A encounter
Avee and another policeman shook off their umbrellas and entered the cafe.
"This weather is terrible. It rains every day, and working outside has been a real pain." Avee complaining.
He looked around the cafe. There weren't many people, just 5.
One person, a student, wore a raincoat. Besides him was a young girl in a black long dress.
On the other side, there were two more people: one sitting in the corner and the others at the counter.
The one in the corner was...
"Han Verte?" Avee squinted, recognizing him as a key suspect in the invisible murder case. Despite being a person of interest, Han had solid alibis during the investigations.
Han noticed Avee and waved, "Officer, we meet again... Have you caught the criminal yet?"
Avee shook his head, "Not yet, but we've found a clue. By the way, Han, I heard you resign?"
Hearing this, Han smiled innocently and said, "Ah... Resign? Yes, I'm old, my body isn't what it used to be. Fixing air conditioners is too tiring."
Avee nodded, "That's right, you're not young anymore. Do you have any plans now that you've resigned?"
"For the time being... I haven't thought of anything yet. I'm planning to go home and do some fishing. That would be nice," Han said in a low voice.
Chino looked at Han, "If you're old, don't fish. Be careful, the fish might drag you into the water."
Han smiled, "Depends on how big the fish are."
Avee sniffed, "Speaking of fish... Why do I smell something fishy?"
Han picked up a plastic bag, "You have a good nose. I just bought some fish from the market."
"...I see."
Avee walked to the counter, where the bearded policeman was looking at the man in a suit behind the counter. The bearded policeman was momentarily stunned and then asked, "Who... Where is the cafe owner?"
Behind the counter, Lam was busy grinding coffee beans "The boss is resting. I'm a new employee. My skills aren't great, so if there's anything wrong, I hope you'll forgive me."
He picked up the coffee pot and began making coffee for the two officers.
"That's fine. I'll drink whatever you make," The bearded police officer said with a hearty laugh.
Avee remains silent, his attention drawn to the woman at the counter. The woman, had golden hair and wore black vulcanized rubber gloves. Her appearance was striking, and she carried herself with an air of sophistication that set her apart from ordinary people. Moreover, she was exceptionally beautiful.
Noticing Avee staring at her, Vex took her coffee and smiled, "Sir, staring at someone isn't polite~"
Avee snap out of his trance, "My apologies, that was disrespectful of me..."
Strange...
It's so strange...
Why did I just take one look at her and almost be charmed by her? This feeling is so magical...
After a long while, two cups of coffee were pushed in front of Avee and his companion.
"Well... It smells good, kid. Your skills aren't bad!" The bearded policeman exclaimed.
Lam smiled elegantly "You're exaggerating."
Avee picked up his coffee and took a sip "Exactly right..."
But why do I feel like I'm being watched? It felt as if a group of wild beasts were eyeing their prey. Avee tried to use his peripheral vision to scan the area behind him, but no one seemed to be looking at them.
The guy in the coat stood up. "I'm done. Shall we go?"
The girl in the black dress nodded and immediately followed him out.
"Then I'll go too. See you next time, Officer Avee," Han said, picking up his plastic bag and heading towards the door.
Seeing this, Avee suddenly turned around "Han, can I see your fish?"
Han frowned. "You... want to see it? However, this fish isn't quite appealing..."
Avee's eyes narrowed "Please, let me take a look."
"Sigh... Of course, if you insist like that, there's no way." Han opened the plastic bag, revealing an ugly deep-sea fish inside.
"Officer Avee, would you like to come to my house and taste my culinary skills?"
Avee withdraws his gaze, "No, I'm just curious what kind of fish you bought."
Han smiled, then turned around and left, carrying the fish, "See you later, Officer Avee."
The bearded police officer turned his head, "How is it, Avee?"
Avee furrowed his eyebrows, "Do you know if there's a place that sells black toothfish around here?"
"What fish?"
Avee took out his cell phone, searched for a photo, and showed it, "Have you seen this kind of fish in the market?"
The bearded police officer shook his head, "No, I haven't seen it until now."
"Exactly... Because there's no such fish sold around here," Avee said, his eyebrows furrowing deeper, "This fish is not only ugly but also especially difficult to eat."
"Normally speaking, no one would buy this type of fish, and even less would there be a merchant who sells it."
"Maybe he doesn't know that this type of fish is hard to eat..."
"Then why didn't he search for information on the internet?"
"Eh... Maybe he likes to eat this kind of food?"
Avee's mouth twitched, "Where did your police intuition go?"
The bearded policeman patted his shoulder, "Whoa, you're too suspicious. Maybe it was a gift from a friend or relative?"
"Then this friend or relative must hate him very much," Avee said, downing his coffee in one gulp, "Let's go, back to the station."
...
Outside.
Han threw the fish bag to Chino.
"Do you think this kind of fish is what Lord Aurora needs?"
Chino shook his head, "It's hard to say, but this is what I spent two days searching for in the sea. In general, we have to try if we want to know."
"Also, that police officer just now, was he keeping an eye on you?"
Han nodded, "Yes, he has been for a while."
"Shall I help you kill him?"
"No need, if he dies, the police will be more suspicious of me."
"Then you can deal with it yourself. I'll go first."
...
In the apartment above the cafe, Mei was in her room, watering her unique flowers, completely unaware of the recent events downstairs. The two policemen had just walked into a den of criminals without realizing it.
"I didn't expect that plants could also absorb potions," Mei mused aloud, "Even though the absorption speed is a bit slow, if they can successfully reproduce... This might have a significant impact in the future."
She concentrated on a strange plant growing in her flower bed. It resembled a sunflower, but its pistil was filled with various eyes, and its leaves were vine-like tendrils wrapping around the stem. As a mosquito flew by, the vine quickly crushed it to death and absorbed it.
"Speaking of which, 004 mentioned she had a gift for me and asked me to visit tomorrow... Oh, how troublesome," Mei sobbed, "Anyway, let's just go and see. The address is... Nanyan?"
