Chapter 57: Charley Came Back Home
Inside the orange portal where Charley and Jason had entered, countless corpses of the horned beast were lying lifelessly on the ground. All of them seemed to belong in one species, a canine-type beast. Their furs were dark grey and their eyes were red. Though they were already dead, it seemed like they didn't have the chance to close their eyes before their last breath.
These horned beasts were of course the so-called Otherworldly Monster Beasts! Every Otherworldly Monster Beast had a single horn on their forehead and their strength was varied on their color.
Silver was Low Rank, it was of course the weakest among the rank but also the greatest in numbers. Golden Horned beast was Middle Rank and it was stronger than the Silver Horned but of course, their numbers were a lot fewer compared to the Silver Horned.
And lastly, the strongest among the Otherworldly Monster Beasts, the Black Horned ones. Their strength was even comparable to the higher rank Pureblooded Demons or the creatures in the Celestial or Nether realm. Even so, their numbers could be so much fewer that it could be counted on one's fingers.
The corpses spread far and wide and they were all silver-horned Otherworldly Monster Beasts. There were a couple of golden horned though.
Normal Hunters would really find it hard to believe this horrifying sight unless they saw it with their own eyes. Or even if they saw it, they would still find it unbelievable especially if they heard that all of these were caused by a single person, Charley Jabat!
Going through the many corpses and somewhere in the area, there were also a couple of Semi-Demons around. Of course, they were all dead already. Their body was torn into pieces and some of their body parts couldn't even be found anymore.
Somewhere in the middle of the corpses of the Semi-Demons was surprisingly, Charley Jabat!
She was just standing in there. Her body was covered in blood and her eyes were somewhat lost. Sadness, sorrow, dejection, and all sort of synonymous adjectives were blended all together in one emotion and were all could be seen in her eyes.
Even after she vented all her anger to all those beasts and Semi-Demons, why was it that her sorrows and anger towards the unfairness of the world still couldn't leave her alone?
Even she herself could feel that she was starting to look for more killings instead of killing her sorrows and anger. If this went on, she could tell that she would go insane and kill even her relatives instead. And that was the thing she would never let to happen.
"What should I do?" Charley asked in a low voice. By the looks of it, it looked like she was talking to herself but just after a few moments she asked it, a voice sounded from her behind.
"Accept the reality..." The voice said. After which, a person appeared with a mist, revealing Jason on sight. He then continued, "There's nothing else you can do right?"
"..."
Charley contemplated for a while. Right, what else could she do other than accepting the fate that befell them? Go against fate? That was nonsense. If she continued fighting against fate, she would only end up hurting herself even more.
Those people who were saying that they could fight against fate were simply stupid. They never realize that fate was just basically playing with them and let them fight against fate. In fact, it was as well, predestined and was simply arranged by the playful fate.
So rather than fighting, she must accept what had the cruel fate decided to happen. But it was simply just hard to accept. Just why was it that there was something that no matter how hard they try to defy, it was still simply pointless?
Free will? Charley was even doubting that this thing was simply designed for humans to give them false hope.
Jason walked closer and went in front of Charley. Seeing that she was still refusing to accept the fate that was about to happen to them, Jason could only sigh deeply as he said trying to console her, "Your kids will come back someday right? Maybe, Bathala would decide something and let something unexpected happen in the future. Who knows if it is something good?"
Seeing the other party trying so hard to console her, Charley could only smile. But she didn't say any more words regarding this fate but instead, she said, "Let's go back home."
Jason smiled as well before he replied, "Ok."
But just after making a few steps, Jason seemed to recall something as he asked, "Anyway, did you face a Knights of Hell?"
"Yes. Let's talk about it later." Charley replied as she went to the portal that led to the real world. She moved so fast that it appeared to the eye of normal people that as if she just disappeared.
Jason followed his gaze towards the other party. He was still worried about the other party completely losing control of herself but it seemed like he worried over nothing. Seeing the countless corpses around, he could tell that what had happened here wasn't a fight but a one-sided massacre. He really was thankful that Charley managed to not lose control over her borrowed power.
Jason didn't just stand stupidly in there. Knowing that the dungeon would close in itself sooner or later as its portal would disappear, he also went towards the portal as he vanished with the mist.
****
As Charley was rushing towards the portal, she changed her clothes on the way with a snap of her finger. Her power of illusion could do anything she thought.
She didn't want her son to be worried about her so she should at least have a good look when facing her son.
Just like that, Charley came out from the portal as she immediately saw many Hunters outside the village busying themselves for restoring the woods. The Hunters outside had also noticed Charley coming out from the portal as they all stopped what they were doing and as they greeted her, "Tita you're back!"
This was within their expectations. Something like an S-rank dungeon couldn't stop her so why would they worry about her not clearing the dungeon?
Charley smiled at all of them as she slowly landed on the ground before she responded, "Yes I'm back."
"Did you have a hard time clearing the dungeon?" Someone from the crowd asked curiously. Everyone stared at him. The certain someone felt awkward as he also felt that something was wrong with his question.
Indeed, why would he ask that way? He would appear that he was doubting the strength of the person before her. He could just say, "It seems like you have a good time clearing the dungeon," instead of asking questions.
But Charley didn't mind this small matter as she could tell as well that the other party only asked such questions out of worry and not doubt. She then smiled and replied, "Not at all."
Seeing that the queen wasn't angry, the certain someone heaved a sigh of relief. A moment later Jason appeared beside Charley and they all greeted him as well.
"It seems like all of you are having a good time restoring the woods in their original state..." Charley saw the crowds doing this and that but she didn't know what exactly had happened here for the forest to fall to such a state. So she asked curiously, "So what happened here?"
She only knew that some Semi-Demons had escaped her grasp but she never thought that those Semi-Demons would actually bring such disaster.
But instead of the crowds, Jason replied to her, "It's a long story, let's get back home first. Your son may be waiting for you now."
"Alright!" Charley agreed as she nodded her head but before she left, she waved her hands slowly and an incredible amount of World Energy was unleashed from her.
Trees and plants all around the area grew back, revealing a lush green scenery of the forest. The other living beings such as wild animals and beasts might not be able to come back to life anymore but they could be spread once again in a given time.
Seeing what had just happened, all the Hunters all around the area gasped in astonishment. Something they thought that they could finish in a few days was done in a mere few seconds by their Tita Charley. This was something that could show how large the gap of powers between them.
"So this is the power of the Queen of Illusion? The one who could turn illusion into reality!" The crowds exclaimed in admiration inwardly. They could feel that even in a hundred years of hard work, they would never be able to reach this height.
"Thank you, Tita!" Of course, everyone didn't forget to be grateful and show it with their words. Although it was just a word, Charley felt that it came from their hearts and she was happy accepting their thanks. She then left the area and vanished from where she was standing.
