Book 3: Chapter 12 (2/12)
“Kain… Kain Bersk..?” The Diamond Skeleton slowly asked.
Although Zora couldn’t see the Diamond Skeleton’s facial expression, she knew the name Kain Bersk meant something to it. Zora firmly said, “Yes, Kain Bersk.”
“Zora Faringray, isn’t your husband Wil Castillon, the tenth-tier warrior and head commander of the thirty-sixth Legion? How did you get a son named Kain Bersk? ”
Zora opened her eyes widely in surprise when she heard the Diamond Skeleton said her husband’s name. But Zora decided to double down on her lie and said, “Kain Bersk is my adopted son.”
“Is that so? Tell me more about this Kain Bersk adopted son of yours.”
“I don’t have to tell you anything. Kill me if you want to, my son will surely take revenge for me.”
“Ah… Didn't you say this son of yours is currently at Linkeep Island with Pope Hayward and Holy Mage Bigham? Very well. I will let you live for now. After I deal with that Kain Bersk guy, if-”
The Diamond Skeleton couldn’t finish what it wanted to say because a giant fire fist appeared from below the ground and knocked up high toward the sky, causing heavily burning damages within a five hundred feet radius. Zora wasn't too close to the Diamond Skeleton and there was no way she could have dodged on time to avoid it, but a shadow appeared to grab Zora then teleported to a mile away. About the Diamond Skeleton, it took a hundred percent of damages caused by the giant fire fist.
A loud angry voice shouted behind Zora, “Damn you, ignorant creature! How dare you lay waste on Flumen city and attack the Mages Council’s temple?”
Zora took a quick glance at the shadow that just rescued her, it was Thallan Femmarel, one of the top eight Champions of the Mages Council. Zora happily asked, “Sir Thallan Femmarel, that voice... Doesn't it belong to Sir Amyr Furivel, leader of the Champions?"
Thallan smiled and confirmed Zora's question as he said, "It is him."
Zora turned around and saw it was indeed Amyr Furivel but he wasn’t alone. Standing behind him were all thirty-four Champions of the Mages Council. Including Thallan Femmarel, then the other seven members of the top eight and a total of thirty-six Champions were also present.
The top eight Champions of the Mages Council included: Amyr Furivel (male), level 100 Fire Mage. Ralnor Siltrail (male), level 100 Conjurer Mage. Vestele Starnar (female), level 100 Ice Mage. Shalantha Erevyn (female), level 100 Light Mage. Irva Naerdre (female), level 100 Black Mage. Thallan Femmarel (male), level 100 Thunder Mage. Celedor Selmer (male), level 100 Wind Mage. Gregg Corbin (male), level 100 Earth Mage.
Amyr Furivel was named as the strongest Champion currently living in Toria Continents. Naturally, he became the Champions’ leader and can lead them to battle without the Holy Mage’s request.
Amyr stared at the Diamond Skeleton that was continued being burned by his giant fire fist, then turned his gaze toward Zora and said, “High Priest Faringray, please leave this area to prevent being injured by our magic spells. Shalantha, would you please heal the High Priest Fanringray?”
Shalantha Erevyn nodded her head and casted [Major Healing] spell to heal Zora. Zora thanked Shalantha after she was completely healed. Zora thought that powerful giant fire fist must have killed the Diamond Skeleton, but it was still standing at the same location despite the ground below its feet being destroyed. No, the Diamond Skeleton wasn’t standing, because it was levitating at the same location because its feet weren't touching the ground. Zora knew the Champions were about to team up to fight against such an omnipotent creature, she immediately led other Saint-tier Warrior Priests under her command toward other directions to help the citizens who were being mercilessly killed by the countless Skeleton Warriors.
Amyr stared directly into the Diamond Skeleton’s eye sockets and asked, “Creature, what is your name? Why are you attacking Flumen city and the Mages Council’s temple?”
The Diamond Skeleton was still burning heavily, but it appeared not to be bothered by the burning fire as it laughed out loud and said, “Fire Mage, what is your name? Why do you want to die that badly?”
Vestele Starnar angrily yelled at the Diamond Skeleton, “Insolent bastard! Do you have any idea who you are speaking to? That man is Amyr Furivel, leader of the Champions, the current strongest Champion!”
“Strongest? Ah…”
Amyr sensed the Diamond Skeleton wasn’t trying to answer his question. Amyr decided not to waste any more time and gave the commands, “Champions of the Mages Council, listen up! We have been meditating for more than a million years straight. The Mages Council needed our power to fight off evil today. As Champions, we are vowed to protect the Mages Council from all types of threats with the Holy Mage’s request. Holy Mage Gwenn Bigham currently isn't in the Mages Council, we will have to act without her official request. This Diamond Skeleton creature and its Skeleton Army are terrorizing our beloved Flumen city. From my observations, we have to stop this madness before it spreads to nearby cities. Champions, you are allowed to go all out even if it kills all remaining living citizens of Flumen city! Attack!”
Zora heard loud explosions after loud explosions and knew the mighty Champions had gone all out aimed to kill that Diamond Skeleton. Even though there were still too many Skeleton Warriors and Skeleton Mages roaming Flumen city looking to kill the remaining living citizens. As long as that Diamond Skeleton could be killed, then there would be nothing to fear for. Never in Zora’s life had she experienced such great power. Just one punch from that Diamond Skeleton and it was powerful enough to bring her lifeforce to the lowest. Zora’s hands were healed, but her broken steel shield and bent steel lance couldn’t be used anymore. Zora picked up an iron sword and iron shield from a nearby dead city guard and swung it several times to test out how sturdy it was.
Zora shook her head in disappointment and said, “This iron sword is too light compared to my old steel lance. The iron shield isn’t sturdy enough to block any attack from Saint-tier Golden Skeleton Warriors. But I guess it’s still better than nothing.”
One of the Saint-tier Priests asked, “High Priest Faringray, you can use my weapons as an alternative option.”
“No need for that. Fighting against those Skeletons shouldn’t be a problem even if I just use the strength of my fists. We needed to find my husband and join up with his Legion. I'm sure my husband has some good weapons that he can spare for me.”
