Chapter 187 - Uncle Li Thought Highly of Her
Chapter 187: Uncle Li Thought Highly of Her
When she’s done posting, Lin Yin sent her a message, “is CEO Feng really a good man now?”
Gu Chu was pleased. “Of course, I taught him well.”
When the elevator reached the business department, the door opened. Before Gu Chu could walk in, there was a round of applause. “Good morning, CEO Gu.”
Gu Chu blinked. “Everyone knows?”
The secretary came back a week earlier than her. She raised her hand and said, “Of course. I told everyone as soon as I came back, so now the entire company knows.”
Her colleagues applauded enthusiastically again. “Congratulations on your promotion, director.”
Gu Chu smiled. “I’ll treat all of you to afternoon tea.”
The colleagues cheered again.
The elevator door opened again and Uncle Li appeared. “Ahem.”
Everyone immediately stopped laughing. Gu Chu called out, “Director Li.”
Uncle Li did not smile. “You’re quite happy?”
Gu Chu: “…”
How was she supposed to answer that?
Uncle Li pressed the button for the floor. “Gu Chu, come with me to the office.”
Gu Chu had no choice but to go.
The secretary kept quiet. “Are we too happy? Will it cause trouble for the director?”
Another colleague shook his head. “Who knows… Director Li has always disliked our director.”
Actually, Gu Chu thought the same way. She already thought of a way to deal with him.
She was just going with the flow.
Unexpectedly, Uncle Li poured her a glass of water and handed it to her. A smile appeared on his stern face. “Why are you so nervous? Have you forgotten how you used to talk to me?”
He referred to the time when Gu Chu had just joined the company. He was the one who took care of her.
At that time, she was arrogant and unruly. When she disagreed with him, she would never back down and fight him to the end.
Therefore, they were not too close. Mr. Gu also had a headache because of this.
A year later, she signed a big contract alone. Only then did Mr. Gu let her take charge of the business department.
After Gu Chu became independent, she knew what she had done wrong, so she said a little awkwardly, “I was young and reckless.”
Uncle Li raised his eyebrows. “It’s only been a year, and you’re not young anymore?”
Gu Chu simply asked, “Director Li, why are you looking for me?”
Uncle Li put down his cup. “Last time, when Gu Wan reported that you forged a contract, I questioned you, but it wasn’t personal.”
Gu Chu paused.
“At that time, I believed her. You were half my disciple, so I felt very bad that you’d make such a mistake.”
Uncle Li patted her shoulder and smiled, which was rare. “This time, you’re promoted to vice president. Do your best, President Gu, you’re worthy of the title.”
Gu Chu smiled and even changed the way she addressed him. “Thank you, Uncle Li.”
“Your father will make an official announcement at the board meeting on Monday.”
When Gu Chu heard this, she instantly looked forward to it.
Uncle Li also said, “I’m going to meet an important client this afternoon. Come with me and let everyone meet the new president of the Gu Corporation.”
Gu Chu agreed readily.
In the afternoon, Gu Chu went out with Uncle Li.
The place where they met the client was a famous old teahouse in Haicheng City. Apart from introducing her to the client, Uncle Li also taught her some things, which benefited her a lot.
The teahouse had stairs on each side. They came down from the left, and two people came down from the right.
One of them looked over and quickly said, “Oh my, that seems to be Director Li of the Gu Corporation. CEO Feng, do you mind if I go and say hello?”
Feng Jia stopped in his tracks and looked up to see Gu Chu.
She was wearing something different from what she wore when she went out in the morning. Perhaps she was going to meet a client, so she changed into a more professional outfit.
“Of course not,” Feng Jia said gently, “Let’s go together.”
That person called out, “Director Li.”
Uncle Li looked up. “Director Qiao.”
Director Qiao walked over with a smile and shook hands with Uncle Li. “What a coincidence. I just saw you from behind.”
“It is.” Uncle Li gestured to Gu Chu. “Let me introduce you to our new President Gu.”
Director Qiao looked at Gu Chu and thought that she was beautiful. He had thought that she was his secretary. “President Gu?”
“She’s the daughter of CEO Gu and is about to become the vice president of the company. There will be many opportunities to meet her in the future,” Uncle Li said. “I hope you will take care of her in the future.”
Director Qiao came to a sudden realization and shook hands with Gu Chu. “President Gu looks so young. She’s really like her father.”
He thought of Feng Jia and turned to look at him. “This is CEO Feng. Do you know him?”
Gu Chu looked over and smiled. “We’re quite close.”
