We the dead punish the living.

Chapter 16: Kimberly is in jail.

The girls and I walked back to the hotel after they picked out clothes. Lilith picked a tight-fitting dress that hugged her body, while Eve got some short shorts and a tube top. These two girls knew how to dress, and I didn't tell them what to pick. But my girls knew how to dress to get my attention. As we returned to the hotel, I saw the area marked off and Kimberly's car still there, so I walked around looking for her. The cop blocked our room, and I told the girls to stay in the hallway.

"Do you think we will find anything? I mean, how did she kill everyone in a 150-meter range from her room and not die herself?"

So the cops think she killed the people; I smirked as now I have a way for her never to leave me and will be forced to live with me for the rest of her life. Unless she wants to end up in prison for life, let's go free her from jail. At the same time, killing the police there makes it look like she is the one who did it.

I walked out and told the girls to follow me. We can eat the living today, as they will need food for the babies inside them. It takes us 45 minutes to get to the police station, where Kimberly is.

"Girls eat all the people in uniforms like that."

I pointed at the cops walking out of the building, and I will eat the people locked up as they aren't good people to me, and I need my food, too. As we walk into the police station, I lock down the whole building as my daughters smile, and their four tails open up, shooting out their tiny tentacles and hitting the officers, pulling their souls out. As I look for anyone to eat, and there isn't anyone in front, I make my way into the back holding area.

The screams from the front had made the cops from the back run to the front, giving my girls all the food they needed for the day. As I walked by the jail cells and saw about sixty people, Kimberly saw me and stood up, running to the bars.

"What are you doing here?"

"I am here to break out my ride, of course; after all, I need you and am willing to kill all those who get in my way."

The other prisoners looked at Kimberly like she was crazy until I picked up a clipboard and began to turn the pages with the photos and crimes of the people arrested. I find all but one of the people are worthy of dying. A man that killed someone for raping his ten-year-old daughter. So I will not kill him, as he is a father that did the right thing.

I walked over to a cell next to Kimberly and phased through the bars, grabbing a black guy who stabbed a woman while mugging her. I grabbed his head and slammed his head into the concrete wall with the echo of flesh and bone hitting against the wall. The other cells watch as I pound this head against the wall until his head is entirely mush.

The prisoners try to break open the cell door. After the guy's body falls to the ground, I go one by one, killing the people in the cell as Kimberly watches, horrified by what I am doing.

"What? This is how I handle things, or is killing bad people wrong to you? Because you're sending a lot of mixed signals here, Kimberly. First, you want me to kill your enemies, and now you're appalled by me killing criminals. Which is it? Killing is bad, or killing for my selfishness is ok."

After finishing killing the people, I wait for their souls to come out and begin to devour them as the father is sitting in a corner, scared out of his mind after seeing the cells get slaughtered by something he can't understand. As I opened Kimberly's cell, I let her leave it.

"Go to his cell and tell him that he is only alive right now because he did something good. By killing that guy so no one else's daughter will feel that pain."

Kimberly walks over as I finish up, and she tells him what I said; he looks at her and breathes a sigh of relief.

"Kimberly, come."

She turns around and walks out of the back with me as the girls wait. This shocks her as Lilith is already James's age, and she doesn't know who the other girl is.

"That's your second daughter, Eve. Don't ask why they are grown up, as you don't want to know."

I begin to rob the cops of the money in their wallets as we will need it for the road, and they are dead, so there isn't a point in letting them keep it. I hand the money over to Kimberly, and we leave after finding her a hoody to wear and her stuff as we make our way back to her car.

I replaced her license plate with another car because I didn't want the cops to find us too soon. I tell her to drive as my daughters sit in the back, and I am in the front as we make our way to the next city. I am getting more powerful but also feel more hungry, and I need a big city to hit the spot.

We leave the city limits, and the radio starts playing breaking news.

"We report that the 127th Police station has had a horrible attack, killing all the police and prisoners."

That's odd. I left one alive; why didn't they report on him? That wouldn't be something one can miss so easily.

Inside a federal building within the city.

Three guys in black suits look at the father I spared inside a room with a window.

"Jeff, so you think this is paranormal? What are we talking about here? Demons can't interact with humans much, only take over their bodies and inflict minimal damage to humans other than the one they take over."

He looks at a folder with a picture of writing on the wall; it's from the frat house.

"I feel both the frat house issue and this one is connected, and it has to do with Kimberly Jones. I don't know how, but rumor has it she can talk to the dead, or at least her family has a history with it."

The third man and older man, withered by age, spoke up.

"That's why the department has asked us if this is something new. They want to know other than the normal monsters and ghosts we deal with. I feel this is the beginning of something massive, and I want to know what it is before too many people start to die. Call for Aoi. Her spirit abilities will be needed here. Let her ask the dead if they know what's happening in this city."

The other two men leave as the old man looks over the father's statement.

"Ashley, what has your great-granddaughter gotten herself into."

He pulled out a locket and opened it.

Back in the car.

Kimberly wanted to ask why James did that and how he could just kill with no remorse, but she kept. She didn't believe I would answer honestly with her as they knew nothing about each other. Kimberly slammed on the brakes as a man stood in the middle of this back highway. She couldn't stop shaking as the two girls in the back became restless.

"Stay in the car, you three. Looks like my father wants to talk to me."

I opened the door and stepped out.
