Another World Reincarnation Chronicle

Chapter 194

From early morning, the rain fell. Outside the terrace, the sky was thick with gloomy dark clouds, and the oddly lowered warmth in the room along with the humid air put me in a bad mood.

Normally, skilled wizards like Haiven would have used climate control magic to make the rain stop, but today no one was using magic.

Of course, it made sense. All the wizards needed to conserve mana for the massive battle to come.

Last night, after strapping on my packed bag and stepping out of the room, a Nightmare quietly followed me. Usually, it would be clinging and whimpering for attention, but today it was strangely well-behaved.

“Not asking for a hug today?”

With a soft noise, the Nightmare shook its head in disagreement. A small chuckle escaped me at its cute gesture.

The place I headed to was Rain’s room. Judging by the bustling sounds coming from within, she was already up.

I gently knocked on the door.

Knock knock-

[W-who is it?]

A slightly groggy voice with a hint of sleepiness responded.

“It’s me, Seris.”

[Ah, just a moment!]

About five minutes later, Rain opened the door.

“Sorry to keep you waiting!”

“Oh…”

I took a step back upon seeing Rain. She looked slightly different from usual.

While she still wore her adorable pointed hat and thick wizard robe, her long leather belt at the waist caught my attention.

Not only that, but she also had a huge backpack slung over her shoulder, likely stuffed with all sorts of artifacts, given the magical flow I could sense from inside.

“Are you taking that much with you?”

“Is it a bit too much…?”

“Can you run with that on?”

“Hmm. I can.”

Nodding at my question, Rain started jumping around. Despite her nervous appearance, she moved steadily around me.

“Are you all set?”

“Yup! Perfect!”

Well then, it was time to head to Haiven. I made my way to Haiven’s office with Rain.

“Oh, you both woke up earlier than expected.”

Haiven was up early as well. He looked relaxed, sitting at the table piled high with documents, sipping his coffee.

He seemed a bit more carefree than usual, as if he threw off a layer of worries. Haiven extended his coffee cup toward us.

“How about sharing a drink before we set off?”

There was no sugar in the coffee he was drinking. If it were warm cocoa, I would have gladly accepted, but bitter coffee? No thanks.

“I’ll pass.”

“Me too.”

As Rain and I declined the coffee, Haiven smiled faintly and spoke.

“Hmm… It may be the last coffee ever, are you sure you don’t want it?”

“Enough with the ominous remarks. If you’re ready, let’s get going.”

Nobody wanted to hear the cranky old man’s jokes first thing in the morning. Eventually, Haiven was dragged out by Rain.

There was a reason Rain, Haiven, and I woke up early. We needed to transport the supporting troops from various parts of the country to this Mage Tower.

Haiven was the representative wizard of the Mage Tower, while I had my duties as the captain of the Gold Return Ship.

Of course, Rain wasn’t left out. She was in charge of keeping the Nightmare entertained while I was busy.

“It’s an impressive ship every time I see it…”

Haiven gazed in awe at the Gold Return Ship. The strange shapes in his eyes sparkled blue with excitement.

“Let’s get going.”

“Sounds good…”

Our first destination was the Karma Empire. After boarding the Gold Return Ship with everyone, I planted the Golden Sword into the floor.

Boom-!

The power contained in the sword began to resonate with me, granting me control over the massive airship.

Expanding my senses, enhancing my presence, increasing my mana capacity. The journey of transcending from a mere human to a dragon became clearer than ever.

Vroom-!

As the power source released massive mana, the enormous hull began to rise, roaring through the storm.

Fshh-!

We crossed the vast ocean and arrived at the sky above the Karma Empire. Troops were already waiting on the outskirts of the capital to board the airship. I slowly maneuvered the ship toward the waiting soldiers.

From the soldiers of the empire to the adventurers commissioned by the Mage Tower. The exact number was unknown, but it looked to be nearly a hundred thousand at a glance.

Now it was Haiven’s turn to step up. He proceeded outside to talk with the commander leading the troops.

“Shouldn’t we go out as well?”

Rain asked me, gazing outside. At her feet, the Nightmare lay sprawled, snoring. It seemed it had worn itself out playing with Rain.

“I don’t think we need to go out.”

“Hmm…”

Haiven was soon seen boarding the airship along with an immense number of soldiers. Among them, I recognized a few familiar faces.

Celyon, Su, and Shu. Even those I had adventured with on Monster Island.

“Seris!”

Celyon, Su, and Shu happily approached me upon spotting me, but there was no time for leisurely chats.

“We’ll talk later.”

There were still many places we had to go. We needed to transport the troops from the Karma Empire back to the Mage Tower, and then we would set out again. This time, we were heading to the Kingdom of Oblain.

The Kingdom of Oblain had also prepared a significant number of troops. Though they had lost their most considerable power, the Paladin Order, the Priests’ divine power remained a considerable threat to the Undead and Dark Mages.

“Seris!”

Someone recognized me inside the kingdom. A voice that felt oddly familiar. Tilting my head, I looked closely at the man, and faint memories began to surface.

“Foldrin…?”

“You remember me…!”

I had heard that most paladins had died, but it seemed Foldrin was one of the lucky ones who survived.

“It’s been a while… I have so much to say… Seris.”

“Sorry, no time for talks now.”

Once again, I declined to talk. I flew the airship back to the Mage Tower as before. The troops transported this way would board other airships made in the Mage Tower.

“Seris! We must talk…!”

Foldrin’s voice faded away regretfully. I ignored him and set the airship off again.

The next destination after the Kingdom of Oblain was the land of Orcs, Greenfall. I transported troops to the Mage Tower once again, then moved on to Raoum, followed by the Burning Road, and finally to Janghon to transport the people of Dragon’s Blood.

Finally, all preparations were complete. Now, we just needed to head to the Grimshade Kingdom with everyone.

Before launching the Gold Return Ship, I looked out the window. The rain that had been falling since morning had gotten thicker over time.

“Aren’t we leaving?”

“Ah, we should.”

I shook my head in response to Rain’s voice. I seemed to have missed the timing to set off, lost in watching the falling rain.

“We’re departing.”

At the moment the quiet voice echoed out, a multitude of airships rose into the sky with the Gold Return Ship.

Brrrrr-!

Over a hundred airships began to move at once as the mana stones installed inside started to resonate. When the entangled mana became vividly visible, a blue path made of mana stretched across the thickly clouded sky.

Throughout the journey, no one spoke. Not the tower lords of the Mage Tower, nor the gold-ranked adventurers, nor the Orcs willingly sacrificing their lives toward death.

Everyone simply stared nervously at the approaching Grimshade Kingdom.

Over a hundred airships crossed the blue sea toward the end of the world. A place where no one should go, where no one should dare.

To the northern end, the Grimshade Kingdom.

The seemingly endless rain finally stopped, and the clouds in the sky disappeared, yet the surroundings didn’t brighten. Night had arrived.

Throughout the day, I had not caught a glimpse of sunlight even once. I sighed deeply, looking up at the moonlit sky.

As I was gazing at the sky absentmindedly, a sudden blue curtain unfolded at the edge of the empty sky, and a massive magic circle emerged.

This must be the sealing magic of the Grimshade Kingdom that the tower lords had spoken of.

A complete severance, making it impossible to enter or exit. My focused eyes quickly made a judgement. With my current abilities, I couldn’t break through this sealing magic circle.

“I never imagined I’d still be alive to see this seal be activated…”

Stepping forward to break the seal was the old man in a white robe, the Lord of the White Tower. His white hair was as striking as the robe he wore.

Just as the Lord of the White Tower slowly approached and reached out towards the magic circle—

Snap-!

A strange twist in space occurred. The flow of mana originating from his hand shook the very fabric of space. The space contorted, small cracks began to form, and through those gaps, mana surged in, creating a new realm.

“Quick, get in! I can’t keep it open for long!”

The Lord of the White Tower shouted loudly, eyeing the small opening he had created.

Following his words, numerous airships pushed themselves toward the narrow gap. After nearly a hundred ships had passed through, the Gold Return Ship followed.

As it forced its way through the tight space, the hull shuddered violently, but there was no noticeable damage.

“Wow…”

The moment I passed through the sealing magic circle, I gaped in shock at the vast continent unfolding before me.

The Grimshade Kingdom is known as the Land of Death. If it is said to be a land ruled by Dark Mages and Demons, one might imagine sticky swamps, withered trees, old moss, and scattered skulls or altars of Dark Mages.

However, what lay before my eyes easily surpassed that expectation.

The forest was bursting with life, forming a vibrant jungle, and the bright light emitting from within was filled with warmth.
