Wisp! Awaken in the Magical World

Chapter 121: Except One

Mosie watched that and finally understood what Alvin and Milia were trying to do. Yet, he couldn't do anything about it since the test clearly stated that those who woke up in Ten Click's time would pass the test. "Sigh... you pass."

Nori, who was glaring at Alvin, finally came back to himself. "Eh? Pass? Pass what? What happened?"

Alvin finally managed to manage the burnt with his Magic Energy, although he looked quite weird with that mark on his face. "Ahem... there is a reason for our actions earlier."

Finally, Milia explained to Nori what happened and why they acted like that. Nori then looked back at Linfel, who came up with the idea. "Next time, forget about me. You better never try to put them together, even if it means I will sleep for all eternity."

Linfel shrugged. "And I couldn't care less about what you want."

"You..." Nori felt like killing the wisp right there and then.

However, Milia immediately stopped him. "Enough! What bullshit eternity? Don't ever say such a thing again!"

"I..." Guilty filled Nori's soul, understanding he did say something he shouldn't. "Sorry. I misspoke. Of course, I want to stay with you forever... and that doesn't include Alvin."

Alvin sighed and shrugged. At least Linfel's plan worked... although he would have preferred Nori would take a little longer to wake up. 'I was sooooooo close!'

Time continued to pass, and Nine Clicks went by. At the moment, not even 10% of the Maguses and Familiars managed to wake up yet, much to Linfel's group's surprise. "This willpower test is truly hard..."

That reminded Milia of something. "Nori, what kind of dream were you having before you woke up?"

"Me?" Nori pondered a bit. "Well... it was all about the Frondor Family taking you away from me. I always felt afraid of them appearing someday and getting in our way. I guess that became kind of a mental demon for me."

Milia nodded. "It is good that you managed to wake up, even if it was through a... not very conventional... method. You can also forget this fear of yours. We have passed the exam, so we are now part of the Ventis Sect."

Nori's joy was palpable. "Yes! The Ventis Sect is beyond the reach of the Frondor Family. We are truly free now," he exclaimed, his relief and happiness echoing in the room.

Alvin joined the conversation, and then they talked about their plans for the future. Meanwhile, Linfel sat on Alvin's shoulder and let his core stay there. He had just learned how to use that Soul Power, and there were too many things he didn't understand. He spent most of his time controlling it and getting used to the feeling.

Finally, Ten Clicks were over, which propelled Mosie to stand up. "Those who are awake, gather on the back. We removed everyone who was sleeping there."

Linfel and the others followed Mosie's orders.

Following that, Mosie's Soul Power spread all over the room, entering the souls of the Maguses and Familiars who were still asleep. He was also helped by the other elders, who could use Soul Power, albeit to a lesser degree.

*Ouch...*

"My head..."

"Why am I on the floor?"

"I feel like I'm missing something..."

The other participants woke up one by one, and a few minutes later, they were all up once more. Only then did Mosie continue his speech. "For those who are not on the back, you have failed. Stay in this Spaceship for now. We will send you back to your own planets soon."

"What?!"

"Failed?! Failed how?!"

"Is this a joke?!"

"You can't be serious!"

That and many more complaints came from the recently awakened participants. However, Mosie's expression turned dark, and his Magic Energy spread through the room.

*Bang!*

The sheer power of his Magic Energy forced the bodies of all the Maguses and Familiars who were complaining to the ground. None of them could resist it, however hard they tried, regardless of how much they circulated their Magic Energy.

"In here, I'm the only one allowed to complain. I will let you off... this one time. If anyone opens their mouth again, they will make a trip to the space outside. Let me see just how long you can survive out there. I will definitely open a few bets with my fellow elders here."

Finally, Mosie let go of his Magic Energy pressure, and everyone was allowed to stand up again. No one complained this time, though. They were reminded that they were dealing with the Ventis Sect. Their planet's laws and rules had absolutely no meaning in the Ventis Sect's eyes.

"That's more like it," Mosie spoke, satisfied. "You failed because you didn't manage to wake up in time. You will receive a full review of your performance in each test, including their rules. Once you go back, work out the reason for your mental demons to keep you down for so long. That is something that will deeply affect your futures."

He continued. "This time, out of the 37 Level Five Maguses and Familiars, only three passed. Out of the 6815 Level Four Maguses and Familiars, only 53 passed. Ultimately, the group that impressed me the most this time. Out of 180 Level Three Maguses and Familiars, 21 passed. To think over ten percent of those at Level Three had made it is truly remarkable."

Linfel group only counted as four of those at level three, so the rest did wake up on their own indeed.

A few moments later, another Spaceship arrived, quickly connecting to the Spaceship where Linfel's group had their fifth test. The elders came down from the stage as Mosie led them. "Those who passed, come with me. We are taking a different Spaceship to the Ventis Sect. As for the rest, good luck next time."

The other spaceship was much, much smaller. Still, Mosie and the other elders didn't seem to mind. It was much more than enough to make the journey back to the Ventis Sect since the number of Maguses and Familiars who passed was always very low. If you count all the planets that had their own tests before joining together at the asteroid, you would literally have tens of millions of participants.

Yet, only 77 ended up joining the Ventis Sect. That alone showed just how terrifyingly hard it was to get through this hurdle... except for one little guy.

'The tests were easier than I expected...' Linfel couldn't help but think in the end.
