The ambulance stopped when it could no longer pass the obstacles in the draw. The driver and his paramedic opened the rear door, pulled a stretcher and several cases from the ambulance, then began the hard task of pulling a wheeled cart on an uneven surface.

On the front seat of the ambulance, a small battery powered television was still on, the image of a dead soldier visible. Unlike most of the people at the fence, the paramedics knew what was happening in the valley.

A woman needed their help.
