at that.
Three of them nodded and and went up first, Aizawa squinted his eyes when seeing that.
Fighting a coordinated group was going to be hard, he needed to hold them at the door for as long as possible, otherwise the rest were going to rush in as well.
Two of the men rushed in first, one of them seemed to be turning his hand into some kind of liquid, he only got halfway through doing it when his quirk was stopped and he was smashed into one of his teammates that was trying to punch Aizawa with a strangely shaped fist.
It was as if his hand was made out of diamond, but it was nowhere near that though. Aizawa could see the man's hand crack when he entangled him.
The third man had a different strategy though, jumping above his friends, his legs seemed to be bending like large springs. He turned around in the air as his legs coiled tightly and touched the doorframe.
He was about to spring in Aizawa's direction, but his legs didn't seem to listen to him. Aizawa gazed at the man with his tired red eyes as he proceeded to show the assassin that overreliance on quirks was punishable when fighting a serious opponent.
The Spring Legged Assassin didn't have time to react as his two teammates were thrown into him, all three of them being smashed into the door frame and rolling out the door.
Aizawa looked at the rest with a wary eye, but he didn't expect what came next. On of the men seemed to get an idea. He rushed in and extended his hand.
The assassin came into contact with Aizawa's capture weapon rather quickly, as the underground hero tried to entnagle him as well. But it didn't work quite well.
Aizawa could feel himself losing control of his weapon. The man seemed to be touching the carbon fibre weapon. Aizawa felt it cutting into his palms as it coiled around him and started strangling him.
'Controling fibers! Fuck!' The tired underground hero immediately glared at the villain and turned off his quirk, gaining himsef a breath of air as he struggled against his own tool.
But that breath of air was short-lived, as the rest of the assassins took that opportunity to also enter the room. One of them took out a knife and plunged it into Aizawa's leg.
The hero whinched and blinked, his weapon was back to strangling him soon afterwards.
Aizawa looked around the room with angry eyes. He could feel them closing themselves slowly, he barely had any energy left to use his quirk.
However, looking at Nezu's desk, he realised that he had bought enough time. An unknown figure was just sitting there, and staring at the situation with a bored gaze.
It was a face he knew, but not one he expected to see. But it was clearly a friendly face.
Goda Yori, one of Japan's most controversial figures. Also one of Beru's now known friends. Their relationship stopped being a secret for a while now.
Still, the underground hero wasn't sure just how useful the man was going to be in a fight... Yori was known for his intellect after all... Not for his brawn.
"Such unsavory folk. Barrging in your home and attacking your employee like that." Yori spoke while his fingers turned black, they soon extended and freed Aizawa from his predicament.
The assassins tried to stop him, but they couldn't really do any damage to the fingers. They parted Aizawa form his capture tool and dragged him towards Nezu's desk.
"Rather unfortunate indeed. Good thing you came, it would've been a shame to ruin this perfectly nice office of mine. All Might isn't exactly known for not causing property damage..." Nezu simply combed his fur while speaking in a calm manner.
Yet, Yori could tell that the man/rat/bear/??? was angry. It was pretty clear that he cared about his employees quite a bit.
"I guess he does live here, right? These guys were lucky that he wasn't in the office with you... Or, unlucky rather." Yori simply took off his glasses and looked coldly at the assassins.
"Oh, would you be so kind as to leave them alive? They would all be needed for questioning." Nezu spoke with calm as he checked on the wounds of his subordinate.
"Sure... But they won't really be in a great state..." Yori looked at them with narrowed eyes.
His enemies were about as strong as the one that had beaten him in the past, well, maybe a bit weaker than Geten, the numbers made up for that though. But he was also stronger now...
'I guess I can use this opportunity to test out a few moves... Beru did say that fighting is the best training...'
