Volume 2 Chapter 32: Don’t Every Say That’s Your Horse
"..." "..." There was only silence at the training ground.
Jack was clearly outmatched. But they didn't think Keith would end him with one move! Derek and Michael nodded their heads.
Little Brother is so cool!
That's my disciple!
"How?" Jack was still in disbelief that he was defeated like that. He didn't want to accept it.
"You lost because you didn't practice at all."
"Huh?"
"You lacked stamina at the end. And your moves were predictable." Keith stated calmly.
Jack jumped around like a madman, trying to take him out with one blow. But that drained his stamina.
"And your form had too many flaws.
What was more, it was clear Jack didn't practice at all. His form was sloppy, and his moves were sluggish. He probably used his physical prowess to take everyone out.
But when he faced someone like Keith, there was no way he could win.
"It's okay to be prideful. But you have to back it up with skills."
"..." Jack didn't say anything. Keith didn't say anything either as he walked toward the group.
"Thank you for saying those words, Keith." Ryan thanked him.
Keith shook his head, "It's fine. To be honest, I think I was a little too harsh on him."
"No, it was perfect. Jack needs to face reality." Ryan sighed as he added,
"Can you help my daughter with her training too?"
"Sure." Keith didn't mind.
He turned to Sarah, who shouted, "Best regards!"
"Mmhmm." Keith nodded as he started to practice with Sarah. While he was doing that,
"You're youngest is really mature. It's like I'm talking with an adult." Ryan laughed.
"He's the most sensible out of everyone." William laughed. He realized it a long time ago.
Keith acted mature for his age.
...
The sparring lasted a few hours. But it was time to set off again. When they were about to leave,
"Please come again when you have time."
"Mmhmm." William nodded.
"Can we write, Keith?" Sarah asked.
"Sure, I don't mind." Sarah's expression brightened.
"Hey." It was Jack's turn, "Can I face you again?"
"Hmm?"
"I want to face you again. But I can't right now. Not as I am." Jack stated.
"Alright." Keith smiled. Jack also let out a smile. There was no need to say anything as the carriage set off again.
Keith didn't think much about it. But Sophia held her head, "It seemed my son charmed a lady."
"Did I?" Keith questioned.
"Yes. Yes, you did. Do you not understand how cute you look?" Sophia could see it in Sarah's eyes.
Keith shrugged, "It might just be puppy love." Keith noticed how Sarah looked at him as well. But he knew it was probably a phase.
"..." No one said a thing. But then Keith asked,
"Mother, am I abnormal?"
"Hmm? Why do you ask that?
"That's because I'm taller than most children my age." Keith realized it. He was taller than Jack and Sarah.
Jack was the same age as him. But he was about half a head shorter than him!
That was a surprise.
Keith was about the same height as Derek as well! William explained, "That's because we live in a colder region. Because of that, you might be taller than others."
"I see!" Keith clapped his hands together. It was the Bergmann's Rule. The colder the region, the larger the species would be. Derek questioned,
"How much longer are we going to travel?"
"A few more days." "Alright."
Keith looked out the window and saw that Barton had come next to the carriage,
"Barton, here." Keith handed a carrot to the horse.
Barton happily ate it as he licked Keith's face afterward.
"No problem. Glad you like it."
"Kid, you're going to take my horse away." Michael shook his head.
"No way. Barton likes you a lot. You don't have to worry about anything." Keith shrugged him off. But,
"Ngeh!" Barton flicked his mane, slapping Michael in the face! Michael's eyes were twitching as he stared at Keith. Are you sure, kid?! It doesn't seem that way for me!
"...Kid, how about you ride Barton?"
"Really?!" Keith's eyes brightened. He turned to Sophia,
"Can I, Mother?"
"Go for it." Hearing that, Michael jumped off his horse and onto the carriage, sitting next to the coachman.
"Alright!" Keith was going to ask for the carriage to stop. But there was no need to. Barton lowered his head, letting Keith jump on his back.
"I'm off!" Keith didn't wait as he jumped onto the horse.
"Keith, don't get too far away from us, okay?" Sophia reminded the child.
Keith nodded, "Understood! Let's go, Barton!" Keith held onto his leash, and Barton set off!
Barton was like a bolt of lightning as he ran!
"Yahoo!" Keith screamed as he rode Barton. He was happy and excited.
William looked at his son and the horse. Turning to Michael, "Has he ever gone that fast for you?"
"...Don't ask."
"...I see." William shook his head,
"Don't ever say that's your horse."
"..." Michael had the darkest expression of his life! And he had no retort to that!
