Volume 2 Chapter 33: I Fumbled!
Volume 2 Chapter 33: I Fumbled!
"How much longer till we arrive at the capital?" Derek questioned. It has been a few days since they left Baron Stillwell's home. It was the usual. They camped outside and rode on the carriage.
William smiled, "There's no need to be so hasty. We're almost there."
While Derek moped around in the carriage, Keith was on Barton. He was beside the carriage, "Derek, how about you ride a horse like me. It's fun!"
Barton was a great horse. He knew when to slow down and watch for branches.
And he was quick!
He was an intelligent horse. Knowing that Fira and Mir were on him, Barton was even more careful.
"And today is a great day as well!" There was a great breeze as he rode. It was perfect.
"I don't think I can."
"Hmm? Why not?"
"I don't have your superpower." Derek knew if he got onto one of the horses, he would be launched off a second later.
"Really?" Keith looked at Barton and the other horses, "I don't think they're bad."
"Ngeh!" Barton screamed out. Keith smiled. As they continued on, Aria flew back down onto his shoulders,
"Ho."
"You see something?" Keith looked forward.
He turned to William, "Father, I can see the city!" He could see the shadows of the capital!
"We have arrived." The carriage started to get closer to it. It didn't take long before they saw a giant wall.
"Please show us your identification." One of the guards stated. William nodded as he handed something to the guards.
The guards nodded and bowed, "It's an honor to meet you, Marquis Freed!"
"Mmhmm." William nodded, and the carriage was allowed to enter the capital. Keith had an excited look as he looked around. His eyes sparkled as he was amazed at how beautiful it was.
It was different from the town. While Keith marveled at the sight,
"It's been a while since I've been here," William stated with a sigh.
"I think it's been 10 years now." Sophia gave a more specific idea.
Derek was surprised when he heard that.
William shrugged, "That's because we don't have a mansion in the capital. And we don't need to come here."
Most nobles with a rank of Count or higher would have a mansion in the royal capital. William was one of the few who didn't have one. He found it a hassle.
"I prefer resting in a relaxing place rather than a place filled with nobles," William commented with a cold look.
Sophia nodded, "It's too much trouble for us."
I see. Keith questioned, "Mother, will we meet with grandfather and grandmother?" The place they were staying at was Sophia's parent's home.
That would make them Keith's maternal grandparents.
"Mmhmm. We're going there first. This will be the first time meeting with them, Keith." Keith had never met with them before.
"Okay!"
"Kid, how about you get off Barton and let me ride him now." Every time Keith rode Barton, Michael would sit next to the coachmen.
It was embarrassing now.
"Eh?"
Keith tilted his head, "But I think Barton likes me more."
"..."
"Okay, okay. Don't be mad. I was joking." Keith got up from Barton and entered the carriage. Michael nodded as he jumped back onto Barton. But,
"Ngeh!" Barton started to jump and kick back! Come on?! Michael didn't know what to say about this! He wanted to cry from this.
Maybe I should get another horse?
That was what he thought. It didn't take long to arrive at an estate. It was grand. It might even be larger than the one he lived in.
The gates opened, and they were brought in. Sophia smiled, "Let's go in now, Son."
"Mmhmm." Keith nodded as they got out. There were two people waiting for them outside.
It was a couple.
"It's been a while, Sophia." The lady was the first one to greet them. She was the spitting image of Sophia. She looked a bit older. But only by a few years.
"It's been a long time, Mother." Sophia smiled when he saw her. She continued,
"Father, you haven't changed a bit." Next to Camelia was a middle-aged man. He had blond hair and golden eyes.
"Mmhmm." Sophia's father, Lionel, nodded. He turned to Derek,
"Derek, it's been a while since I've last seen you."
"Greetings, Grandfather." Derek nodded his head. Lionel had a light look, but then he turned over to Keith.
The child had taken a half step back from the rest of the group.
Keith was anxious.
Camelia eyed Keith as well. Seeing the two grandparents staring at him, Sophia gently nudged him.
Keith nodded as he shouted, "Hello! My name is Keith! It's a pweasure to meet you, Grandfawther, Grawndmother!"
"..." There was pure silence.
I fumbled!
