Book 3: Chapter 8 (4/9)
Standing in front of Kain inside the Throne Room, Enye Selmer had her guard up knowing Kain Bersk was the strongest Blood Mage currently alive. As a Solo-Executioner who has hunted countless Rogue Mages and Blood Mages throughout her lifetime, Enye wanted nothing more than slaying Kain Bersk the moment she saw him. Kain was no better than a living nightmare and Enye hoped she could help to end it for everyone. Unlike Lazela who slightly bowed toward Noe Clerico when she was speaking to him, Enye on the other hand was very hostile when speaking with Kain Bersk.
Holding her head high and staring directly into Kain’s eyes, Enye said, “Lord Clerico of the Gray wrote a letter for you. I am here to deliver it.”
Kain could feel the hatred in Enye’s eyes because of how she was grinding her teeth to speak with him about the letter from Noe Clerico. Kain gave the command for one of the Demi-Human warriors that were guarding his Throne Room to take the letter from Enye’s left hand and give it to him. Finished reading the letter, Kain stood up and started to walk down toward Enye’s location while maintaining his wicked smile staring back into her eyes.
Enye didn’t know what Kain was planning, but she already finished chanting for the strongest Saint-tier Fire Magic spell that she had created, [Tenfold Detonation]. Unlike the [Hover Ignition] spell which wasn’t created for fighting, the other Saint-tier Fire Magic spell Enye had created was powerful enough to kill any powerful magic casters that Enye had known, including Noe Clerico and Gwenn Bigham. If Noe couldn’t revive himself limitless, then Enye was confident that he wouldn’t be able to hold a real fight against her. Of course, that was what Enye thought. The reality was so much different compared to the fantasy in her mind. Similar to [Incinerate] the level 45 Fire Magic spell, [Tenfold Detonation] will also release a powerful explosion from the hand of the caster but with ten times more explosion energy.
Stared into Enye’s eyes and smiled, Kain jokingly asked, “You wanted to kill me so bad, aren’t you?”
Enye knew her mission was to deliver a letter to Kain, not to kill him. But because Kain asked, Enye had no problem expressing her true feelings toward him, “Blood Magic is the root of all evil. I wanted nothing more than kill you and destroy the Blood Mages Guild here and now.”
“Here I am, standing in front of you. What are you going to do about it?”
“I am here as a messenger. If I kill you here then it would bring shame to the Mages Council because people would spread false rumors thinking the Mages Council for sending an assassin disguised as a messenger.” Looking around for three seconds, Enye continued, “It would be hard for me to get out of here alive after using all of my mana to kill you. Killing you is important, but my life is much more valuable compared to yours.”
Kain opened both of his arms and shouted, “Everyone listened up! I hereby grant this idiot permission to kill me. If she managed to kill me, do not attack her but safely escort her back into the Bifjorkian Theocracy!” After making sure all the Demi-Humans heard him, Kain gazed back at Enye and dared her again, “There you go. I will give you ten seconds. Attack me however you want during those ten seconds and I promised not to fight back. But after ten seconds is over...” Kain smiled and didn't finish what he wanted to say to Enye.
Enye smirked when she heard Kain made a threat against her. Enye shouted out loud, “That stupidity overconfidence will be your death sentence, Blood Mage!”
Enye activated [Fire Domain] spell to temporarily enhance the magical strength and Magical Penetration rate of her Fire Magic spells up to five hundred percent (500%). She then activated [Mana Infusion] and casted the [Tenfold Detonation] spell at Kain while announcing, “After activating [Mana Infusion], this spell is powerful enough to destroy your entire palace and possibly ten percent of this city killing countless innocent people. But it will be well worth it!”
A second later. Nothing happened. Enye couldn’t believe in her eyes. She stared into Kain’s eyes and confusedly asked, “What have you done to me?”
Kain smiled and said, “Seven more seconds.”
Enye checked her mana pool and it was still full which meant she didn’t activate the [Fire Domain] spell or [Mana Infusion] successfully. Enye attempted to activate the [Fire Domain] spell again but noticed it couldn’t be activated. She then attempted to cast [Tenfold Detonation] spell without [Fire Domain] and [Mana Infusion] but couldn’t cast it as well. Enye then attempted to cast [Exploding Fireball], [Fireball], and even [Flame], the level 1 Fire Magic spell but wasn’t successful.
Still having an evil smile on his face, Kain said, “One. Zero.”
As soon as Kain said “zero”, he used his right hand to choke Enye while laughing as he saw the surprised face Enye had when she realized none of her Fire Magic spells could be cast. Kain slammed her face on the ground then threw her ten feet away like a piece of trash then he asked, “Do you know how many types of Saint-tier magic casters are there?”
Enye’s face was injured, but the injuries weren’t life-threatening. She still couldn’t believe none of her Fire Magic spells could be casted against Kain. Hearing Kain asked such a question, Enye honestly shook her head and said, “I don’t know.” Enye then attempted to cast [Flame] again but wasn't successful.
“There are three types. The strong such as Arthur Castillon, Noe Clerico, and I. The weak such as Gween Bigham, Etgar Revenmar, Adrik Volsky, and Kath Donoghan. And the worms such as you and all other magic casters. Remember this carefully because your life depends on it. You are nothing but a worm when standing in front of a supreme being such as me. You and all other magic casters are just worms, don’t you ever forget that.”
Finished saying that, Kain choked Enye from the distance of ten feet away using the [Vampiric Clench] spell then slammed her face down on the ground once again before deactivating [Magic Annulment] spell that he secretly activated when walking toward Enye from his throne chair earlier.
Kain turned his back toward Enye and started walking to the throne chair as he said, “I will now allow you to cast magic again. If you dare cast any magic spell toward me, today will be the last day you can live. Tell Noe Clerico that I agreed to his terms of bringing all Kings and Queens including the two Emperors of the Dryardian Empire to be audiences. Let him know that I will count on him to send messengers to all nations of the Toria Continents to invite all world leaders to become audiences for the duel to the death between him and I a year from now on Linkeep Island."
