Another World Reincarnation Chronicle

Chapter 103

“Th-that’s…!”

“They’ve taken control of the magic…?”

“What’s that behind you?”

The voices of the surrounding spectators were drowned out by the sound of the circle spinning.

I aimed my sword at Leonis, surrounded by the starlight that filled the area. Surprisingly, the onlookers were more astonished than the one whose magic had been taken. Leonis quickly regained his breath, just like before.

“Were you hiding your strength?”

That was Leonis’s question. His tightly shut mouth finally opened. So he was hiding his power? No, I had merely come here and tried out a new type of magic.

I shook my head silently.

Despite lacking a medium such as dragon scales, I was able to create an external mana circle thanks to the flow of mana I had observed inside the Mage Tower. It was a law of utilizing mana to dominate space itself.

The preparation stage for teleportation magic.

I applied that principle. As a result, the mana circle floating behind me maintained its form without dispersing.

Screeeech-!

The moment the blue circle behind me began to spin rapidly, the stars around me sparkled even brighter. Everything in the vicinity felt like inspiration flowing towards me. Even the breath of Leonis, who was fighting me at that moment.

Crash!

Leonis began his advance. Unlike before, he didn’t use Magic Missile. It seemed he had used all his spare mana for body enhancement and mana shield reinforcement.

The moment Leonis’s body entered my range, the numerous stars hovering around spread wide. It seemed Leonis was avoiding the starlight as if aware of my Magic Missile, but that wasn’t my target.

I took a calm breath. The starlight floating around would serve as a barrier to protect me and guide my path.

Though it was my first time using this magic, I was certain. Just as I had been from the beginning.

I started lightly, with a cautious motion. Leonis’s powerful fist came flying toward me. The trajectory aimed at my face was clear. The mana coalescing in his hand was immense, so avoiding it was the right choice.

However, I took a step forward instead. I was confident that his attack wouldn’t be able to harm me.

And that confidence soon became reality.

Just before Leonis’s fist made direct contact with my face, a distortion in space began instantaneously. At the same time, the stars scattered around began to flicker.

A momentary flash of light.

In the next instant, my body was standing behind Leonis.

The shortest distance teleportation magic.

Blinked.

As it was still at a toddler level of magic, continuous use was impossible. However, it was enough for now. Knowing I would advance forward, I wasn’t in a hurry, understanding that endlessly growing was my talent.

“Grrk…!”

Leonis’s pale expression as he hurriedly turned to look behind him was revealed. It was clear he hadn’t anticipated I would use teleportation-type magic.

It’s not easy to implement a magic composed of short texts into this world. A definitive image was needed, one so clear it carved itself into my mind. Magic that instantly jumps over long distances using mana—teleportation.

I didn’t understand. Unlike the clear images of fire and ice, magic related to space always possessed a hazy impression.

Thus, I didn’t rely on memories from my previous life. Why cling to those memories when the answer sheet was clearly floating right in front of me?

“Teleport…?”

“Could it be, the magic of Haiven…!”

“Did you use an artifact? Or a scroll…?”

The gasps of the spectators slowly dispersed, mixed with disbelief. They were correct. I had referenced Haiven’s magic and rebirthed it to fit my own body.

Although I couldn’t move across long distances in an instant like Haiven, the principle was the same.

Clang!

The swiftly swung sword struck Leonis’s body. Even with the blade drawn, his clothes didn’t tear, and no wounds remained. The mana shield protecting his body was strong.

“Grrk!”

Leonis groaned briefly and began to retreat. I directed the starlight towards the retreating Leonis. The shimmering starlight began to rotate and surround his body.

Wherever the light of the stars touched was a space under my control. He couldn’t easily escape.

Screeeech-!

The moment the mana circle behind me started to spin again, I had moved once more behind Leonis. Simultaneously, the star that had been sparkling behind him lost its light and disappeared.

One movement per star. As the weakened star scattered into particles, I swung my sword once again.

Seven stars rose above the extended blade. Right afterward, Leonis reacted.

Clang-!

The clash of sword and fist echoed. The powerful pressure from the collision of distinct mana burst forth, sending me back with immense recoil.

His response was faster than before.

Did he notice my approach using Blink? How?

In that moment, I confirmed that Leonis’s gaze was fixed on the mana circle spinning behind me.

The sound of rotation, the sound of rotation. To use Blink, I needed to spin the mana circle and resonate with the starlight mana encompassing the area. Leonis had clearly reacted to that sound.

This was rather good. If he was concentrating on the sound, it meant he was amplifying his hearing through mana. As I attempted to widen the distance, Leonis lunged towards me.

A sprint towards the opponent in a straight line, the shortest distance. Mana was released from under Leonis’s feet, accelerating his speed further.

Just before his fist came flying toward me, I swung my sword and struck the stars floating nearby.

Ting-!

The sword colliding with the star began to wail. What had been a faint noise amplified its presence by absorbing the surrounding mana.

[Krurur…]

Leonis’s body stiffened at the sound that erupted from the sword. However, he didn’t fall. Rather, he began moving again, as if to whip himself back into action.

I caught a glimpse of his pale expression as he abruptly came to a halt. He wouldn’t be feeling comfortable. I swung my sword again and struck a new star.

Thud-! Bam-!

A series of echoes erupted. The dragon’s roars resonated and intertwined, echoing from all directions.

“Cough-!”

At that moment, Leonis coughed up a trickle of blood. He staggered as if he couldn’t properly maintain his balance, and the mana shield covering him had also dimmed.

Leonis, with his pale face, fumbled through his robe in a panic. It was clear he was trying to pull out an artifact, just like when he fought the past me.

But there was no way that would happen. According to the rules of the tournament, mages weren’t allowed to bring anything other than their staff.

It seemed Leonis realized that fact too, as he stopped his actions. As if sensing his imminent demise. When his calm gaze met mine.

My body moved in sync with the sparkling starlight toward him. As the starlight mana coiled around my extended arm, Leonis’s mouth opened faster than my hand.

“I concede.”

The movement abruptly halted. I had no choice but to scatter the starlight that had gathered in my palm. Leonis’s eyes were closed, and he had raised both hands slightly, as if he had given up any will to fight.

“Winner! Tower of Dawn, Seris!!!”

Though it was a somewhat lackluster conclusion, I gained a lot during the match. I sheathed the sword I held. At that moment, the mana circle behind me shattered, and the starlight that had filled the area vanished in an instant.

“Was that the magic of Haiven…?”

“Haiven’s magic is silent. Like the gently approaching wind. It’s not so flashy.”

“Then whose magic was that? I’ve lived in the Mage Tower my whole life and have never seen such magic…?”

“Beautiful.”

“That’s insane… Where do I apply for a change of affiliation?”

As I stepped down from the ring, the voices of the spectators gradually grew louder. Among the murmurs, I spotted Rain’s gaze. I waved lightly and ran over to him.

*

It goes without saying, but winning against Leonis didn’t mean I had won the tournament. A series of big and small matches followed, and I was able to reach the finals after defeating all my opponents.

And now, the final match was set to begin at the arena.

As it was the last match, most of the mages affiliated with the Mage Tower gathered here.

“Who do you think will win?”

“I bet my Mana Stone on the Starlight!”

“While Seris is a talented newcomer, Klaus…”

Leaving behind the voices and gazes of the spectators, I moved slowly. As I approached the ring, the referee nodded, having confirmed my identity.

“Tower of Dawn! Seris!”

Upon hearing my name announced, I stepped onto the ring, and the opponent’s name was called out.

“White Tower’s Klaus!”

At the referee’s announcement, my opponent began to step up from across the ring. The man cloaked in white robes held a heavy-looking staff.

His gaze, settled calmly through his gray hair, flew toward me. He opened his mouth, looking at me.

“I will go all out.”

I nodded slightly. I had the same intention to compete at full strength from the start.

Klaus, a name that had echoed throughout the tournament. The closest figure to the titleholder. A genius unparalleled in this world.

It was my first time facing him. I swallowed hard. Klaus was a typical wizard who preferred long-range bombardment. He began preparing his magic while utilizing the preparation time.

Rumble-!

A massive surge of mana began to stir, as a white glow gathered within the staff.

“Crazy…”

I broke into a sweat at the sight. If this weren’t a tournament, I would have rushed in and swung my sword before he concentrated his mana.

Why did such a short preparation time feel so prolonged? I bit my lip, watching the referee.

After an eternity of a moment passed, the referee finally spoke.

“Begin…!”

Before his words even finished, I was already in motion. My rapidly moving body was driven by the feeling of urgency, while the mana circle behind my heart spun swiftly, extracting mana.

Right as I drew the sword behind my back to swing it.

Boom-!

At the moment Klaus’s staff slammed against the ground, a burst of white light erupted. His mana began to envelop the surroundings.

The wizards crowding the area vanished, and a pure white sky rose. At the same time, endless white land stretched out, and colossal castle walls shot up.

The space itself was overlaid into another’s world. I suddenly felt the unmoving mana and blankly stared at my opponent before me.

Slowly, very slowly, Klaus opened his mouth.

Inner World Manifestation

White Citadel

The moment white light filled my vision.

I found myself outside the ring.

“Uh…?”

My stupid voice trickled out slowly. At that moment, the referee’s voice boomed.

“Winner!!! White Tower’s Klaus!!!”
