Trapped in Paradise

Chapter 605

Chapter 607. Zhang Shaoqing and Qian Qian

The little one was hiding in the second bedroom, peeking through the door with just her small head sticking out, curiously looking at the unfamiliar guests in the living room.

That uncle looked a bit scary, wearing a playful smile on his face, lounging on the sofa, chatting with her dad about who knows what, and occasionally bursting into laughter. She could clearly sense that her dad was acting a bit differently than usual, making her feel somewhat estranged.

Mom, along with that unknown cat, was busy in the kitchen, chatting and laughing while preparing dinner.

And she felt like she had no presence at home at all.

“Your daughter seems quite timid, huh?” Zhang Shaoqing glanced back towards the second bedroom.

The little girl quickly shrank her head back, but the tail behind her restlessly wagged, revealing her position.

“Just a little brat, just like Ning Chu.” Wen Yang also looked up, seeing the exposed tail, nearly laughing out loud. “Having a child is quite amusing, though there are plenty of headaches too.”

“Right? I don’t even want kids.”

“Really not? Your mom would agree?”

Zhang Shaoqing had been controlled by his mother since childhood, and it was only after graduating from university that things got a bit better — but that was mainly because he had taken Qian Qian on a trip abroad.

“I wanted to have kids before, but now with Qian Qian… I’m worried about the risks.”

Wen Yang suddenly understood: “Yeah, you’re getting closer to being an advanced maternal age.”

“What have you been doing all these years? Living so close but I hardly see you at gatherings.”

Zhang Shaoqing sighed helplessly, “My mom handed the company over to me, and I’ve been busy every single day.”

“Come on, it’s all me who’s busy. You’re just at home playing games and can’t even be bothered to go to the office, and you’re livestreaming online.” Qian Qian came over with a fruit platter, bluntly tearing down his facade. “You’re just lazy to the bone.”

“I’m building my own career!” Zhang Shaoqing excitedly showcased to Wen Yang, “You know? I have thousands of viewers on my livestream now! I plan to open another game company with the money I earn!”

“Is livestreaming really that profitable?”

“I made over a hundred thousand from livestreaming, and my mom is giving me a couple million more…”

Wen Yang shot him a sideways glance.

Though Zhang Shaoqing was truly a bit off the rails, a portion of Wen Yang’s company clients were introduced through this guy. Without his presence, it was uncertain whether the company would even be profitable.

“I’m going to the bathroom.”

“Remember to sit down while you’re at it.”

Just as Zhang Shaoqing stood up, he incredulously turned back to Wen Yang: “You sit while peeing at home?!”

“What else?”

“Shocked! Have you lost your manhood?!” He exclaimed as if he had seen a ghost, “You don’t even care about your dignity as a man and still dare to talk about family status?!”

Wen Yang waved his hand dismissively: “This small matter is nothing.”

“Then what counts as a big deal?!”

“What big deal is there for a family?”

Wen Yang used to resist sitting down while peeing, but married life is fundamentally about two people compromising and adapting to each other.

“I think sitting down is better, or else you’ll just pee everywhere.” Qian Qian nodded thoughtfully.

“I’ll clean it up!”

Seeing Zhang Shaoqing head to the restroom, Wen Yang curiously asked Qian Qian: “Does he do this at home too?”

“Him? He can’t even eat at the table at home.”

Wen Yang felt significantly relieved now; clearly, he could still eat at the table at home.

Qian Qian explained with a smile: “He often plays games and doesn’t have time to eat, so I have to serve food to him.”

“I’m going to help Ning Chu~”

In the kitchen, Ning Chu heard Qian Qian’s footsteps and glanced over. “What were you guys arguing about just now?”

“Shaoqing insists on standing while peeing.”

“Otherwise, it’ll be everywhere…” She frowned discontentedly, continuing to stir the dishes, “When are you and Shaoqing getting married? It’s been so long.”

“We’re already married.”

“Huh?”

“We had a wedding abroad a few years back and registered once we returned; my mother was furious.”

Ning Chu reminisced about her own experience registering the marriage with Wen Yang. She had also tried to sneakily register without her mother, but unfortunately, her mother was too experienced and caught her red-handed.

“How’s your mother-in-law getting along with you now?”

“Pretty well~”

“That’s good… Can you help me serve the soup? It’s almost time to eat.”

Zhang Shaoqing and Qian Qian’s sudden visit meant there weren’t many ingredients at home; Ning Chu only prepared three dishes and a soup.

But she had also ordered takeaway, five pounds of crayfish, plus dry pot frog. The two men were definitely going to drink together tonight, so instead of going out, it was better for Wen Yang to stay home and avoid being dragged to chaotic places.

“Have you booked a hotel?”

“Yeah, just a few hundred meters away, the Shangri-La Hotel.”

“Five-star, huh~”

Rich people are just different, likely the most expensive suite too.

Although Wen Yang now ran a company, its profitability was still quite average, with fewer than ten employees, and couldn’t compare to Zhang Shaoqing’s family conglomerate.

“Shu Jun! Come eat!”

Ning Chu served the food and takeaway on the table and called towards the second bedroom.

After a moment, the daughter reluctantly shuffled in, head down, hastily crossing the living room to sit down at the dining table.

Perhaps it was because Ning Chu had always used the tail as a toy for the succubus, the daughter’s gaze kept sneakily darting towards Qian Qian’s cat tail, eager to touch it.

“If only she were this quiet all the time…” Ning Chu shook her head helplessly, then called out to Wen Yang, “Honey! Go grab two chairs from the study!”

“Got it!”

“Her name is Wen Shu Jun, right?” Qian Qian looked at the shy little one, stifling laughter, “Who named her? It has a vibe from the ’80s or ’90s.”

“I…”

“Never mind then.”

Ning Chu rolled her eyes, sat down beside her daughter, and whispered to reassure her: “It’s okay, Sister Qian Qian is very nice~”

Qian Qian nodded with a smile: “Tomorrow, I’ll bring you a toy, okay?”

The round, big eyes turned and the daughter tentatively asked, “Can I touch your tail?”

“How greedy, huh!” Ning Chu’s expression darkened, “Auntie’s tail isn’t enough for you?”

“Oh…”

Wen Yang and Zhang Shaoqing both entered the dining room one after the other; the lively daughter immediately turned shy again, lowering her head and fidgeting with her fingers.

“Shao Qing, it’s your first time meeting my daughter; shouldn’t you give some token of appreciation?” Ning Chu teased Zhang Shaoqing, raising an eyebrow, “I’m not picky; thousands or tens of thousands are all fine.”

“Please, I have to get Qian Qian to fund my games.” Zhang Shaoqing spread his hands, “I have no money.”

He changed the subject: “If you make your daughter call me brother, I’ll give her my pocket money.”

Ning Chu couldn’t understand why this guy insisted on sharing the same generation as her daughter.

Though in some sense, the characters she wrote did indeed belong to the same generation as her daughter—they could call her “mom” too… this means the relationship between Wen Yang and her was going to get really complicated.

“Qian Qian, he has pocket money.”

“So what if he does? What man doesn’t have pocket money?” Qian Qian sighed helplessly, “Does Wen Yang not have any?”

“All the money at home is in Wen Yang’s hands. Why would he need pocket money?”

“Not the same~”
