Another World Reincarnation Chronicle

Chapter 163

The words of Skasha promising death were not mere bluff. Skasha’s airship soared through the sky, unleashing death upon the ground.

Where the Evil Mana brushed past, the dead began to appear without fail. Clad in the belongings or features they had in life, they commenced pouring out infinite hatred towards the living.

“This is…!”

Just when I thought I could catch up, more Undead broke free; it was a never-ending cycle. I had to abandon following the airship and descend to the ground, swinging my sword.

At the moment the Ice Dragon Sword and Fire Dragon Sword crossed, dozens of Skeletons were smashed to bits, rolling on the ground, while the hazy Specters born from the purple Mana were consumed by the flames of the Fire Dragon Sword.

I stood alone, blocking the massive wave crashing towards me. The blade of the Ice Dragon Sword extended, crushing all Skeletons in a straight line.

The white fragments of bones began to scatter into the purple Mana. Following this, the swing of the Fire Dragon Sword unleashed a fierce flame.

Was it always this hard to fight while protecting someone?

Clenching my teeth, I faced the endless army released by Skasha. The two swords tangled chaotically, creating a path of slashes.

– Ugh, Aaaagh!

A scream pierced the moment. I turned slightly to see a Wizard surrounded by a mass of Skeletons. It seemed that their focus on casting magic became their downfall.

The distance was too great. As soon as I realized that, I hurled the two swords I held in my hands.

Ping-!

Two streaks of light shot straight ahead. The fleeting beams of light obliterated the Skeletons surrounding the Wizard. Having served their purpose, the two swords continued to move quickly towards the next target.

Creak—

Skeletons and Specters began to flock around me as I became weaponless. I could handle a lowly Undead with bare hands, but I had another weapon at my disposal now.

Swoosh—

With a haunting sound, a golden blade was drawn. I felt a massive power flowing into my hands.

[Golden Fragrance of Greed]

A twisted authority born from greed for gold. The sword that even the dead Golden Dragon could not release began to awaken its power.

Suuuu—

Golden liquid began to rise from the bag on my back. The droplets coalesced into a definite shape, which soon transformed into forty golden swords.

I instantly swung the golden sword in my hand. Like a conductor directing music, forty golden blades raced forward.

Bam-bam-bam-!

The forty golden strikes raining down from the sky spread out wide upon hitting the ground. At that moment, the dazzling neon lights reflected off the gold brightened the surroundings, and silence followed.

“Hah… Hah…”

Breathing heavily, I inspected my surroundings. The forty golden swords that had dashed through the air and the two linked dragon swords flew back to me.

The undead army summoned by Skasha had vanished. The roads were crumbled, and buildings were ablaze, but there were no casualties.

Gasping for breath, I jumped back into the air on my sword.

Skasha’s airship was not moving very fast. If I followed on my sword, I could catch up soon. However, it seemed Skasha would not allow me to approach easily, relentlessly unleashing his army onto the ground.

But this time, I didn’t descend. I commanded the forty-one swords hovering behind me to unleash long-range attacks.

Kragakagagah-!

The death army revealed on the ground began to get swept away. However, that was not enough. Grasping the bow hidden in my bag, I whispered to the Nightmare concealed within.

“Nightmare.”

Fwoosh—

A rustling sound came in response. At that moment, I felt a small flow of Mana from the bag, and sharp Ice Dragon Arrows began to sprout forth.

Thud-!

Dozens of transparent arrows were completed in no time. I immediately gripped the bundle of arrows and nocked them onto the bowstring.

I did not aim at any specific target. If I fired the arrows like this, they would not fly true. However, the spirit’s power infused in the bow would guide them to the target I desired.

Because it always had.

Bam-bam-bam-!

The moment I released the tightly drawn bowstring, nearly ten arrows were swiftly launched. Before they even reached their target, I drew new arrows and nocked them again.

On first glance, it might appear as though I was indiscriminately raining arrows down on the ground, but each arrow that had left my hand precisely struck the intended targets.

Crack-crack-!

At least two Skeletons fell for each arrow. The Crystal Stone Arrows flew in strange arcs, shattering violently upon impact, blooming bright Crystal Stone flowers around them.

Confirming that the situation on the ground had calmed somewhat, I tightly gripped the golden sword and soared up towards the airship.

But at that moment, a storm of rough Mana erupted from inside the airship, forming a thick Mana Barrier above.

Crack-!

When I touched the barrier, I felt the rough resistance. I frowned, swinging the golden sword.

Kaga-kagak-!

In the situation where most of my Mana had been consumed by restoration magic, I could not attempt a powerful strike. I needed to focus on recovering my Mana before thinking about defeating Skasha.

Then it happened. I sensed a massive flow of Mana from the ground, and countless lights shot up towards the sky.

The Wizards of Trevel had launched their counterattack. The sight of numerous mages bombarding a single target suspended in the air with magic was truly a spectacle.

The problem was that I was within the radius of that bombardment.

Kragagagah-!

Countless spells mercilessly battered Skasha’s Barrier and my body. Every time a small or large magic grazed me, I staggered from the strong shock. On any other day, I would have relied on my high durability and thick Mana Barrier to endure it all, but today was different.

Due to insufficient Mana, the thin Mana Barrier was quickly decimated. I could only frown and huddle up.

Bang! Krakagagah-!

Skasha did not change the direction in which he was flying. It was as if he trusted the Barrier he had created as he continued to maneuver the airship.

The rapidly advancing massive vessel was approaching the tall castle over the central city. It seemed they intended to crash the airship into the castle without slowing down.

An inexplicable ominous feeling passed through my mind. Why was he flying towards the center of Trevel without any hesitation?

Just then, I dealt with the entire army of death summoned by Skasha. I summoned all the swords hovering in the air.

The first to arrive were the Ice Dragon Sword and the Fire Dragon Sword. The two swords that approached from behind began to spin quickly, absorbing the surrounding Mana.

I took a slow breath. To prevent the clash between Skasha’s airship and the central castle of Trevel, I needed to shatter this barrier first.

Currently unable to use magic, the strongest strike I could muster was to conjure an Aura Blade and deliver a single slash.

Feeling the Mana rising quickly thanks to the Ice Dragon Sword and the Fire Dragon Sword, I utilized the authority contained within the golden sword to revert the forty golden swords to a liquid state.

The molten gold began to cling to my body. The golden scales began to form.

Every part of my body was enveloped, from the horns sprouting above my head to the tail growing beneath my backside. What began to take shape over my body was a golden armor in the form of a Dragon.

As every part of my body became surrounded by gold, I concentrated all my Mana into the sword in my hand.

This was no ordinary gold. The armor made from the body of a Dragon blocked all magic directed at me.

I poured even the minimal Mana I had previously been using for defense into the sword. The golden Mana elongated from the intensely heated golden sword.

Skasha, sensing the massive flow of Mana, began to reveal himself. Made of purple Mana, he glared at me with his crimson eyes.

[That figure… Could it be the child of a Dragon?]

“Just a Human.”

Another misunderstanding about my origins had begun. Of course, I had no intention of correcting Skasha’s misinterpretation. Lowering my stance, I focused all my awareness on swinging the sword.

Kiiing-!

The sound of the Mana Circle spinning grew louder, and hot red flames rose from the golden sword.

Whoosh-!

That was the signal. Skasha expelled rough Mana, attempting to attack as if determined to somehow penetrate the central castle of Trevel. But that was it. I swung the sword in my hand hard, trusting in the body of the Golden Dragon that enveloped me.

Slice-!

Unlike before, the purple Barrier began to dissolve as if being burned away. Just as Skasha urgently summoned more Mana to create a new Barrier and summoned more Undead, my sword pressed on relentlessly.

Kalbain’s Mana signifies destruction. When hot flames are concentrated in one spot, their power intensifies, incinerating everything that stands in their way.

As the purple Mana Barrier crumbled, Skasha’s figure was torn apart by the red blade. The sword did not stop moving forward. It sliced through the deck of the airship, penetrating into the cabin.

Nonetheless, the blade kept moving. The moment I discovered Skasha’s Magic Book, which formed the core of the airship and the Magic Circle, it began to trace a peculiar trajectory.

What unveiled itself was a crimson flash. Where the sword had passed, a blazing sun was drawn.

Whoosh!

Everything was scattered. The airship, having lost its power source, plunged down, and the black ashes were swept away by the wind.

[It was an amusing experience… I do not look forward to our next meeting.]

Inside the burning, disintegrating Magic Book, the swiftly turning pages briefly revealed Skasha’s figure before vanishing. I did not reply, merely swinging my sword.

Swoosh-!

The red blade perfectly sliced through the Magic Book, erasing Skasha’s form. The pitch-black ashes sprinkled and colored the surroundings.
