Chapter 27- Sad Haru…
"I am sorry about yesterday, Rio-san. And thank you for the help once again."
Reaching the classroom, Haruto found the silver-haired beauty diligently working on her stuff, ignorant about his arrival or the people around her. Haruto was yet again dazed for a moment, seeing how serious and cool she seems whenever she focuses on something.
People say that men look handsome when they are focused on their work but it was sometimes applicable to some women as well.
Since there were not many sociable people in his class, Haruto has yet to talk to anyone other than Rio, counting his first classmate acquaintance he could rely on if some situation arises. So it was better he apologized for the sudden shift of events of yesterday.
Rio snatched her gaze away from the screen before realizing that it was the same boy who was in the spotlight yesterday.
Truth be told, Rio was a person who likes to remain alone and keep herself far away from troubles and avoid attention in class. Though she respects the student council president because of her grades and mature aura, knowing that the boy was acquainted with Akira made Rio slightly cautious toward him.
But now when he was politely offering the apology, there was no way she would ignore him by forgoing her manner.
"It's okay, don't sweat it. I was just startled since it was the first time in three years that the president called out for me."
Haruto was a bit surprised but not much. Considering, how Akira has grown up after she disappeared from his life or how he has seen her behaving the past ten days, speaks a lot about her changes which inevitably caused because of him.
In the past, there was no one who didn't have a friendly relationship with her. Akira had a helpful nature and her aura oozed with kindness. Though she wasn't particularly talkative, that doesn't prove that Akira was some kind of strict unapproachable ojou, like she was now.
It was her inside and outside beauty that charmed Haruto and made him confess his feelings for her. And that confession led to so many changes that if possible Haruto would definitely change, without thinking even for a bit.
But now he could only sigh and continue with life.
"Ah, Rio-san. Can you please forward me your short notes? I noticed yesterday that you are quite perceptive and attentive in class and you even noted the details which the professor spoke in between words. Sure I can help you with anything in return, like writing assignments or something?"
Rio's hands were paused from whatever she was doing since she felt surprised to realize that Haruto was actually paying that much attention to her notes. It was creepy in a way as well.
It was not that it was the first time people have asked her for favors regarding this subject and since she has responded to them positively, Rio had no problem doing the same for Haruto as well.
"I will send it to your mail, and in return, please don't disturb me until it's really necessary, okay?"
Haruto was slightly sad to hear her request since he thought to have at least one friend in class with whom he could sometimes talk, but well, since she was not liking his company, Haruto was not going to force himself.
"I understand, Rio-san. I will not disturb you and thank you for the notes in advance."
Although subtle, Rio was able to feel the slight sorrow and disappointment in Haruto's voice which made her once again pause. This time she herself didn't know the reason why she felt this stimulation.
She slowly turned her gaze toward the boy, to quell her curiosity about why he affected her in such a way, but all she found was him writing something down in his notebook with a serene expression.
She looked at him for a good three seconds before concluding that it must be the feeling that people call pity when she heard him talking in such a tone.
It was rather new for her to see someone having expectations from Rio and get disappointed in the end.
****
It was during the lunch break when the student council president had to stay back in her office, even though she dearly wanted to eat in the cafeteria while enjoying watching a certain someone.
Haruto's every gesture was like a new discovery for Akira which she likes to surveillance at any chance she gets.
But unlucky for her that the Ashikaga heiress, Kaede chose to visit Akira today and requested a brief chat between only the two of them.
It was rather difficult to pursue the vice president to go away but Akira's one stern command made the girl's eyes moisten before she paced out of the council room, leaving the two ladies seated on either side of a table.
Resting two cups placed in a flowery patterned saucer and a small dish of cookies on the table, the two ladies sat with varying expressions resting on their exceptionally beautiful faces.
Some might even pay to have an audience with these two celebrity students of the academy since meeting the two in the same space was incredibly rare, considering the small rivalry they carry since their first year.
However, the previous rivalry for grades and position in school has long been thrown away this year; after the appearance of a certain someone in their lives.
"So what pleasure do I owe your visit, Kaede-san?"
Keeping her composure intact, Akira held the saucer before elegantly sipping on her tea. But just as Kaede responded, Akira almost felt like throwing the hot beverage right onto Kaede's face.
"I want you to let go of Haruto since he doesn't belong to you!"
