We the dead punish the living.

Chapter 13: The start of a journey begins with a child.

Kimberly starts to carry her bags to the car, and I follow her as we go outside. I feel like I am being watched. I tell her I will be back and walk away, trying to draw out whoever is watching me. Walking through the neighborhood, I hear movement through the woods on the other side of the street. I stop and walk across the street, entering the woods.

"Who's there? Come out and show yourself if you're following me; it has to be for a reason. I do not feel hostility from you. But if you don't show yourself, I will assume your plans for me aren't good."

I waited for three minutes, but there wasn't any movement or sound until I was about to turn around, and a humanoid being just as tall as below my knee walked out from behind a tree. The entity looked shy and scared. It looked like a baby girl with tendrils for hair and four tails. Its skin was glossy silver that looked wet.

Its expression was like someone meeting someone they wanted to for the first time but was scared of rejection. I walked over and squatted down twenty feet away, waiting for it to have the courage to get closer. I did this because I felt a bond between us. I don't know how to explain it. It felt like it was a part of me, and I wanted to meet it.

"Where did you come from, young lady?"

Her pitch-black eyes didn't scare me. They felt like home. She walked closer with her hands next to her clenched in fists. As she finally stopped before me, I held my hand and placed it on her head. She jumped a little, but then the tendrils wrapped around my hand and arm. Her skin started to turn a little pink before she smiled and started jumping around happily.

"PaPa, Daddy!"

She wasn't speaking, but I could hear her voice inside my head as if she were a daughter happily meeting her father for the first time. She jumped into my chest, wrapping her tail around me and hugging me tightly as she rubbed her face into it. Her hair tendrils began to run all over, feeling every part she could.

"Where did you come from, little one?"

She looked up at me, thinking what I meant, before pointing in one direction as I began to walk that way. I finally started seeing signs, as dead plants started being the common sight, followed by animals, and then finally a dog and old man in front of what looked like the eggs you would see in alien moves, but it was clear with no color. I looked around and noticed this place was where Kimberly and I explored our ability to have sex.

"I see now. You're my daughter. Who knew I could become a father? I will have to think of a name for you. Let me think, how about Lilith? You will be the first female of your kind and also a charming woman when you grow up. I think it fits you nicely."

Her eyes open wide, and she smiles as she crawls up my chest and kisses my forehead. She hugs my head, rubbing her body on my face in happiness, and makes noises that aren't words; she can only speak telepathically.

"Happy! Happy! Happy! Love daddy!"

She won't let go of my head, and she rubs and hugs my head as I walk back to where Kimberly was with her on my face. As I finally get back, Kimberly starts to laugh. She looks at me with a being she hasn't seen before. Lilith didn't take too kindly to being laughed at as I felt a hint of bloodthirst starting to come out.

"Lilith, calm down; that's your mother."

Lilith stopped and turned her head to look at Kimberly, and even Kimberly froze when she heard this. Lilith jumped down and walked over to Kimberly. She looked at her and tilted her head before looking back at me.

"I can't hear mommy's voice?"

"Well, I think it's because she is living and not dead like me. You're a special girl that is born from me, someone that is dead, and mommy, someone that is living."

She extended her tendrils out, waiting for Kimberly's hand.

"Kimberly, hold your hand hand for her."

Kimberly was unsure, but she gulped, squatted down, and held her hand out while Lilith felt it. She smiled a little before jumping up and down. She could feel a slight connection between them.

"Mommy! It's Mommy!"

She jumped into Kimberly's chest, hugging her while burying her face into her breast. This takes Kimberly aback. She looks at me, and I begin to speak.

"Do you remember the stuff that I shot out inside her throat that you throw back up? If what I think is right is that we created her through that act. If you ask me how I don't know. But I plan to test it out once we get to a big city, from the looks of it. She needed to eat the life energy around her to be born, and I want to test out if the more life energy, the stronger and more developed my children will be."

She looked down at Lilith, taking in all the information, moved a hand, and placed it on her head, making Lilith look up. Part of her was scared of those dark eyes, but she could tell Lilith was just a child and hadn't done anything wrong, so she tried not to be scared of her.

"Okay, it's time for us to head out. I am getting hungry, so we will have to stop by a midsize city. I now have a daughter to feed, and what kind of father would I be if I didn't feed her?"

I call Lilith, and she climbs under my leg and rests on my chest, wrapping her tail around me, rubbing her face, and cooing happily into it as I get in the passenger seat and Kimberly gets into the driver's seat.

I put some Late Night Savior on the radio as we pulled out of the driveway, and I began to play with Lilth as she kissed my hand and rubbed it on her face. She is a daddy's girl, and I smile as if this could be fun when she grows up, but for now, I shall wait and let Kimberly push a couple of hundred children out for me as I smile sinisterly. Lilith likes licking my fingers, so I let her do what she wants.

There isn't any moral right in this land; morals are for the living, and the dead don't have any time to deal with that stupidity. We leave the city limits on our way to Carson City; the closes town we will stop in is three hours away, and I lean back in the seat as Lilith curls up in my chest, sucking my fingers as she falls asleep as I take a nap.

"Wake me up when we stop."

"Okay, we will be there in three hours. Have fun bonding with your little girl, husband."

Kimberly added with sarcasm, but little did she know now that I knew I could have kids with her. She isn't leaving even if I have to chain her up in a basement and force her to spawn my children.

I drift off to sleep.
