Wizard Lord:I can Extract Anything

Chapter 34: Chapter 34: Wizard's Guild

The Wizard's Guild is the largest supplier in the commercial district, providing over half of the materials for the entire academy. These guilds, hailing from various regions and families, gather here to sell all sorts of magical materials, both common and rare, making it a vital resource for many low-level wizards.

Anna had given Richard two options: the Charla Trading Company and the Seven Luminaries Trading Company. The former ensured quality but was expensive, while the latter offered cheaper materials with inconsistent quality.

Given his current situation, Richard opted for the Seven Luminaries Trading Company to purchase materials.

Located on the golden street of the commercial district, the Seven Luminaries Trading Company sat among pricey real estate, where annual rents exceeded ten thousand magic stones. Even wealthy apprentices like Anna couldn't afford to rent here.

Richard admired the colorful magic stone lamp signs, feeling a sense of nostalgia for Earth.

"Wizards and mortals in this world seem worlds apart," Richard mused as he approached a store.

"Seven Luminaries Trading Company, here we go."

Entering the store, Richard immediately noticed the silence.

"A soundproof magical array."

Richard quickly assessed.

The shop was small, featuring a counter, a few shelves, and a mechanical female shopkeeper with exposed metal joints.

"Welcome to the Seven Luminaries Trading Company. How can I assist you?" the mechanical shopkeeper greeted with a sweet, pleasant voice, bowing slightly.

"I need to purchase some materials, but your store..." Richard scanned the shopkeeper from head to toe, noting her lifelike skin, expressive features, and sweet voice. If not for her mechanical joints and lifeless crystal eyes, he might have mistaken her for a real person.

"This must be your first visit," the shopkeeper smiled. "All wizard guild goods are stored in specialized warehouses. You pay here, and we deliver directly to your room or the testing area."

"I see." Richard nodded, handing over a parchment listing his needs.

Richard mixed in some unnecessary materials to prevent others from deciphering his formula.

"Please wait a moment." The shopkeeper took the parchment and used a crystal ball to record its contents.

"Your total is five hundred thirty academy credits. Would you like to proceed?" the shopkeeper inquired after a brief glow from the crystal ball.

"Five formulas, five hundred thirty academy credits. Subtracting the extraneous materials, each formula costs about a hundred credits."

Richard nodded, handing over academy credits.

After verifying the currency, the shopkeeper gave him a contract detailing the transaction.

Contracts are essential in the wizarding world for any trade.

After signing, Richard recorded his delivery address.

With everything confirmed, Richard didn't leave immediately but requested a list from the shopkeeper.

"Could you provide a list of the bloodlines you offer?"

"Certainly, please wait."

The shopkeeper retrieved a crystal ball from beneath the counter and handed it to Richard. Upon probing it mentally, Richard was inundated with vast information.

"How many worlds have wizards conquered... This is an overwhelming number of bloodlines."

Richard quickly counted over ten thousand species, ranging from insects to dragons, even elemental beings from the four elemental planes. This collection dwarfed the bloodlines available during the wizarding wars.

Among the numerous bloodlines, Richard finally found what he needed: the dual-headed troll bloodline, required for the second stage of his Black Knight alchemy.

Seven Luminaries Trading Company price: five hundred magic stones.

"Five hundred magic stones." Richard rubbed his chin. That amount was significant for him, making it impossible to pursue the second stage of his bloodline alchemy anytime soon.

Leaving the guild, Richard headed to the free open area in the testing zone instead of returning to the dorm.

In the center, a short-haired woman was practicing spells.

Boom!

A cone of flame shot from her hands, quickly melting a metal target into a pool of molten iron.

Clap, clap, clap.

"Ellie, you truly have a knack for the Enchantment School."

Richard clapped as he emerged from behind Ellie, who was practicing spells. She had just used the Flame Hand spell, specifically the improved version detailed in the senior apprentice's notes Richard obtained.

"Nowhere near you. You're Master Jolord's official apprentice," Ellie teased, making a face before hugging Richard's arm.

"Richard, aren't you usually reading at this time?"

Feeling the familiar sensation on his arm, Richard, used to it, didn't bother pulling away.

"I'm running low on magic stones, thinking of earning some."

"Taking on a task?" Ellie's eyes lit up. "My mentor taught me a lot recently. I might be stronger than you now."

Over the past year, Richard and Ellie had completed a few tasks together, fostering their teamwork, even if the rewards weren't substantial.

"Did your mentor decide to take you as a formal apprentice?" Richard asked, surprised. Ellie had caught the attention of a wizard skilled in both Enchantment and Curse schools and was currently under evaluation.

"Not yet." Ellie's face fell but quickly brightened. "But she's been much nicer to me lately, not as strict."

"Plus," Ellie whispered conspiratorially in Richard's ear, her breath tickling him, "I heard she's the principal's student. Not the vice-principal, but the real principal of the Black Tower Wizard Academy, the Grand Wizard's student."

"That's wonderful." Richard subtly shifted away. "If you become her disciple, you'll be the principal's grand-disciple. You could walk with pride in the academy."

"Tch, aren't you going to curry favor with me?" Ellie teased. "If you don't, I might run off with that Joseph. He's also an official apprentice of an alchemy wizard and a wizard's descendant!"

Richard smiled wryly. Ellie's popularity exceeded his expectations, with enough suitors to form a battalion.

Joseph was a standout among them.

An official apprentice, a wizard's descendant, and an Alchemy School student.

Together, Richard wondered if the universe was hinting at a rivalry.

"Alright, my dear Ellie. Are you free tonight? I'd like to take you to dinner, to curry some favor."

Richard extended his hand, which Ellie gladly took.

"Of course, I'm free."
