Upon realizing this, Qi Yue felt a sudden enlightenment. The meridians he initially saw as chaotic no longer seemed elusive. Within the circulation of the four-colored energy, he could sense a profound principle, which involuntarily enthralled his mind.
The voice of the Xie Zhi sounded again, "What you see now can only be seen by you alone, but I can sense from your heart that you have understood something. As your shadow, I can only show you these scenes three times. Hence, you must firmly remember these within the three opportunities before you can start practicing. This is the first time. Now, I will start transforming. The methods of using Kylin's power and cultivating it are both equally important, you must watch carefully."
The constantly shifting figures and the Kylin form in front of Qi Yue gradually disappeared. Then, nine large characters appeared before Qi Yue's eyes, which are the Nine-character True Words. Following this, another human form emerged, but this time it wasn't static. As the nine characters magnify one by one, the human form also changes correspondingly, along with the meridians inside the body.
Witnessing all these, Qi Yue dared not slacken his attention. Although he did not fully understand, he did his best to etch these scenes into his mind.
Immersed in the ceaselessly radiating lights and shadows, Qi Yue had no sense of time. It was only when those lights and shadows eventually disappeared and the voice of the Xie zhi reappeared, that everything in front of him returned to normal — Qi Yue found himself back in his vacant space.
"As the Kylin King, Mo Kirin, not only do you possess the powers I mentioned, but also two abilities that no other Kylins can compare to. Firstly, you possess a self-healing ability. The healing power of the Kylin clan itself is already very strong, but the healing ability of Mo Kirin is several times stronger. In some sense, it is almost impossible to kill a Mo Kirin. Of course, this is only valid after you have truly obtained the powers of Mo Kirin. Even now, your self-healing ability is extremely formidable since it has been triggered by the true Kylin Bloodline. The greatest aspect of this supreme healing ability manifests in the application of the Kylin Arm. I have described to you the power of Kylin Arm's attack. Ordinary Kylins can only use the true Kylin Arm's attack once in their lifetime, because once they release all the energy of the Kirin Single Horn, the horn will disappear, and their lives reach their end. However, Mo Kirin is an exception among all Kylins. Although using the Ultimate Kirin Arm makes Mo Kirin very weak, it doesn't die. With time, the Kirin Single Horn of the Mo Kirin can be reborn."
Qi Yue was startled, and said, "Does that mean, no matter how powerful the enemy is, as long as I release my Ultimate Kirin Arm, I can fully kill the enemy and my Single Horn can grow back. Isn't this equivalent to being invincible? What's the point of cultivating then?"
Xie Zhi said: "Of course not. The world is balanced. Although Mo Kirin is a strong species, it's also restricted. For people like you who do not own basic Kylin abilities yet, even though you can grow a new horn after using the Ultimate Kirin Arm, it takes five hundred years. Keep in mind, the life of a Kylin is only about fifteen hundred years. The stronger the Mo Kirin, the shorter the time it takes for the horn to recover after using it. In other words, the only difference between you and ordinary Kylins after using the Ultimate Kylin Arm is that you can survive. But in the long period of weakness, all the self-healing powers are concentrated in the Kylin Horn, making your body very fragile. You can be killed by creatures far weaker than you at any time. Therefore, whether it is a Kylin or the Kylin King, they would not easily use their Kylin Arms unless it's the last resort. You must remember this."
Although Qi Yue was somewhat disappointed, he had to accept that it is the balance of nature. He nodded and said, "And what is the other special ability of the Mo Kirin?"
Xie Zhi said: "The other special ability is very mysterious. I know it exists, but I do not know what it specifically represents. Every generation of Kirin King after their birth has this special ability. As far as I know, it seems that every generation of Kirin King has different special abilities. You'll understand it only once you gradually become stronger through cultivation."
Qi Yue took a deep breath and said, "I see. It seems that I have to rely on my own efforts for everything."
Xie Zhi said: "Don't rush with cultivation. Possessing the Kylin Bloodline means you have the best aptitude a human can have in this world. As long as you move forward step by step, you can definitely become the true King among the Zodiac Guardians. I will go into hibernation. From now on, unless you wake me up when you need me, I will not wake up. Do you need me to help you activate the method of cultivation in your bloodline the next time you practice?"
Qi Yue shook his head and said, "Not for now. If I watch it three times in a row, perhaps I will have a deeper memory. However, even if their memory is deeper, if I don't understand, there will be flaws. I intend to practice for a while first. When I encounter some confusion and questions in the process of practicing, I will watch it for the second time. By doing so, I will remember more profoundly and learn more."
Xie Zhi gave an approving nod and said: "You're now striving towards the direction of being a Kylin. Goodbye, my master."
Qi Yue sunk into deep contemplation, not shaken by Xie Zhi's departure. His mind was overwhelmed by the dreamlike memories of those moments, sifting through them, sorting out the seemingly chaotic strings of thought, pondering how to cultivate his abilities.
The knock on the door jolted Qi Yue out of his contemplation. Only then did he realize that daylight had broken through.
"Qi Yue, you have class today, right?" Ming Ming's voice echoed from outside the door.
Qi Yue leaped out of bed, feeling suddenly dizzy and groggy, "Alright, I'm coming out." Having not slept all night and spent most of his time deep in thought and memory, was quite a burden for someone who rarely put his mind to such use.
Wearing the clothes he'd worn yesterday, Qi Yue stretched out his body before stepping out of the room. As soon as he opened the door, he was hit by a wave of potent fragrance. He sniffed the air a couple of times and saw a lavish breakfast laid out on the dining table. Xu Qing and Shen Yun had already started eating.
Shen Yun smiled and said, "Eat with us."
Quickly shaking his head, Qi Yue said, "No, I'd better eat in the cafeteria." He promptly ducked into the restroom, washed his face and grabbed his books before sprinting out of the dormitory.
Watching Qi Yue's retreating silhouette, Xu Qing grunted, "What a coward. This guy is afraid even to eat with us."
Shen Yun commented, "He seems quite harmless though. Were you scaring him yesterday with that covenant of yours?"
Xu Qing chuckled and said, "Who knows! He deserves it anyway, for deciding to live in our girls' dorm."
"What covenant!" Ming Ming came out of the room, sat down by the table, and began eating unabashedly.
After Xu Qing briefly explained the covenant she imposed on Qi Yue, the girls exchanged glances and started laughing. However, they laughed for different reasons. Ming Ming was amused at how her roommates saw Qi Yue as harmless when she knew they had no idea what was coming.
After finishing breakfast, Qi Yue stopped a few Qingbei students for directions and eventually found where his philosophy course was being conducted on the enormous campus. He arrived just in time for class, not late at all, all thanks to Ming Ming's timely reminder. He didn't scan the classroom for beautiful women as he typically would. Feeling fatigued from his reflective night, he carelessly found a seat towards the back, put his book on the desk, laid his head down, and fell asleep.
Though the classroom was expansive, it wasn't particularly full. From 200 possible students, only around thirty were enrolled in philosophy. Therefore Qi Yue's arrival failed to get everyone's attention - he wasn't particularly handsome or interesting. The other students continued chatting, ignoring the newcomer who was already catching some Z's by the time he walked in.
When the bell rang signaling the start of lectures, the classroom quieted down significantly as a middle-aged teacher in his fifties entered. Unluckily, the loud noise couldn't wake Qi Yue, who was comfortably dozing off. Eating a good meal and then sleeping – truly a splendid thing.
