TVD: Beyond the pale moon

Chapter 20: Psychology 102

The next morning I woke up with the sounds of chaos in the house. I begrudgingly opened my eyes and sat up straight and in an instant I was done with the day. I knew it wasn't going to be a good day. I got up from my bed and stretched my body and walked to my cabinet to get some supply of Vervain since I gave some to Caroline I was running a little low.

I got a few buds of the vervain and walked out of my room and I found Damon going to Stefan's room and he asked, "I heard you have a compass." I looked at him and he said, "Got it." He walked away and I went downstairs to find a spray bottle and I found one in the basement next to the refrigerator.

I picked out a blood bag and drank it and it was just the thing that I needed right now. The sweet harmony of the flowing blood, just soothed my soul. I put the vervain buds in the bottle and mixed it with water and went upstairs to find Vicki.

I found her and the other two nimrods in Stefan's room trying to talk to Vicki. As soon as she saw me she got up from her chair in anger and I just sprayed the water on her face. It burned her skin and she wriggled on the ground in pain crying.

"What the hell Tom?" Stefan went to check on her and I stopped him and said, "Remember what I said, "I'll handle her." So back off."

"I seem like an easter bunny now don't I?" He smiled at Vicki.

Vicki's face healed soon and she touched it and then looked at me and got up, "What did you do to me?"

I started walking towards her and she took a few steps back and became silent as she looked at me. I smiled, "Good… Now. You are a vampire Vicki and you have chosen this life, but that doesn't mean the vampire life has chosen you. I know it sounds like nonsense and all but it's true. You became a vampire because of that dumbass right there." I pointed at Damon and he smiled and waved and flipped me the bird.

"So it doesn't matter whose mistake it was or if you are the victim or any other thing under the sun… what matters is this. You are in deep shit now Vicki…" She panicked and looked at Stefan and he looked at me and I said, "You won't survive this if you don't change. You are weak, erratic and emotional. All the things that will get you staked in the heart and burned to cinders by the sun. So I have taken an interest in a responsibility not to save you but to save all of us. Got it?"

She looked at me and her eyes started to swell up with tears and I looked at her and said, "No crying." I spared her with the bottle again.

I turned to Damon and threw the compass at him and Stefan looked at me and I said, "Both of you and especially you Damon are on this. They clearly know that vampires have returned and are starting to take action. Do something about it."

"Stop doing it!" Vicki yelled and I sprayed her again and I said, "Stop reacting then, be calm." She looked at me and she got up again and I nodded, "Good… here." I gave her the blood bag but Stefan tried to stop me and I said, "What did I say?"

"Have you considered that she might be a."

"Ripper?" Damon looked at him and I sighed and said, "She isn't… last night she didn't rip that whatever his name was's head."

"What's a Ripper?" Vicki asked and I said, "Everything in it's time. Right now, drink." She took the bag and started drinking and I said, "Try to slow down… this is for the whole day."

"What?" Vicki looked at me and the bag was more than half empty now. "Fuck."

"You have a lot to learn." I looked at her and kinda weighed my options.

Damon sighed and said, "Well, I'm not needed or wanted here so… toodles." He got up and walked away.

"Have a shower and be in your room… I'll be with you in a minute. We'll go over the basics." Vicki rolled her eyes and walked out the room as well.

Stefan was staring daggers and I turned to him and said, "Your way won't work with her."

"You don't know that and give her blood while knowing her history? That's not safe."

"What's not safe is having a human around when a new vampire is in the house?"

He looked at me and was confused and I touched my ears prompting him to listen carefully and he heard Elena's voice and left the room in a zap. I followed him back and I saw Vicki out on the stairs and said, "What are you doing here? Get to your room Now."

She reluctantly walked into her room and shut the door, Elena looked up to me and said, "What are we doing about her?"

I started my descend down the stairs and said, "There are steps to the process and the first is to limit the human contact and the last is to remove the human from her."

She looked at me and didn't understand it while Stefan looked at me in horror and said, "WHAT?"

"Not in the tradition vampire sense, more like an enlightened sense."

"What are you talking about?"

I walked towards her and sighed, "You don't need to know that and it's best if you don't come here… it's for your own good."

"I don't like it either but everyone is trying to find her and it's hard to lie to everyone."

I looked at her and squinted, "I can make it easy if you want to."

She looked at me and understood what I meant and touched her necklace and Stefan said, "Okay, calm down… there is no need for that."

I looked at him and said, "You are still choosing this? There is a newborn in our home… an unstable one and you are endangering your so called love by making her stay here."

Stefan looked at me and I sighed and shook my head and said, "Fine… fine, not the first time you've ignored my warning won't be the last."

I turned around and walked into my room and took some supplies to educate Vicki better. I walked in her room and saw that she was done changing and I said, "Good… at least you can follow some order."

"I'm not a dog!"

"No, you are worse."

I pulled a chair and sat down and said, "Sit."

She sat down on the bed and folded her hands and I sighed and looked at her, "I understand that it would be an understatement that you are pissed off. But you still have yet to grasp the danger you are in."

"You keep saying that Im in deep shit and all that but what does that mean?"

I smiled, "You remember the guy you drank from last night?"

She remembered and nodded, "That guy wasn't even an amature hunter. That was an idiot with a gun. But there are some out there that are insanely exceptional in killing our kind. They can sniff out the vampires from the humans even with the rings and everything. And thats not even the worst part, the worst is to be captured and used, experimented on for decades, losing the sense of self and becoming something even less than an animal."

She gulped down a pool of saliva and I asked, "Do you love someone?"

She nodded and said, "My brother and Jeremy." She had tears in her eyes but she wiped them away quickly. I heard a worried sigh on the other side of the door. I looked at her and said, "Well, the way you are right now, they'll be nothing more than blood bags for you."

"No."

I leaned in and said, "Yes, you'll rip into their flesh without a second thought, because that's our nature, our craving for blood triumphs everything. Blood has taken and given you life and now it controls it."

She looked at me and asked, "So what? I'll be alone forever?"

I shook my head and chuckled, "No, even if you want to… but you won't you'll have me. If you do what I say, I'll make sure that not only do you survive but thrive. You'll be able to go back to your brother, Jeremy. You want to go back to them don't you?"

She nodded and I smiled, "Good, so… for your first lesson and you'll love it, trust me." I picked up the bottle of whiskey and said, "Booze…" She tilted her head and I poured two glasses of whiskey and said, "The craving for blood will always be there driving you crazy, but you can cut the edge with this."

I gave her the glass and said, "There are more ways, like eating and drinking coffee."

She drank the whiskey and asked, "And I won't get liver damage if I drink too much?"

I chuckled and said, "No, there are some perks of being a vampire… you'll never get sick, you'll stay however young you are and the best of all is you can still grow as an individual."

She nodded and asked, "You tend to not say human, we are kinda still human aren't we?"

I drank a little and said, "No, we aren't… we are better. Don't get me wrong, humans are cool. But we are just better in so many aspects. We are better artists, thinkers, scientists even."

"Wow, so what now? We just drink?"

"For now, when the sun goes down… we'll go out for some run… Do you have any more questions for me?"

My phone rang and I looked at it and it was Bonnie. I picked the call and after 4 days I heard her voice, "We need to talk."

"No… small talk?"

"No, meet me at the grill in fifteen."

She hung up the call and I looked at Vicki and she said, "Need to go somewhere?"

I nodded and got up from the chair, I opened the door and found the two on the door and said, "Take over for me… I'll be back in a while." I handed Elena the spray and said, "Do a good job."

I stepped out of the room and changed my clothes and went to meet Bonnie at the grill. I wasn't sure as to what would happen or what she would say but I think it's important that we have a functional relationship with her. Since she'll be of immense use to me. I just hope it goes better than some of my previous meetings with witches.
