Witches: Starting as a Lord Marrying a Wife

Chapter 65: Chapter 65: Acquiring the Meditation Technique

Anne felt her heart racing.

The Wolf Duke's response was completely unexpected. Yet she could tell he wasn't lying.

With civil war brewing in the Silvermoon Kingdom and the Second Prince eyeing the North, the Wolf Duke indeed needed greater strength. The power of wizards could undoubtedly help him resist the Second Prince.

However, the risks were enormous. Should wizardry be exposed, the Silvermoon Kingdom's Church would become a relentless adversary. Though the Church of the Holy Light in Silvermoon was far from the Dawn Empire, a Sixth-Tier Red-robed Archbishop still presided, a power the Wolf Ridge couldn't contend with.

This danger wasn't lost on Anne or the witches behind her. Aligning with Wolf Ridge might offer temporary refuge, but it could also expose them to the Church's scrutiny, risking annihilation.

"The Saintess and Demon Hunter Hillman have already arrived in the North," Anne said cautiously, testing the waters. "This place is far too dangerous. We're preparing to leave the North, and I came to inform you. I also hope to take the witches you've sheltered with me. You're welcome to join us if you wish."

"Leave?" David raised an eyebrow. "And where would you go? The Crystal Song Kingdom? Or further north to the frigid wastes?"

"The Crystal Song Kingdom also harbors the Church of the Holy Light," David continued. "The people there, bound by the harsh cold, place their hope and faith in the Light. It would be even more perilous than the chaotic North.

"As for the far North, it's a true wasteland, teeming with powerful frost beasts. Survival is barely possible for humans."

"Believe me, no place is safer than here," he asserted. "If you're concerned about exposure, hide in the Frost Wolf Forest. Wolf Ridge can provide you with supplies and aid."

David's calm, persuasive tone sought to reel in the wizard before him. If their organization were to relocate to Wolf Ridge, it would be a step closer to integrating them into his plans.

Anne fell silent, considering his words. The Wolf Duke's reasoning was compelling, and the offer of sanctuary in the Frost Wolf Forest was tempting. But she knew she couldn't make such a decision for her organization alone.

"You should discuss it with the others," David added. "Wolf Ridge will always welcome you."

"Now then," he leaned forward, eyes gleaming with purpose. "Can you tell me how to become a wizard?"

David shifted the conversation to his true goal, not pressuring her but rather steering toward what mattered most to him.

"I have a basic meditation technique," Anne offered. "You can try it first." Her reasoning was simple: fostering and nurturing new wizards aligned with her organization's goals.

If the Wolf Duke became a wizard, he would naturally become an ally. Whether or not the organization chose to align with Wolf Ridge, this could still serve as a potential lifeline.

David's excitement surged.

A faint silvery light flickered in the small white mouse's eyes, which seemed to relay information directly to his mind. This was a refined use of spiritual energy, enabling Anne to transmit the meditation technique without words.

David closed his eyes and allowed the spiritual energy to flow into him. However, he avoided revealing his own Third-Tier spiritual strength, choosing to keep his cards close.

When he opened his eyes, the silvery light in the mouse's gaze had already faded.

Chirp, chirp.

The mouse squeaked twice before dissolving into mist. Clearly, without Anne's magical energy sustaining it, the summoned creature had returned to its origin.

"A summoning spell?" David mused aloud, impressed. "Wizardry truly is extraordinary."

His only regret was not learning how to contact Anne again. For now, he'd have to rely on her to initiate the next meeting.

After ensuring the area was clear, David finally closed his eyes to review the newly acquired information.

The Basic Meditation Technique.

As the name implied, this was a foundational method for cultivating a wizard's spiritual strength. Even so, it was a technique comparable to a Ninth-Tier knight's breathing method, proving just how advanced wizardry was compared to knighthood.

"This marks the beginning of my journey as a wizard," David murmured with a deep exhale.

Using this meditation technique, he could start enhancing his spiritual energy.

Yet he couldn't help but feel it was a pity he hadn't gained further wizarding knowledge—particularly regarding frost magic.

Suppressing his rising anticipation, David headed back toward the castle.

At the gates, Lya, Amy, and Rena awaited his return. Upon seeing their lord approach, they rushed forward with radiant smiles to greet him, walking by his side as they all entered the castle.

Tonight would be unforgettable.

Whether celebrating the breakthrough of his frost energy into his unique Frost Combat Aura or the acquisition of the meditation technique, it was a night worthy of commemoration.

It was another rare occasion where all three ladies shared a bed with him.

Fortunately, Lya had fully recovered. Otherwise, Amy and Rena alone might not have been enough to handle David's vigor.
