Chapter 51 Final day (part VI)
Everyone froze, realizing what Salphie had just said.
“Are you sure about that?” Silver hands opened and closed. She was quite surprised at Salphie’s bravery to stand up to her without flinching.
“Yes.” Salphie replied. The others were shocked. They weren’t sure what to say for that moment and silence filled heavily in the air.
“Wait. Wait. Wait.” Ren came over, blocking the Silver path in between Silver and Salphie. He knew that Silver was a dangerous person and right now he could feel the full out silent bloodlust coming from Silver’s body aimed directly towards Salphie.
Salphie's whole brave demeanor was quickly crumbling as she shook on the spot. Her eyes couldn’t move away from the intense gaze that Silver was giving towards her.
“Are you sure Salphie? Do you choose to go against Silver?” Ren pushed his sister behind her, trying his best to cover her from Silver’s bloodlust. Even though he was being hit maliciously with her gaze, he gulped and trembled, knowing full well that Salphie’s decision would affect his choice as well, though he cursed silently in his head, wondering why Salphie had suddenly decided to go against Silver. It was completely ludicrous, especially because Salphi had made an effort to get to know Silver. Not only that, he saw how Silver fought, she wasn’t the type to back down when there was a threat.
Salphie pushed aside her brother and pouted towards him. “Who said I was going to go against Silver?”
“Hah?! But-” Ren was stunned by what he heard and froze.
“You didn’t even listen to what I was going to finish saying.” She crossed her hand in front of her, annoyed that she was suddenly accused of turning against Silver. The fear in her eyes was still there as she was trying hard to keep her bravado.
“Ah…” Ren felt stupid and at the same time relieved that his life wasn’t in jeopardy.
Silver’s blood lust was suddenly drawn back, she wasn’t aiming to kill her, yet. It is just that her instinct took over at the thought of a potential threat.
“I'm always going to be on Silver’s side.” Salphie walked over, and grabbed Silver’s hand. “I believe in her.”
Ren was taken aback by his sister's sudden declaration. He had never seen his younger sister, who didn’t open up easily, to take such fondness towards her.
Silver swallowed, she felt ashamed at her sudden conclusion, but at the same time Salphie’s words were like a blaze of fire sparking off in her heart. The words, “I believe in her”, was a special phrase that enlightened her heart. She had doubted countless times, thinking that she might not succeed in this whole endeavor, even though she had steeled her heart to chase after her resolve.
Believing in someone wholeheartedly was something not easily given. Only a few had such confidence in Silver, and Jasper was one of them as well.
“Salphie. Would you be willing to join Valhalla?” Silver words were almost a whisper.
“Absolutely!” A brilliant smile erupted on her face. She grasped onto Silver’s outstretched hand and shook it vigorously. The warmth of Salphie’s hand spread throughout her body, giving her warmth that she had forgotten, tingling her heart.
“If you don’t mind, may I look at your card?”
“Sure.” Salphie gave it towards her without a second thought. Silver took a look at Salphie and was completely amazed at her Status.

What is with her Luck?! Silver was astounded by her status. Nobody just gets over twenty in Luck, honestly it was unheard for a normal human to even have such numbers. She took a look at Salphie and back at the card, still trying to get used to the fact that this wasn’t a dream.
She also noticed her abilities: Foresight and Hero’s Beckoning. She understood Foresight, but she never heard of Hero’s beckoning. One thing that sucked about the status cards was that she couldn’t read the abilities description of the owner of the card. With a sigh, she gave the card over towards Salphie.
Then she turned towards Ren. “What about you? Would you join Valhalla?” She stuck out her hand towards him.
“Yes. Wherever my sister goes, I’ll go with her.” He took her hand and gave her his card.

Ren’s status wasn’t bad, she got the feeling he was more of a single fighter than a group, but it didn’t matter to her. Different types of people joining her guild allowed her to have a different variety of people who could do things that she couldn’t. Even Amy and Jamie took Silver’s offer, both handing her their cards for her to see.

Amy’s status was a bit worrisome, but she understood that her specialties lie in some other area. What caught her attention was the amount of abilities that Amy had, usually one wouldn’t be able to have more than one or two without buying the skills, but she had the feeling that this was her own innate ability that she already had. Even Ren had three making him a special case as well. She quickly informed them not to show their cards to anyone else, and to keep it safe.
She brought up her card and checked the Guild Information.

Thirteen members, and she knew that when she accepted Ren Into her guild, the first boss was let loose into the playing field. She quickly put her card away and started to move towards the building.
“Silver!” Tyler yelled as he finally caught up with her. Rose was behind as both of them were breathing heavily. They both crouched over, trying to catch their breath. “Is everything alright?”
“Yea, we need to join up with the others.” She didn’t say anymore, time was the essence and they all had to get ready.
“Oh? If it isn’t the brat?” Tyler saw Salphie, grinning from ear to ear with a happy expression on her face.
“I’m not a brat.” She pouted, placing her hand on her hips. She gave him a sour expression at the thought of being called a brat, especially after he rubbed her head.
They all turn towards Silver, trailing behind her in a line. They were all curious on what Silver had in mind for all of them, especially after the announcement that Kushiel had said.
Silver gaits were quick and with a purpose, the door in front of the three story building was suddenly opened by Jasper. She wasn’t as surprised when an adorable grin greeted her like a ray of sunshine. For a moment there, her heart felt warm, giving her a temporary rest that she needed in the harsh battle to come.
“Silver,” said Jasper. It was the first thing that came to Jasper’s lips as he welcomed her in. He then leaned towards his side, and saw a group of people trailing behind her. “The others?”
“Guild members.”
“Ah, I see.” He nodded, ushering the others to come through. Tyler took Jasper’s position, while Jasper led them towards the biggest room in the building.
Silver noticed that there were very few rooms, she counted about three, and the rest was one giant room that was a gym. Sam was sitting down on the bleachers with his legs up against the rail, while Brianna was leaning over, watching both Brook and Rook play basketball.
Brook leaned backwards and shot into the basketball hoop with one fluid motion, while Rook was trying his best to stop him from shooting. “Score!” He yelled with enthusiasm, fist pumping in the air as he ran around as if he made the perfect shot in his whole entire life. When they saw Silver and Jasper, they stopped what they were doing and jogged over.
“Yo!” Brook impishly grinned, showing the white of his teeth. Rook came over, and leaned on his brother's shoulders.
“What’s up, guild leader~”
Silver stopped short in the middle of the gym, taking a good look around. It wasn’t an ideal place to be inside, but it was clear enough for them to move around if they needed to. The problem came down to what they could use in this building that could help fortify against the enemy that was going to come, and for sure she knew that people were going to come. It was their life on the line that was at stake.
Everyone surrounded her as she became the center of their circle. Her thoughts were in overtime, thinking about what she and her guild members should do in this time of crisis. Right now, it was either her guild or the other people and she only had enough space for seven more people. She hoped that she could at least bring in seven more people to her side, allowing her to cut down the forces of possible attack against her and her guildmates, but such consequences could bring large misfortune to her guild members.
She couldn’t save everybody, she knew this. Keeping herself alive was a whole job in itself, and watching out for her guildmates was the second. Throwing in a third equation was too much for her, and she knew she couldn’t handle everything. She was no god.
The other problem that came along with this decision was the boss monsters that they have to deal with. She couldn’t let people stay as their opponent inside this building, especially against people she didn’t know and trust. There was a huge chance of them backstabbing her guild members or sabotaging the operation to gain heaps of reward was a high possibility. Human nature during the time of crisis is a selfish creature, and she knew this better than anyone.
Was this all for the greater good of humanity? Possibility. She wasn’t sure, everything she was doing was with a reason, but the future was still undecided. The chance of what was going to happen in the near future was definite, and what she needed to do now was to keep as many people alive until that day has come.
With a deep sigh, she let out all her worries and focused back on the situation. What to do and how to break it to her people. She actually liked that word. Her people, her guildmates, her friends. A slight grin erupted on her lips.
Everybody that was silently waiting, watching her was taken aback by her angelic like smile that came across her face. It was serene, it was nothing like Jasper's smile that made one want to go over and pinch his cheeks, it was a smile from that heart that stirred up the people’s emotion. This was Silver’s true emotions hidden away from her fierce and stoic expression that she rarely showed. Only a few had seen this expression, and they all had a calming effect in their hearts.
Quite a bit of them held in their breath, waiting for her to speak her first words as if their life depended on it. Her gaze was softened but fierce, and the silver hair that draped down her side accentuated her beauty even more. For in that moment, they all saw for what she was a Silver Valkyrie. The angel that came down from heaven to bless and help her chosen people, granting them the power they need to triumphantly win against the battle ahead.
“Well,” the smile on her face slowly lowered, her hand raised up to nervously push back her hair. She wasn’t the type to talk in front of a large crowd.
“Come on, Silver! Dance for us!” Brook yelled, breaking the silence in half. The others looked at him horrified, confused, and completely struck back at Brook’s sudden strange outburst that they couldn’t tell heads or tails if he was an idiot.
Rook’s hand snapped forward, smacking his brother in the head.
“What?!”
“Shut up, you imbecile! You’re ruining the mood!” Rook hissed, glaring at his brother.
The others broke out into laughter as the tense air around Silver calmed down back to its calm atmosphere. Even Silver was back to her old self, she really needed that and she was glad that Brook broke the silence.
She cleared her throat, everyone started to settle back down and look towards her. “We got a fight on our hands, are you guys ready for it?” A glimmer of coldness laced her words as she stared at each one of them.
They knew what she meant, and they all nodded in agreement.
