10 Minutes had passed while Mo Fan was not able to decide what to do. He was hiding behind a pillar in front of the school’s gate, but he was not able to hear even a single sound from before nor did he see anyone leaving the school premises.
Mo Fan finally made up his mind as he went inside school, he quietly arrived in the cafeteria building and noticed that the door was closed and not only that but the smell was gone as well.
He poked his head through the glass door and peeped. After triply confirming the room was empty, he opened the door and headed inside quietly.
After checking again that no one was there, he finally stopped crouching and stood up. He went to the corner of the kitchen where those Black Vatican scum were digging at to inspect the area.
He couldn’t leave this place as it is because his Xinxia was studying here. He was quite worried about her safety so he decided to check up on them again. Fortunately or unfortunately they weren’t here now.
He was inside the kitchen looking for the hole they were digging but strangely enough he didn’t find anything. The flooring was the same regardless of anywhere he looked.
“What were they trying to do here? They seemed to be digging but there are no holes anywhere...” Mo wondered out loud as he was inspecting the area. Even after searching for 10 minutes he did not find anything. He gave up and left the kitchen area and was about to exit, when....
Guughuugu~~
Suddenly, Mo Fan heard a voice behind him. He instantly crouched down as he was afraid that those scums had returned.
_Shit!!_ Mo Fan cursed in his heart.
He hid behind a Half flipped metal table and sneakily took a glance at the place where the noise appeared.
_Hyuuk!! Huh wha... What.. the hell is that?!_ Mo Fan was scared shitless again as he noticed there was a giant 1metre one eyed rat eating his meal.
His so called meal was a person in a security guard uniform. He almost fainted on sight watching the gory scene. He had read about this type of creature.
This giant rat was a Magic Beast a monster “Colossal Eyed Ape Rat” which was quite the timid type of Monster, who was at the bottom of the food chain, scraping by what he found. It would not attack humans unless it thinks it’s life is in danger or would be extremely hungry, in which case he would go ham on its target.
_Shit shit shit!! What’s this rat bastard eating damn it! How dare he ate a human. No in the first place, what’s a creature which was found in marshy lands or underground sewage doing here... SHIT!!!_ As Mo Fan was processing the situation, he finally understood why the Black Vatican scum were digging here.
This type of timid creature who only lived in marshy land or underground sewage has appeared here all the way from outside the safe zone!
Mo Fan thought that even if some creatures did live in the sewage area they would dare not come near the safe zone area. But he finally understood his Aunt’s words of what she meant and how wrong the information inside the textbooks were!
Mo Fan who was new to this world had never met a monster much less seen it having its “meal”. Only now did it dawned on him that this is a cruel world where survival of the fittest took place. The weak became food for the strong.
The safe zone was not a safe zone at all, it did not even come close to bringing a sense of security to the ones who knew about the monsters roaming inside the city, only the power you cultivated could bring you some sort of sense of security!
_The text books did say that this creature’s kind was often eaten by other strong Monsters, but even for this type of Creature, humans were nothing but food huh..._ Mo Fan was slightly angry but never did the thought of battling against it appeared in his mind for even once.
_Shit that’s right, I’ll call the City’s beast hunter squad and leave here as soon as possible, fortunately it hasn’t noticed me yet_ As Mo Fan thought he quickly removed his phone dialled the number of 120.
The City’s beast hunters were type of police which fought against the demon creatures in the vicinity of the city. They had more authority than the police did and the police had to act according to the orders given to them.
Tring Tring.
“Hello and welcome, this is the City’s beast hunting officers, may I know the reason of your call?” A soft pleasant voice of a girl was heard from the other end of the phone call.
“I’m at the Mingwen Girl’s Middle School and there is a magic beast eating a person inside the cafeteria building, please come fast” Mo Fan frantically said all the information excluding the one from the Black Vatican.
“Reaffirming Confirmation, you said a Magic Beast has appeared at Mingwen Girl’s Middle School and is eating a person.” The voice on the other end sounded a little serious as she asked this.
“YES!” Mo Fan whispered firmly.
He was so focused on the phone call that he did not noticed that the moment he called Rat beast had already looked towards in his direction as if it was able to feel the presence of Mo Fan and was glaring at him viciously as if it knew he was there.
GROWWWLLLL
“Where is the Magic Beast? Is it anywhere near you?” the girl asked again, she was dead serious this time, as she noticed Mo Fan’s tone was serious, she did not think this was a prank call.
“Its in front of me, roughly 30metres apart from me, I’ve hidden myself so it hasn’t noticed me yet, anyway please hurry” Mo Fan said as he got a little annoyed and impatient about it.
“Run!!” the voice shouted frantically from the other end.
“What?” Mo Fan was a little surprised at the voice as she didn’t sound calm at all.
“Run away from there now!” she ordered.
Mo Fan wondered why she was sounding so frantic, I mean he was still not found out and could easily slip out from here.
But just as he was wondering he noticed through the reflection of a mirror in front of him that a set of deep blue eyes oddly emerged behind the glass as they directly locked onto the person who let out the signal.
Its pupils were as big as a basketball, and the meat tissues around the eyes writhed as it turned around, raising Goosebumps on his skin.
With the help of the reflection on the glossy metal table, Mo Fan was able to roughly see a silhouette.
_That’s a neck-?_
The neck was as big as a tree, it was hard to distinguish whether it was a neck or a head. In short, in the place where there should be a head was an eye as large as a basketball, and a mouth that was filled with rotten corpse.
_Shit, are these Magical Beasts equipped with a signal receiver? It could even sense when I call!_ Mo Fan cursed to himself.
As soon as he called, the big-eyed neck monster immediately locked onto him. Not even those aliens in Hollywood had an amazing ability like that!
_Gugu!_
Suddenly, the big-eyed neck monster’s pupil looked as though it had condensed, he could see that its basketball-sized pupil was compressing.
As the building energy reached its maximum output, a red ray shot out from the monster’s pupil!
The red ray pierced through the glass window that separated the students and the canteen aunties, before piercing through the row of dining tables straight toward Mo Fan’s location!
Mo Fan nearly peed his pants.
_Shit!! How come it can shoot Superman’s eye lasers?!_ That was the genuine thought that passed through Mo Fan’s head as he saw the death laser coming after his life.
“Hello? Hello?” the voice from the phone was gone silent as Mo Fan’s body entered a state where his mind was no longer in control of his body.
Before his mind was able to grasp the situation and give out the command to move, his body had already acted subconsciously on its own and he frantically tumbled towards the cafeteria’s exit as he dodged the laser by a hair’s breadth. It was his body’s genuine reflex, because if it had waited for the brain’s command then he would’ve been hit by the laser.
The Laser hit the spot he was previously on and the metal literally melted as the laser easily pierced through as the spot he was previously on become a scorched black hole.
“Fuck!! My Phone!! This thing doesn’t even greet me before attacking me! Its cold expression is like a cafeteria lady’s annihilating gaze when you hope she will give you a bit more meat” Mo Fan was panting for breath as he was so scared that he was having trouble breathing. Mo Fan was lucky enough to dodge the laser, but his phone which left his hands turned into a puddle as it melted.
If he hadn’t rolled away, then that hole would’ve been his chest!
As their Stardust grew stronger, they would also change a Mage’s physique. Although these changes weren’t extremely evident, they were good enough for a Mage to dodge very evident attacks.
Mo Fan was also very clever. He had chosen a location near the exit from the beginning, and thus he was able to successfully leave the cafeteria with just that tumble and roll.
However, everything was not as simple as Mo Fan thought it would be. The large-eyed neck monster let out a screeching noise as it rushed out of the back of the cafeteria. Its massive eyes was once again condensing a red light.
Mo Fan glanced behind him and felt increasingly shocked.
